What's at stake..

Willie certainly loses his job. Does the club keep Rick Peterson? I hope so. Does Minaya keep his job? He shouldn't, he molded this old, punchless roster. Delgado needs to go, although I have no idea if he's under contract for 2009 or not. Castillo needs to go, but unfortunately, the only way we rid ourselves of him is to buy out the contract and that ain't happening. Sayanara to Ollie, Pedro, and El Duque. This entire starting pitching staff will need to be re-worked, but at least Johan and Maine will be there, and hopefully a CONFIDENT Pelfrey going in to 2009.

About the only thing good that can happen this year if the Mets have a losing season is I suspect that Fernando Martinez will get some early time in the bigs and get some experience. Anybody see how Jonathan Niese is doing in AA ball? He is doing very well, so we may have another gem that can replace Pedro.

Watching this team this year is no fun at all.

:LMAO:

This is the equivalent to saying that the Giants season is over three quarters into our second pre-season game.

It was a terrible loss today but there are a lot of mediocre teams out there. We're one of them, but you never know.

I DID say "IF"! That is the operative word here. That said, there is nothing I've seen in all of the games I've watched this year (about half of them) that would leave me to believe this team has any offensive prowess to speak of. They look like a team that can beat other mediocre teams, and that's it. They don't look like a team that can compete with the Braves or Diamondbacks. They look old and punchless.

I am basig my feelings not on the first 11 games, but what I saw the last 120 of 2007 and what I felt this year. Although I do not think it will be a losing season, I see 81-84 wins at best, which for all intents and purposes when you are spending 137 millon dollars is a losing season.

As for what I think happens. I think Willie will be shitcanned by June 15th of this year. Rumor is he and Omar are on the outs and the manager is always the first to go. They will place a guy in there who will allow Omar and Tony Bernarzard to continue to come into the clubhouse and undermine the authority of the manager. Only now they will get no resistance. Look for the new manager to be spanish and a "compadre" of the Minaya/Bernazard team. Of course Freddie boy and Jeffy poo will sit back and allow this nonsense to continue and Willie will be the fall guy. I also suspect that the media, who love Willie for his winning ways as a Yank player and coach will be all over team Minaya, but Omar in his true "I think I am smarter than you all" attititude will hold firm. The first reporter who really calls him out will be labeled a racist by team Minaya.

As for the roster. Someone should take Delgado for a late season run(AL team). Perez is a Boras client, so signing him will be difficult, someone will also take him if we want. With bullpens being such trash teams would like up to take Schoenweis and Heilman. As for my man Billy, if someone took him I would pay the airfare. Bench guys like Easley and Anderson could be very valuable to a team looking to strengthen itself for a pennant push, but you will not get much in return for them other than a young body. Alou could help an AL team in the race in need of some right handed pop.

Brace yourself Met fans, this is going to get ugly, very very very ugly and its not me saying this after a 11 game start, I have felt this all along. This team has played piss poorly sine May 15th 2007. They are what they are and thats not very good.

Meanwhile the Phils were just up 5-4 in the 8th and lost in extras.

Remember the NL Central the past couple of years? There'll be five times as many of those divisions by the end of the year.

Hopefully the Single-A farm system that Omar's raving about is as good as he says.

Here are the standings throughout the league. The only legitimate team that is substantially above .500 IMO is the D'backs, who I had playing the Indians in this year's WS. The Indians, BTW, aren't getting much from their top two starting pitchers either.

If you look around the league, not many fans are happy right now.

Again, I don't think we are that great a team either. But I think we're gonna have no choice to stick with our guns come late July because there is no way in hell after last year Omar is raising the the red flag and will go on a firesale when we're still going to be in it.

Take away the contracted part and that sounds just like the last GM we had. And the one before that.

Looks like Omar fits in well.

Duh........... who was Omar an assistant under?

This idea that he is a great GM because now he can freely spend Freddie Coupons money is hysterical. He is a great SCOUT, thats where his roots lie, finding a Sammy Sosa or Jose Reyes or Juan Gonzalez, not running a team(into the ground) like he is here.
