Santana hasn't really been able to establish a solid pitching schedule to get into a rhythm either. That is also a good sign to me because the playoffs always screw up pitchers schedules and many can't adjust. (See Musina and Trachsel) Now we have to get there.

Church has been excelent. He plays fantastic defense, and his offense has left nothing to be desired so far.

Reyes.....man. Sometimes he flashes his old self, other times he looks like a space cadet out there. I hope his bat gets going and that straightens his head out. I really enjoy watching him play when he is having fun.

I don't even know what to say about Heilman any more. I always thought he had what it takes to excel in the league, but I think he may be done. He might just need a new start in a new city. Am I confused or was Heilman the one that a minor league pitching coach noticed he was dropping his arm angle lower than when he was in college? Then he came out and pitched very well for a good span of time. Maybe I'm mistaken.

They both said essentially the same thing. That the spanish speaking "leaders" of the team don't step up to the mic when times are tough. How many Delgado quotes do you read throughout the season? Not many that I can remember. I hardly ever see a Reyes quote and even Beltran quotes are sparse. You think this is possibly because the spanish speaking players are protected in the club house by "the crony"? I've heard that rumor before. Smoke and fire friends.

What has Acta ever done in his managing carrer? The Nationals certainly aren't the class of the National League. If you are gonna knock Maz for his record, you have to do it with Acta. The bottom line is, no manager of a New York team will ever be good enough, because they ALL make questionable decisions and will get killed for them. Also any manager brought in here will not be affective because they will be undermined by Omar and his crony. The players won't respect a manager with no bite, because it doesn't really matter what he says.

Maybe Willie should grab a fuckin bat and show the team what it's like to care about getting big hits EVERY day. The bats on this team are pathetic. Why is no one looking HoJo's way?

Man....I'm a pretty big Willie defender, but that was some terrible managing. How do you keep him in long enough to give up 4 runs in a tie game?! The answer to that question better be that Smith wasn't ready yet, but if that's the case, haven't the Mets ever heard of any stall tactics. Catcher out to the mound, Delgado to the mound, Heilman hang out at the back of the mound?!?! WTF.

Heilman fucking sucks.

He has to get his head straight man. You can tell he would be able to dominate any hitter, but he can't get out of his own damn way.

This game really got away from us. I'm disappointed in Duaner today.

xxi, any other time I would definately agree with you. I'm pretty much thinking along the same lines as gateb on this one. I think we can all agree that Wagner is an asshole who struggles in the biggest spots, but somebody had to be the bad guy. This team just seems to be on a year long sleep walk. They have a great, fundamentally sound, well played game all around, followed by a game that looks like a bunch of little leaguers are playing. The same old "It happens, it'll happen again, we just have to support each other and pick each other up" lines are getting fucking old. That's why I don't have a problem with him being the dick on the team. Like gateb said, better him than D. Wright.

Reyes just ran outta gas at the end. That would have been cool.

Maybe he wasn't told about the wall comment. I can't tell.

Or your teammates. I thought I read on Mets blog that Ollie agreed that he couldn't pay attention during a conversation. I'll look for it. I think Wagner was probably joking around with that statement though. I didn't hear his tone of voice, I only read it.

I don't have a problem with it either. He's a deuche, but I can see what he's doing. Hopefully he pulled Perez aside and let him know what he is up to. I saw a quote from Ollie that said he didn't have a problem with it.

I really like listening to Ron Darling, but I think he started this whole thing with his overreaction to it.

I'm not sure he overreacted, I think he just pointed it out. Actually I thought Gary was the one who wouldn't really let it go, trying to figure out why it's different then the Beltran situation. Ron said it was his perogative to not answer the call, and it was the correct way to respond to the fans if you aren't happy with them.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. The real fans who follow the team day by day won't really care about that situation, but the fans who only listen to the FAN and read the headlines will give him crap about it.

Delgado got it goin a little today. I have no problem with him not coming out for the curtain call either. Maybe that will teach the fan base a little patience, although I doubt it. Maybe we should make a rule. No fucking booing in APRIL!!

I'll take those runs, but to not drive in ANY of them with a man on third and no outs, is extremely disappointing.

I wonder if he could be sent down to the minors to work things out, his mechanics are out of whack and he has no trust in his pitches right now.

I don't think he can be sent down, but what the hell is Rick Peterson up to? Doesn't he watch and work with them daily. Maybe Aaron just isn't executing what Rick is telling him to do.

I know a lot of you guys don't like Heilman, but I've always liked him and thought he had good stuff. I've been watching him very closely lately and this is what I have noticed: It seems to me that when he was at his most dominant, his arm angle was much closer to a 3/4 angle. Ever since this season started his arm angle for the most part is almost completely side arm, and that is not even consistantly so. Some pitches he delivers at a higher angle, but many are very side armed. When his fast ball specifically comes from the side arm angle, it stays flat with a horizontal break only. The ball just stays on the same plane and breaks back across the plate. When that ball came out of the 3/4 angle it tended to drop quite a bit, making it much harder to hit. Any Thoughts?

A satisfying game to watch. Nice to see Jose's bat start to wake up. Wright had a fantastic game. That last RBI double he had was such a fantastic AB. Just spoiled all the "pitchers" pitches until he finally got a hitters' pitch and he creamed it.

 

Pelfrey did a great job, and to top it all off, Duaner came in and looked good. Would've liked to have seen that fastball up in the 90's again, but we may have to wait for that. Hopefully he will get that back. Regardless, he kept his pitches down and had good command, and it was just fantastic to see him back on the mound again. Happy times are here again.

Why didn't Shea boo him when he gave up his one hit, like they do when Heilman pitches a scoreless inning.
