  1. He's LB. And his time is running out too.

The Eric Moore "experiment" at linebacker has officially ended. He's been moved back to DE permanently.

As for those of you who think playing DE has anything to do with bicep size, you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. All the strength required to do anything as a pass rusher comes from the lower body. This was why Strahan was able to shed so much upper body mass without losing a step. It's all in the base. For those of you who are concerned about the size of his biceps, he's now a professional football player and can spend as much time as he wants getting them big for when he's on TV. They'll be looking good for you by the time the season starts.

  2. I wouldn't set the bar too high yet for Seawright until we actually see him in action. I don't think we'll actually hear Coughlin and Accorsie say anything negative about our DT's, but, you also have to take what they say with a grain of salt.

I'm not, which why I said that we'll have to wait until camp. But I don't think Seargent Coughlin is one to out of his way to praise a players condition if he doesn't mean it. For example, if Seawright were not in good shape having his head coach describe him as being in phenomenal shape would not help motivate him to work harder. TC doesnt strike me as the type of coach who will say things just to placate the fans if it's completely untrue and would actually be detrimental to the team.

Obviously we won't know until we see these guys in action. But to answer the queston about who to expect playing for us when the season comes around, Ill have to go with the players that the coach is praising for their hard work heading into camp.

  3. In a recent interview, TC noted that Jonas Seawright is 340 and in great shape. He also sounded very excited about Duckett's ability and fitness heading into this season. I deduced from the interview that those two would be getting almost all of the playing time next to Willie Joe.

If it's the case that Seawright and Duckett are in as great shape as TC made it sound, I think we will be fine this season. He describe Jonas as "going to be unblockable." I don't think we'll really know until we see these guys in camp, though. But overall, I'm not too concerned. They just need to occupy blockers so that the playmakers surrounding them can make plays.

Cofield is a question mark at this point. If he performs well in camp and practice he might get some time in the rotation.

I dont expect anything from Robbins. Last I heard, he was in terrible shape.

  4. "Kiwi" will be lucky to be active for 2006...he is severly undersized and would be tossed around like William Joseph...

Tuck is going to demand PT, possibly a starting spot in the front 7 mix somehow...he, Osi , Strah, and if Lavar can stay healthy will need to be on the field all at once...

Kiwi is the same size as Strahan and a little bigger than Tuck so going by your logic, neither of those guys should be on the field either.

  5. When TC talked about our pass rush last week he failed to mention Tuck as well. Im beginning to think that he's kinda the odd man out. I agree with them that Kiwi is the better prospect but I thought that they wanted to keep Tuck in the mix as well. Im curiious to see how this thing shakes out during camp.

  6. Here are some things he said:

    - This is definitely his last year.

    - Said that they were going to make a point of getting Osi, Strah, Kiwi and Lavar on the field for passing plays. Didnt say anything about Tuck.

    - When we traded from 25 to 32 there were 5 guys still on our board. Kiwi was #1. Moss was one of the others.

    - Moss had surgery on his finger right before the senior bowl. They were impressed with his ability to play through it.

    - Wikerson will play the WILL for us, but can play every LB postion. He seems to be their favorite draft pick.

    - Jai Lewis is projected to be either TE or DT. Practice squad this year.

    - Really happy with Anthony Mix.

    - Talks about the strength of the NFC east. No easy teams.

  7. 2006 NFL DRAFT PICKS

    1st Round Pick (NYJ) - 4th overall - D'Brickashaw Ferguson (OT)

1st Round Pick (DEN) - 29th overall; acquired in John Abraham 3-way trade - Nick Mangold ©

2nd Round Pick (DAL) - 49th overall; acquired from Dallas - Kellen Clemens (QB)

3rd Round Pick (PHI) - 76th overall; acquired from Philadelphia - Anthony Schlegel (ILB)

    3rd Round Pick (Compensation) - 97th overall - Eric Smith (S)

    4th Round Pick (NYJ) - 103rd overall - Brad Smith (RB/WR/QB)

4th Round Pick (KC) - 117th overall; acquired as compensation for HC Herman Edwards (KC) - Leon Washington (RB)

5th Round Pick (DAL) - 150th overall; acquired from Dallas - Jason Pociask (TE)

6th Round Pick (WAS) - 189th overall; acquired from Dallas - Drew Coleman (CB)

7th Round Pick (PHI) - 220th overall; acquired from Philadelphia - Titus Adams (DT)

I don't think the first 2 picks could have been any better. These two players will go a long way in laying the foundation for the team. Clemens was also a great pick.

