  1. 4-6-1 now, with a game today against a team we've beaten twice. Kinda disappointing, but I'm proud of the way my kids have played. They haven't been mercy-ruled yet, and have lost a lot of one-run games. Our biggest problem is we don't hit worth a shit.

  2. Nice job handing the red sox a win last night Joey. How fucking stupid is this guy. First of all, Wright should have been pulled the second he walked Manny to lead off the 6th. His pitch count was high and he showed that he had was losing it in the 5th inning. Then, after he allows Wright to load the bases with no outs(already allowing one run in), he brings in Proctor a guy with a knack for blowing tight games...especially tight games against the red sox. Guess what he did? After giving up a sac fly to tie the game(I cut him slack on that one, he did come in with the bases juiced and no out), he gives up a double to the worst hitter in baseball not named Tony Womack or Juan Pierre.

Just when you think Joey 4 Rings couldnt fuck this game up any more, guess what he does? He has Proctor start the next inning with Big Sloppy leading off and Trot "my manager benches me when we face a left handed pitcher because I cant hit lefties at all" Nixon due up 2 batters later. Now Joe, I know that you dont want to burn Mike Meyers out, I mean he is on pace to pitch an unheard of 29 inning this season. But what the fuck? Didnt we get him to get out lefties? And with 2 of the first three batters being lefties youd think he would have started the inning. But no, Torre leaves in Proctor who give up 3 run jack. Keep in mind the game was only 4-3 before that. Now with the game 7-3(still not too far out of reach), he brings in Scott Erickson...thats right..SCOTT FUCKING ERICKSON. Guess what he did? Promptly got shelled for 2 more runs. At that point the game is out of reach. Thanks Joe. Poor Ron Villone, he doesnt get rocked nearly enough for Joey 4 Rings to use him.

The walk to Manny was on his 81st pitch, which isn't such a high pitch count that you'd think about pulling a guy who'd given up one run. At this point in the season, you've gotta find out if your starters have what it takes to go deep into games. If you're afraid to stick with Wright because he's thrown 80 pitches in a June game, you might as well take him out of the rotation. Gonzalez double was hit hard, but AGirl did a pretty nice wave at it on the way by, too (it was originally ruled an error). Mike Lowell would've had it. Granted, Proctor has had his troubles lately, but there'ds not much of an alternative. As for Erickson, you've gotta bring in the bottom of the barrell of your bullpen in that situation and hope they can keep it together. As it turned out, Torre made a great move because the Yankees never scored another run, so he got a couple of outs out of a dead body. There's no use wasting good arms when you're down 4 runs in the 7th.

You really have to stop looking so hard for reasons to criticize Torre. The guy may not be the greatest manager of all time, but he's certainly been a very good one for the Yanks. I mean, Francona is not as good a manager as Torre, but I consider us lucky when I think about what's out there.

  3. Id be willing to give up Eric Duncan and Tyler Clippard for Abreu or one prospect and pick up his contract, but certainly not both...That brings me to Pat Burrell. Id give them a lower prosoect and cash..thats it. Soriano is another option and being that Jim Bowden in the Nats GM we could probably get him for Carlos Pena and Terrence Long.

    :LMAO::LMAO::LMAO::LMAO::LMAO:

I say offer them absolutely nothing for Abreu and Burrell. That sounds pretty fair to me.

  4. Well, I didn't see the play, but I do have to say that the whole "play for the win on the road" thing is more a theory than a rule of thumb, and as gateB said, when you have a fresh Mo, and an offense like the Yankees (albeit a beat-up offense), that theory doesn't always apply.

  5. Was the infield playing in, back, or halfway? It's really the manager's decision before the ball is even hit as to where the infield is gonna go with it. If the infield is playing back (as I'm guessing they were in that situation), you don't ever come home, no matter how hard the ball is hit. As was already said, if the run will only tie the game, you gladly give it up for a chance at two outs.

  6. whats ridiculous was when i was a junior in high school, i asked a guy to ask some of the coaches in the little league i used to play in if they would allow me to just help out their teams. And every single coach said that they were all set. I could tell it was kinda hard for the guy I asked to tell me that basically I cant help out, and to boot I was a success story of that little league. i played varsity baseball, not many kids from there continued on to do that.

I HATE JERK LITTLE LEAGUE COACHES.

just teach ur kids fundamentals and respect for the game.

Well, I am a jerk, and I am a coach, but I'd like to think I don't mix the two. I can see what you mean there, though, because the whole thing in my town is politics. One team has been the best team in the league forever, which I really don't understand because there's a draft and the talent is supposed to be distributed evenly. Many guys have told me they've volunteered to help coach their kid's team and they basically got the cold shoulder.

Anyway, I took over a team that was horrible last year because my son begged me. His coach last year sucked (never went over any fundamentals, no drills, nothing. Just scrimmaging against each other in practice without even correcting them on what they were doing wrong). Nobody wanted to do it, and even though I didn't want to get involved with these jagoffs (the other coaches), I volunteered. I also thought it would be kinda funny to teach these idiots a thing or two because I constantly saw coaches do retarded things last year (waving kids on to third base to eventually get thrown out when they were down by a run in the last inning, etc. ). Anyway, the guy who runs the league and manages the best team, who happens to be the most decent guy out of them all, asked me if I would help him coach all-stars because the other guys are all idiots. Should be fun coaching a bunch of kids who can actually comprehend what you're telling them (I've got some real winners on my team).

One other thing, Plow- your local league may have an unwritten policy against guys whose kids aren't on the team coaching. You probably gave them a weird vibe. :LMAO: j/k

  7. This was posted May 6th. Where are the up dates?

:brooding: 3-4-1 as of right now. Actually, we've lost four out of five, but two of them were to an undefeated team that's by far the best in the league, and the other two were one-run games. We have four fairly easy games left, so I'm hoping we can finish above .500. If you don't hear from me again, we didn't. :)

  8. I would view that the same way I viewed the thought of Pedro coming to the Yankees... :puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke:

Nah, it's a long season, and it wasn't even a "bad" loss. What I am bitter about is guys on the other team who you can't even trust to play the game fairly. Hey, if you guys don't mind cheating to get you there (and so far it hasn't), then go for it.

  9. For the tickets he's sell, George will allow him to set up camp in his office.

I think the Yanks are pretty topped-out on ticket sales. I mean, how many more tickets can they sell than they do right now? New Yorkers, especially Yankee fans, hate Bonds worse than anybody. I don't think people will be knocking each other over to go see Bonds in a Yankee uniform at all.

  10. I don't want to act spoiled but we should be in position to win the next two. Any game Pedro pitches we have to win, and Small sucks now while Glavine is still a solid starter.

I'm not expecting to sweep the Yanks, but we couldn't be in better position.

You should be able to win Sunday, but I wouldn't go counting my chickens with Pedro vs. Mussina just yet. Remember, he's practically .500 against them in his career, and Mussina is usually at his best in the regular season when the Yanks need a win.
