  1. Eli's problems in the wind are more mechanical than physical. Phil Simms said as much last year as he described that in the wind you have to throw with a different arm angle and keep the ball lower on the short/intermediate throws.

The idea of trading or releasing him is as absurd as getting rid of Coughlin for a QB collector of a coach like Gruden.

  2. How's that confidence working for you now?

    :LMAO:

Considering the Yankees won 9 of 11 they were bound to lose a few. I assume their confidence is high. As for the Phils their confidence should be sky high as well, they are WS champions, just took 2 of 3 from the Yankees and Ibanez has been terrific(as I figured he would). The person who's confidence should be a little rattled though is Mr. Lidge......

  3. I think it has been mentioned several times by people on here that having Pierce covering Westbrook in any situation is a dumb idea. I readily admit Spags gets a pass and Gilbride doesn't.

Still doesn't explain why you care so much about Giants fans arguing about their offensive coordinator.

I am starting to think he is a Giant fan who likes to strum up controversy as an altar ego poster.........

  4. He may be self interested, but that man can coach. No way does Willie Randolph/Jerry Manuel

get the 2000 Mets to the World Series.

The Mets would have not collapsed in 2007 and 2008 if he were managing either.

Lets be fair though, Bobby V's 98 team did choke away the WC by losing to the Marlins late in the year and they almost blew the 99 WC and need a minor miracle to get to game 163 in Cincy. Not to mention they had the Cards to thank for knocking off the Braves in 00. I like Bobby V, but its not like he was Miller Huggins with the Mets.

  5. I have to say that watching these games on tv, Met fans seem to be well represented at Fenway, and that never happens there. Probably a combination of Sox fans starting to get a little complacent, and Met fans being on top of the situation when the tix went on sale. Considering the way your last two seasons ended, I have to admire your dedication to your team. Two good wins for you guys, absolutely brutal loss for us last night. Hopefully we can take the finale today.

Hey thanks man...Coming from a Sox fan that is high praise because really before 2004 no fans of any teams knew more heartache than the Sox fans did, so in a way I know they know the pain that met fans live with and then some.

  6. You just explained the difference between a willing student and an unwilling student. Tiki redefined his game, while Bradshaw has failed to make the necessary strides. Entering him into the game last season simply carried a lot of risk, which is why most of his playing time happened when we were comfortably ahead.

The team hasn't given up on him by any stretch of the imagination, but I can tell you that the negative whispers about his work ethic aren't completely unfounded.

Lets not forget when Tiki became a good RB he was in his 4th year and when he became a great RB and made the adjustments to become great he was in his 8th year.

  7. Although I tend to agree with Dog about Gilbride as its hard to argue the things he brought up, where I will say I was frustrated with him(and Coughlin because he is the HC and the buck stops there) was the play calling IN THE RED ZONE(green zone as the Giants call it)in the Philly playoff game. Too many times the Giants executed things well that day between the 20's and when they got inside scoring distance its like they changed the playbook specifically for that part of the field instead of just doing what they do well.

I know people want to crucify Gilbride all the time, but one thing that No one ever wants to realize is he is executing the type of offense Tom Coughlin likes to run and has always run every place he has been. Power run game and a deep passing offense. So if you do not like Gilbride then look Tc's way.

It will be interesting to see what they do in terms of the passing offense now and the routes they run as opposed to what they did before.

  8. It's time for Martinez to go back down to AAA. They need a middle infielder right now badly. It was the worst time for Cora to go down with the thumb injury. Unfortuntely there is no one in AAA. The only person I can think of is Argenis Reyes who can't hit but at least he can play the field. Seriously though, is Tatis really worse than Martinez out there at SS?

Speaking of another Martinez, Fernando might get a call up soon. He has been looking great in the last month hitting over .355 with 6 homers.

If he is not gonna play everyday there is no need to call him up. Want to call him up then he plays LF everyday no matter what, good and bad. They should be doing the same with Murphy at 1B as well, only way he is gonna get better is fighting through this slump.