    A++ on 1st 3.

Not a fan of Schlegel, I thought this was the only bad pick in the draft.

I like e. smith a lot but thought it might be a reach. good pick though as long as he stays healthy.

Titus Adams was a solid pickup in the 7th. I thought he was 4-5 round talent at worst.

overall, phenomenal draft. the jets are still a few years away but this is a good starting point.

  8. Pflunger. Michigan was up 35-28 in OT, and Alabama scored a TD to make is 35-34. Pflunger promptly missed the extra point, and UM won. :TU:

Yeah. That was one of the craziest football games i've ever seen.

  9. I actually wanted Alexander ahead of Dayne. Back then, the only college games I watched were UM games ... I recall Michigan doing well vs. Dayne. I also remember being more impressed with Alexander in the Orange Bowl (classic game, btw)...

Ironically, anyone care to guess who the 3 stars of that game were?

I forget his name but I remember the bama kicker being famous for that game. Really solidified his place in football history.

  10. Did Buffalo reach, yes!. Did they get the player they wanted?. They think so. That's all you can ask.

Did we reach? No. Did we get the player we wanted? Yes! That's all you can ask.

  11. What's going to make some of these picks a little maddening, is when we start hearing about the players who we passed on who are succeeding on other teams...whether it's DeAngelo Williams, Kelly Jennings, John Mcargo, Nick Mangold, Santanio Holmes, Chad Jackson, D'Quell Jackson, Demeco Ryans, Rocky McIntosh, Joseph Addai, Thomas Howard, Jimmy Williams, or Winston Justice. Kiwi is most likely going to be brought along slowly, and when or if one of these other prospects has some success, where going to hear about it.

But the irony is that when most of these guys become busts we won't hear a peep.

  12. One thing that I'd forgotten about Jacobs was that he has been diagnosed with a learning disorder and is said to have difficulty learning the playbook. I wonder if this contributed to his playing only in certain situations. If this is the case, he's now had year of practice and should be ready to go this year.

  13. I look for Jacobs to get more carries this season earlier in the game...If we can give him 10 carries a game in regular situations and let him simply pound the defense and wear then down than Tiki will be even more effective later in the game

The other way works nicely too. Bring Jacobs into the game in the 4th if we have a lead and let him pound the ball against a tired defense. This is what the Steelers like to do with Bettis last year and were almost impossible to beat when they had a lead.

  14. "Working out with Jeremy and Plaxico" means hanging out at your house or the swimming pool all day, getting drunk and patronizing nudie bars at night. Looking at how Shockey and Plaxico disappeared in November and December, because they were out of shape, why would it be good that Sinorice is following the slovenly ways of TO-White and TO-Lite?

When asked on Sirius where he would work out his response was, "Wherever the coaches want me."

  15. Also, for those of you who are saying that Kiwi is too skinny or not big enough, etc...

    Mike Strahan: 6-5 260

    Mathias Kiwanuka: 6-6 265

    Justin Tuck: 6-5 268

I think he'll fit right in.

  16. I like drafting part time players in the later rounds sure.

Sinorice Moss could be an everydown player as early as next year.

Personally anybody drafted in the first/second round should be projected as a starter in 1-2 years IMO. That's why they get picked that high and it's not unreasonable. After watching Justin Tuck play last year, there is a very good possibility that when strahan does leave (which could be 3-4 years from now), Tuck could be the one to take his place.

fact is our need was DT and if we stayed where we were we could have taken McCargo. Now is it possible that he might suck after we pick him? sure. But the idea is to get a guy to play a position you need to fill. how pissed off will everybody be is this kid Kiwi comes in and sucks up the joint, everybody is going to be crying that we should have drafted a DT. Money likes to use the term you pick players not positions but last time I looked John Mc Cargo was a player.

    1. I think it's more likely that Strahan leaves in 1-2 years than 3-4. If we win the SB, hes going to retire. That could happen this year or next. And even if it doesnt, I still think it's likely.

