  1. Plex didn't fumble the ball, Jacobs did.. though. As for McQuarters fumble.. he wanted to do too much.. and didn't take care of the ball like he should have.

Ah, but Plax did fumble it! On the great catch he made with his fingertips that bobbled around a bit, he hauled it in, took off, and then fumbled the ball. It went out of bounds though, luckily. Just sayin' and I agree with what you are saying about him trying to do too much. He needed to just go down there.

  2. You want to know the real bottom line?

The Giants to this point have beaten every team they were predicted to lose to in the playoffs.

They beat the Buccaneers with the Giants personal nemesis Jeff Garcia @ QB for the Bucs.

They beat the Cryboys who they were not only predicted to lose to but some were predicting the game to be over by halftime (that means you Joe Buck & Troy Aikman). Who, after losing, cried about it on national television (T.O.), admitted they were comfortable with playing poorly (Romo) and then didn't even have the class to admit they lost to a better team (Bummer Phillips).

They beat the Packers who NOBODY thought they would even come close to..... bad weather, Eli's record in poor weather, the HOF Brett Favre throwing 2 picks to Eli's 0, it taking 3 times to be a charm for Tynes, ect.

The real bottom line is that every time people have doubted this team they have come up huge in situations where everyone thinks they will falter.

They played Dallas twice during the regular season and beat them when it counted.

They played Green Bay during the regular season and beat them when it counted.

They played New England during the regular season and almost won the game when there was NOTHING for them to gain by playing.

This team is in the Super Bowl against a familiar opponent, with every potential prognosticator predicting their demise.

This is why they play the game..... because on any given Sunday one team wins and the other team loses... no matter what the odds are.

This season isn't over yet for the Giants.... it is for some others but not for them, they have the opportunity to put their names into the history books as does New England..... it should be one hell of a game.

  3. Well the FoxSports article reported that Fassell has already had a 2nd interview, while I just saw on ESPN that Fassell WILL HAVE his 2nd interview with Washington. Interesting. If it's a 3rd interview upcoming, here's hoping he gets it! I would rather the 'Skins get Jim than have Washington and Atlanta competing over Spags.

  4. McQuarters SUCKS BALLS!!!

I completely disagree and am willing to bet there is not another team in the NFL whose 4th best cornerback is as good as McQuarters, and who is also as dangerous. He sealed the Dallas win AND set up a go-ahead touchdown in the Green Bay game with a huge return, something he's done numerous times this year.

  5. I remember that blowhard Mike Fransceca or whatever that ball lickers name is on WFAN saying that prior to the game and saying "If the Giants need to kick anything over 40 yards to win they game they lose."

There is something about that guys voice that makes me wish I could reach through the radio and just nail him to make him shut up. That voice.....it is like he has Jerry Jones' balls in his mouth and his man juice covering his vocal cords. There are times I can't help but change the station I loathe his voice so much.

That made me laugh. I guess I also have a perverted sense of humor.

  6. Well I believe we do have flexibility under the cap. Kind of the curse of success. With the team doing so well, everyone who can will want to parlay that success into $$$. I think re-signing Gibril will be a top priority, over re-signing Mitchell. I like Mitchell a lot, and if we can afford him, by all means we need to keep him. But we do have the draft, we've been drafting really well. Kiwi is coming back, and no matter what, we have a great core of defensive players, even more so if Strahan returns. Part of me thinks that if we win the big one Stra will hang 'em up, though. I'm excited about the future of this team. So many of the young guys have shown great ability. I think Webster has turned the "Corner" so to speak and disagree with Lubeck. If Madison is not a FA, we let him play the nickel, Ross and Web are starting caliber now. We keep McQuarters for depth and dime package and also because he has been a very valuable kick returner. I'm torn about WR. Toomer has played great but he is over the hill! I very much value Malcolm Kelly from Oklahoma. This guy I think is going to be a superstar and I want the Giants to get him so that he's the heir apparent to Toomer. Smith has been great but would like to keep him in the slot. So much to look forward to with this team!

Anybody have a list of upcoming Giant FAs?

  7. Well I would say Ross and Madison also.

Lug, I agree with this, but throw in Webster. I think Spidey has played himself into the starters role. I would bet my paycheck that Madison will be the nickel against the Patriots yet again. Not that it is an easy assignment - Wes Welker. All the matchups will be tough. I assume it will be Ross on Moss, Webster on Stallworth, and Madison on Welker. All tough matchups. Another guy that needs to have a big game is Johnson. He is going to need to help a lot on the NE receivers, while watching for Watson and even Kevin Faulk on 3rd downs.

  8. "We were one good safety away from winning both regular searson's games vs Dallas" -Me .. I forgot the exact date...

Just like a redskins fan said about his team.. stating they're not that far off from the Giants.. it's amazing what little fixes to a team can do here and there...

LOL. I love Redskins fans. They think there team is still really good. To me, they are not close. I know they won one from us and the other was a close game, but they are a middle of the pack team to me. Campbell is still a year maybe 2 away from carrying that team, Portis is getting up there. They have good WRs, but there is not enough there, and they are in perpetual salary cap hell. And their All Pro safety just got killed.

