  1. This guy has potential, even though he should've entered the draft a year later. I think he has the ability to surprirse people. Anyone else think so?
  2. Tyree will get his extension during Training Camp ala Will Peterson.
  3. Look for the Giants to draft one or two LB's (one high and one either far in the draft or middle) and have the high battle for the WLB spot vs Carlos Emmons.
  4. I like how he can be creative and that he is smart, but I hate his inconsistency. No, I'm not blaming him entirely on why the pass defense was bad but he definitely had plenty to do with it. It seems no matter who is playing, if he is creative and aggressive with his play calling, then the pass defense is great, if not, it stinks. You can say that the pressure from Osi and Strahan had plenty to do with the pass defenses play improving but the big reason was Lewis' change in his play-calling. Look at the 2004-2005 season. When he was aggressive the pass defense was better. Who can forget the games from Week 3 to Week 5 where the pass defense was great even with the losses of Stoutmire (3rd safety) Williams (starting SS), Will Allen still not completely 100% after his foot injury and a knee sprain that nearly caused him to miss the game vs the Eagles and of course the fact that everyone had to learn the new system. Also, a rookie (Gibril Wilson) had to start in Shaun Williams place and look at what happened. The defense was getting better and better no matter what. When Strahan and Washington (both starting DE's) went down Lewis decided to lay back on the aggressiveness. He still called some aggressive games but he didn't do so consistently. I know it's hard especially with your 2 starting DE's out for the season but you need to be aggressive. What usually happens to defenses that stand there and give you all day to throw? Your secondary sufferes no matter who is back there. Your secondary can be filled with CB's like Bailey, McAllister, Law for example and safeties like Reed and Dawkins, but if you give the QB all day to throw then they will look bad. Cushions aren't so good either. Teams can throw curl routes or slant routes on you all day and when you do get ready to play a curl route they can fake you and beat you deep. Ask Will Allen about that (Week 16 of the 2001 season). This year was the same thing, only it took longer for Lewis to be more aggressive. When he was aggressive look at what happened. Was there a million people saying that Will Allen sucks? How about people saying that Brent Alexander has no business even dressing for the game? How about the Giants have the worst secondary in the league? No, every thing stop. When you are aggressive, no matter what personnel you have, you will do much better as opposed to being "soft". The secondary this year has much better depth then in years past but Lewis needs to be aggressive and stay aggressive, especially if he and the Giants want to do plenty of damage (I think they will) this year.
  5. Don't worry, Tyree will get an extension. I think he will get his during Training Camp like Will P did.
  6. Actually, when the Giants were giving up a lot of passing yards the defense was playing soft. Notice how Lewis wasn't mad at all when asked about the high amount of passing yards given up. He just said that the DB's were playing smart and that he would take a win like 40-38 anyday, or something like that. The Giants have CB's that are better off in man coverage. You will see better results if they play more man than zone. That's why the Cardinals, the Saints, the Chargers, and the Rams. Afterwards he started to call more man and he actually let the CB's play tighter. Then the points and passing yardage went down and 3 weeks afterwards, the Giants played an extraordinary game vs the Redskins. Then the Defense was starting to get recognition. Yes the pressure was pretty good but if you watched the games closely and thoroughly, you would notice that there were plenty of times the QB had time but no one was open, plus there were several coverage sacks. This with Will Peterson out and Curtis Deloatch as the LCB and RCB in nickel defense and Webster as the LCB in nickel defense and with a team playing musical LBers. I would really like it if Allen came back and the Giants would get some safeties, even though I think Jason Shivers could possibly play well enough to get positive attention. I personally think that the Giants would be fine with teh exact same group of CB's as they had this past year, if Peterson comes back at 100%. Experience alone makes players better. That was one problem, the Giants had a very young group in the secondary. They all have one full year (another year for the non-rookies) under their belt.
  7. I don't remember where but someone had some article on teh GMB (Giants Message Board) about the highest percentage of stuffs or something like that and Joseph either had 95, 94, or 92. Robbins and Clancy had a high percentage as well but I think Joseph had the highest out of them.
  8. I left not long after my last post in this topic (I don't have internet on my computer at home so I use the computer in school) so I couldn't make the correction.
  9. It wouldn't. McKenzie is much more comfortable at RT and when the Giants mentioned about him playing LT that would've affected him wanting to play here.
  10. I wonder if Bober would comeback here, even though both of the positions he can play have starters there already (C, RT). That would make for very good depth though.
  11. They never worry me, in fact I can find it amusing at how stupid they usually sound.
  12. You, me and other people wise enough know that Petitgout leaving is a downgrade even though he gets a lot of heat. Diehl is very versatile as he can play 4 positions on the OL, but he is a better guard than tackle. As a tackle he isn't so good on passing situations, but he's very good on running plays. Your line-up is pretty good and isn't impossible at all (I heard that the Giants did have Chris Snee snap several times this past training camp if I remember correctly) as well as this possibility if O'Hara leaves. LT= Luke Petitgout LG= David Diehl C= Rich Seubert RG= Chris Snee RT= Chris McKenzie
  13. Believe it or not, Joseph played well this year. He was one of thereasons why teh run defense was playing so well. Pierce was a big reason but don't exclude Joseph. He still has some improving to do but Joseph played well this season.
  14. http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/teams/report/NYG/9280182 I'm not saying it will happen either (look at how many times the Giants were giving Diehl help blocking in passing situations), but keep this line-up in mind. LT= David Diehl LG= Rich Seubert C= Shaun O'Hara RG= Chris Snee RT= Chris McKenzie
  15. I'm also shocked that Barret Green was cut like Money and agree about him possibly declining to take a pay cut. As for Emmons, I belive the Giants are leaving him here for competition reasons. While the Giants are interested in Julian Peterson, I think the Giants will end up with a high drafted LB that they will have attempt to be the WLB. Since Emmons did get some decent playing time at WLB, he has some versatility. The Giants could have him in two battles, one for the SLB vs Reggie Torbor, and the other for the WLB vs the draft pick. As for Whittle, I'm not all that shocked about his re-lease. Yes he's very versatile (he can play LG, RG, C, and he can long snap). He was making over a million dollars this year (correct me if I'm wrong) and they needed some more cap space.
  16. It would be great IMO if the Giants can sign Fiedler and he can be effective just in case something goes wrong and Eli goes down.
  17. I actually think that when "it" all started, it wasn't during a game, it was before. I don't have the article but Eli was talking with JohnHufnagel on the train ride home. John told him to talk about what he liked to do if I remember correctly and that led to the offense being simplified for Eli and you know the rest.