  9. Fair enough, but there are people in Cleveland who flat out hate Michigan players, so he's not far from telling the truth there and Kellen Winslow talking in general is bad news for the world, he's such a moron.

I'm just saying that in the grand scheme of things, there wasn't a full fledged assault by Edwards to get himself traded out of Cleveland, maybe becuase he thought it was inevitable, but it certainly wasn't as diva as something TO might have pulled.

No he certainly was not TO, Ocho Stinko, or even Boldin for that matter

  10. Let's be fair, Edwards never really actively shopped himself, nowhere near the levels that some other players do. The Browns were more interested to see what he was worth. Hqwever it's going to seem like he wanted out of town and now he has to do damage control.

What he did was bad mouth the people of Cleveland saying they hate him because he is from Michigan. His former teammate Kellen Winslow going on some radio show in Tampa saying Edwards wanted to be a Giant did not bode well either.

  11. Now I am no Church fan, in fact I do not think he is all that good and its deploreable that a man would completely miss 3rd base, but Jerry Manuel HAS TO under ANY circumstance go out there and argue for his player. I do not care if he does not like Church, which its apparent he does not, he has to go out there.

My guess is this team will see the last of those 2 if this type thing continues.

  12. They talked about that bullshit for 15 minutes.

And that might top the list of dumbest things I've ever heard during a game. A flawless player in a game where getting a hit 3 out of 10 times gets you in the HOF?

Amen, and really who is a flawless player? Albert Pujols MAYBE? AROD? Johan Santana?

Stupid and more shit that this team should use as motivation

  13. Steve Philips just said that the reason the Mets are not so great is that they lack a "flawless" player. Morgan just bitch slapped his bitter/angry/jealous theory down, but would I would have asked is who is a flawless player? Roger Cedeno? Roberto Alomar? Todd Zeile? Daryl Hamilton? Kevin Appier?

What a bag of douche Philips is.

  14. good cf in philly, not in sf where his noodle arm is exposed. his pitch choice is dominican like.

regardless, mets 3, 4 and 5 are very solid. all they need is a catcher to be solid 1-8

not in love with Omir Santos huh? I agree they need a better catcher, but they can get by with this platoon. I am happy about Sheffield and know he can hit, but they must get Murphy back in the mix. My guess is with Delgado down now they will

  15. shows the difference between the 2 divisions- both teams came in with the same record but obviously worlds apart.

these guys from fox are such jerks

blu, I think the Giants hit the Mets at the wrong time. The Mets are playing well and showing something(at least me) a fight in them that I have not seen since 2006, even all of 2007 when they were good for 5 months or last year when they won 10 in a row.

I am impressed with the Giants as it stands with their pitching, particularly Lincecum and Cain and even some of the young arms out of the pen. I think with some added offense somewhere they have a real chance to be very competitive in the near future. IMO Rowand is a player you win with as is Molina. I know they are not superstars, but they are players you win with and I think the Giants are one big time player away from being a very good team as opposed to say a .500 or couple games north and south each way.

I would hope that Randy Johnson is adding something to those young kids, the lefty in particular who like a young Randy did seems to have trouble throwing strikes.

  16. i think the organization has to share the blame. they've always had the middle child syndrome.

I but that theory blu, but they do tend to overhype their own. Sometimes it works out when you can deal players like Stan Jefferson, Shawn Abner, Floyd Youmans, Herm Winningham and get back good players like Gary Carter and Kevin McReynolds, but from Gregg Jeffries to Alex Ochoa to what will no doubt occur with Fernando Martinez it just becomes tiresome. Then they go shit on guys who are actually good like Wright and years ago to a lesser extent Strawberry and Dykstra.

  17. Ah yes, Billy Wagner syndrome.

Well I don't know about that as we have not seen him in a huge spot yet, but along those lines I suppose of not wanting the 8th yes.