  9. Here's some newer good stuff from ESPN.com, from Green Bay fans:

DKJOHNSON82: NY Giants. As a die hard Packer fan, I give you the utmost congradulations. Your team ended a great season for us. No excuses, you just beat us. Good luck in the Superbowl!

GBChic: Well said DK. And, in the grand scheme of things. I would have MUCH rather lost to these guys then if we had lost to those $#%#@$#@ cowboys. LOL

GBChic: iceman, it was wonderful. Really. I don't know if it's because I was with him, but the Packer fans were just awesome. Sevreal came up to him as we were leaving the stadium, shook his hand or patted him on the back and congratulated him. No hateful remarks, no name calling, nothing rude.

It just makes me even more proud to be a fan of the Green and Gold. Our players and our fans are class acts.

noah92591: As a Packers fan i wish you guys look in the Superbowl. You deserve it the most. You out played GB and Dallas. Eli looks better than ever. Good luck and great season Pack.

GBChic: Okay, it's 10:00, and we finally have something to eat! Woohoo! I'll be back later.

Congrats again to the Giants. Game well-played. Now PLEASE kick the Pats #$%@#$

JPark627: Well, I don't know about you but, though I am not on the team, this loss was the most painful since the 97-98 Superbowl.

bpbalfany: What a game. Statistically, the Giants should have scored another 20 points, and the Packers shouldn't have scored at all. It was hard fought football, and the better team came out on top. I think that the Packers had some very bright spots, but ultimately, were too inexperienced. Being a Packer fan myself, I give props to both teams. It was nice to see the Giants play such great football, and it was nice to see the Packers make it as far as they did this season. When it's all said and done, the Packers don't play next week, and the Giants do. Favre knows that, Eli knows that, and I think we all know that. Here's to what is, not what could have been!

gsg45jg: I'm a GB fan and G-men won Buress made toast on Harris all nite goodluck in SB What does ingoreuser icon do?

Green Bay fans are the classiest fans in the league. Um... except for you guys of course!

  10. how about pierce taking on three blockers and ryan grant on that one screen play to prevent a TD

Uh, that was #2! Awesome play though! I really think that was the defensive play of the game, all due respect to Corey Webster!

Aaron Ross had another awesome tackle that caused the WR to drop the ball. Remember the low hit he put on that just leveled the receiver in the flat? It was awesome. I think Aaron Ross is gathering a reputation for being a big hitter!:rock::rock: :worshippy:

  11. "ass mouth"

    "bailing"

    "band wagon"

This is a good post. These words describe you accurately, Bigblue. And I did see myself as the Italian Hotdog complaining in a post about questionable emails last year. I am going to contact myself. :o We will compare notes. :o

Not a very intelligent decision, BigBlue.

    Fixed!

  12. I totally disagree about Tomlinson. Perhaps he was not allowed back in the game. The HC has the ultimate authority there. And if he can't make his cuts, then Turner should go, because Turner could start for a lot of teams in the NFL. I still believe that Rivers hurt his team by trying to play as well. Volek was/is more than capable of moving that offense. Rivers was a sitting duck. It really was horrible watching him limp around in the pocket, knowing he couldn't even side-step away. And the Patriot front seven knew it, too. Is he tough? Hell yeah. But tough doesn't matter when you can't make the plays. Volek should've played.

  13. Agree with all of them. Add Hixon's fumble recovery on the punt cause even though that didn't net us any points (I think that was the second fg miss) that could've ended up REALLY bad.

True! On that play, #24 Jarrett Bush for Green Bay was GOING to recover the football. Actually had it in his hands momentarily. #43 Geoffrey Pope came diving in and swiped it right out of his hands, keeping it alive. That was big by Pope as well.

Gateb: The Hixon return was very much needed at the time! Also a big play!

  14. No matter what, we've added another trophy to the case. It's not the big one (yet). But nobody can take away the feeling we've had from the Giant magic that has been taking place... and we can't wait to see how it all unfolds.

  15. Just thought I'd share a couple plays that I thought really stood out that didn't get a lot of attention and were big plays:

    1) In the series after Green Bay got the ball back after McQuarters fumbled the INT, Corey Webster tackled the Packer RB 7 yards deep off a swing pass while shedding a block at the same time.

    2) Antonio Pierce tackling Ryan Grant on the middle screen with one arm WHILE being blocked. He just hung on and waited for help. If he doesn't make that play, the Grant has a lot of room to run and an escort in front of him. That was a tremendous play.

    3) Kevin Boss recovering the Jacobs fumble at the goal line was HUGE. Jacobs scores on the next play.

    4) The fingertip catch by Plaxico where he juggles the ball but hauls it in anyway. He fumbled it on the same play, but the fumble went out of bounds so it didn't hurt us. With a ball that was probably a rock, the degree of difficulty on that catch was immense.

I would include the Toomer sideline catch but I think we already have that one covered as an awesome play!
