  1. And how do the Phillies respond after a World Series win? Do they re-invest in their team? No. They let Pat the Bat go (I'm sure you're in mourning, Ggirl), and bring in a 36 y/o LF who is a defensive liability, they re-sign a 46 y/o for the rotation, and sign CHAN HO PARK of all people.

    Wow.

Ibanez could be considered a defensive upgrade matched up against Burrell. I love Burrell and everything he's done year in and year out, but he's not the reason they won. He didn't even get a hit in the WS until game 5. Like I said, I love the guy but he's too streaky for a roster that's already littered with inconsistency. Besides, the core of this team is still together. Utley, Rollins, Hamels, Howard, Victorino - these guys are the reason they won. And as things stand now this team will be together for the forseeable future.

When does Utley come back? June? July?

Originally they said June, but he held a press conference the other day and said he expects to be back for the opener...then walked off without a wince or a limp or anything. Time will tell.

  2. Yup, and lets face it other than the language barrier there aint no difference between Victorino and his antics and reyes and his, even the most diehard Philly fans can admit that.

    Absolutely, very similar personalities.

So we're just gonna ignore Victorino clapping right in reyes's face the night before then stomping on home plate?

He's a bigger douche then Reyes.

Uh, no. Thats's the whole point. It's a bit more effective to point out how stupid you look when you use someone else as an example and say "you look just like that when you pull your shit."

  3. Then why are they writing Jose Reyes's name on clubhouse pictures?

To remind their teammates how stupid they look when they start douching it up every time they make a big play.

  4. Sorry to miss this little "bet" until the morning after. :)

I was already on my way to Citizen's Bank Park at 4 pm. :P

One hell of a night, is going to turn into one hell of a day...on 4 hours of sleep. :brooding:

It was a great game! (I even owned the jumbo-tron--due to a camera man with a fetish for blondes :P ) We are the "Phightin' Phils"!!

    1.

    :TU:

You were at the game too? I took my daughter and my oldest son down last night, and much to my suprise they lasted the whole game. Of course about 10 seconds after we got into my truck in the parking lot they were both out like a light, but they were good for the game.

  5. I am quite disappointed that no Phils fans have come to our little humble section to interject some of their thoughts into the recent battles between their NL east champs and the surging Mets. It was quite a treat to read their thoughts through most of this season and particularly last September when they were on that magical ride. Truly a real disappointment.

I'll say the same thing today that I said a month or two ago when half the Met fans here were giving up on the team - the Mets are simply too talented to suck like that all season long. I knew the Phils would go cold, and I knew the Mets would get hot. What suprises me is that the Phillies, who've played like shit pretty much since the beginning of June are still in first place even after a skid that long and that ugly.

I expect it to be a tight race between the Mets and the Phils from here on out. I'm still not convinced by the Marlins, I just get the feeling that they're gonna fizzle out for some reason.

  6. Pat Burrell will be a free agent as well (as much as he's hit at Shea, I'd welcome him, although it would kind of be like sleeping with the enemy).

I don't think Burrell's going anywhere...he's in the process of having about $2 million worth of work done to his penthouse in Rittenhouse Square here in Philly, and he's said a number of times that he wants to stay.

Besides, I don't think he hits particularly well at Shea, just against the Mets in general. And if Billy Wagner is still on the roster, there's no way he goes to NY. My guess is that if he doesn't re-sign with the Phils he goes to the AL to be a DH somewhere.

  7. I hate the Braves more than the Phillies actually.

None withstanding, you make the playoff against a decent pitching team,

you aren't winning a single game. Look no further than the Texas Rangers of

the late 90's...they could mash the ball, but when they played the Yankees all

    those years they got whupped.

On top of the best bullpen ERA, the Phils have the 4th or 5th best team ERA in the NL. The Phillies are known for their lineup, but their pitching has been pretty damn good so far itself.

  8. Umm, I have missed 3 games since 1991 at Giants Stadium, all due respect No it does not.

My 5 year old cousin was boed in 1999 at the Vet with a Strahan jersey, 5 years old. They made the kid cry. You do that in my section at Giants stadium to a kid in an Eagles jersey you are getting a beat down and will be embarassed. Its completely different.

Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it's not happening. I've seen it with my own eyes quite a few times.

  9. Well, since all I can go on is how people are treated as visiting fans at the Vet/Linc compared to here at Giants STadium the answer is 'yeah compared to the rogues in Philly Nyers look like refined Brits'

The same shit happens in the meadowlands, don't kid yourself.

  10. Yeah I've been up there before, it's no good. If you're in town again, try to get down to the corner of Snyder and Weccacoe in S Philly to a place called John's Roast Pork. It's a dive looking place, but they've got the best sandwiches in the city down there, and not just cheesesteaks, although their steaks are phenomenal.

I'm actually originally from North Jersey, my parents moved down here when I was little. My dad made sure to raise me as a Giants fan, but he doesn't care all that much for the other sports, so it didn't bother him that I rooted for the Phils and Flyers.

  11. Teuf, what part of Philly do you live in? Cause I played some matches in Philly

and played schools like Holy Family and the University of Sciences, are you close to them?

Have you heard of the cheese steak place "Steve's"?

I grew up in South Philly, but I live in the suburbs right outside of SW Philly now. Holy Family is on the other side of the city from me, that's in the NE section. U of Sciences is right in University City, I'm only about 15 minutes away from there.

Is it Steve's Prince of steaks? That's up in the NE section too, right near the Nabisco plant.

  12. Ashame his name is Chase though, pretty gay first name.

P.S. The guy is a real prick, I've met him before and he wasn't a nice guy

    at all.

Really? I've met him probably a half dozen times and he's never been anything but a great guy. Always real polite and friendly, didn't mind signing autographs for the kids.

  13. Pathetic? There's a guy who will do anything, and I mean anything, to get on base and help his team out. Shades of Charlie Hustle in this kid, I wish the Phils could put 9 guys like him out on the field every night. How many guys in the league can you say that for? Besides, he has to hug the plate because he can easily put an inside fastball over the wall and every pitcher knows it, so they all pitch him away.

  14. It will have to be someone that nobody would believe used roids or hgh, someone who isn't a loud mouth, loved by the hometown fans, someone with a personality that can capture the heart of America.

Basically, it would have to be a young Griffy Jr.

Ryan Howard...I don't know of anyone who thinks he's juiced, he's been a fatty and a home run hitter all of his life. He's not all full of himself, and he's definately got the personality that draws people in. He's always got that goofy grin on his face.

  15. I was not bitching I was MOCKING...

    Bush League simple as that.

Bush league? How is it bush league? It was one of the most important moments in the entire season and part of the reason that they even made it into the post season and they showed it in a video montage.

By the way, "bush league" is probably the single most overrused phrase on this entire message board.