    2. John McCargo would have been a terrible pick at 25. Obviously he's a football player (I think everyone except Jai Lewis and the other UConn bballer in this draft are as well, nobody's arguing that) but we would have been drafting him because he was the best (not even sure about that) DT on the board and not the best player. That's what we mean by you draft players not positions. I doubt Mccargo would have even contributed this year much more than someone like Cofield will. He would have been drafted for the future years not this one. Just because the Bills (the team that everyone skewers about blowing the draft every year was the one that "reached" for him by all consensus), drafted him in the 1st doesnt mean he's a great player.

    3. The chances of any DT's being a bust at 25 seemed quite high. I think almost everyone would agree that there just wasnt a DT worthy of the 25th pick.

    4. It sounds like TC is impressed with Duckett and Seawright and thinks we will be too. If that's the case, then as I said before a drafted DT wouldnt even start for us so it would have been a waste of a pick if you're only trying to draft by position.

I think the argument of drafting a DT in the 1st just doesnt work. Maybe you could make the case that we should have gotten one in the second but I think almost everyone would rather have Moss. So, as it turns out we did the best we could regarding a DT and I'm fine with our situation. All we need is to have a DT that occupies blockers and allows the gazillion playmakers on our defensee to make the plays. There are a ton of players that can fulfill that responsibility and that we will be sufficient at that position this season.

  17. I know it's been a long time since we got to see Brandon Jacobs in a situation that wasnt third and short or goal line so for those of you who have forgotten what he did in the preseason last year, here is a refresher:

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=cUtgKCONhic&sea...randon%20jacobs

So, is his role going to be the same as last year, limited only to the aforementioned situations? Or will we feature some sort of thunder and lightening attack? Maybe giving Jacobs a series here and there throughout the game...

So what do you think the coaches will do with him this year?

  18. i got this from bbi who got it from extremskins....

its about jimmy williams and explains why he was not on our board at all. doesnt sound like a TC guy at all.

"I got this from a Cowboys board - posted by a 'reliable' Cowboys fan. Very funny and revealing if true. VT sure puts out the character guys.

"I have a friend that works for the Redskins. He is not very high up in the organization, but he recounted a story that was circulating through Redskin Park about Jimmy Williams.

The Redskins brought Jimmy in for a pre-draft interview. Apparently, those interviews last a few hours and they look at a little film with the player, allow him to speak with coaches, and tour the facility. Anyway, about 10 minutes into his interview with Gibbs and Greg Williams, Jimmy's cell phone rings. Instead of turing it off, Jimmy takes the call from a friend, gets up from the table and proceeds to talk loudly to his friend for a few minutes. After he hung up the phone, he began to text message someone.

At that point, Greg Williams stood up and said that he would never allow Williams to play for him and Gibbs had Jimmy escorted out of the building."

----- explains why he dropped so far on draft day.

  19. Thanks money. This was exactly what I was looking for. Many were wondering, what could possibly make Moss the higher ranked player ahead of Jackson since he had less production during his college career and he had a slightly slower 40 time, no need to mention that hes also giving up a few inches.

Here are the two main reasons that I think that the Giants wanted Moss over Jackson:

    1. Special teams - Moss is a dynamic returner and is likely to be our future return man. This is a big factor that can't be underestimated. This way the Giants can free up the spot used by Morton who is pretty much only a returner and that roster spot can be utilized more efficiently.

    2. While Moss might be slower over 40 yards, he's the quicker player of the two. Rarely do players actually run 40 yards on a play and for what the Giants are looking for, the 10 or 20 yard dash might be more indicative. I expect the Giants to use Moss on quick screens and reverses. For these types of plays, Moss can legitimately be considered the better fit.

Looking at these two reasons helps clarify how the Giants could have possibly had Moss rated higher than Jackson on their board.

  20. well most teams and every draft site i've seen has moss ranked 3rd behind jackson and holmes. it is a matter of opinion, and i'm not going to change my mind now just because we drafted him. a lot of the players on the list have had injury plagued seasons, not to mention they are all also bigger than sinorice moss. obviously harrison and ward (6' 215lbs) are exceptions, but they are a far cry from 5'8'' 184. a lot of those players havent even contributed yet, or never really panned out.

Money, Pizan or Hound... whichever one of you had those extensive workout stats for each position, do you have the one for the wide receivers and if so, would you mind posting it? Thanks.
