Accepts a 3 yr deal with an opt out after 1 season. The Nationals offered 5 years, I guess Cespedes wanted to come back to the Mets badly. With this rotation, and the re-tooled lineup and bullpen, this has huge potential.

Here is a theoretical lineup:

1 Granderson RF
2 Walker 2B
3 Cespedes CF
4 Conforto LF
5 Wright 3B
6 Duda 1B
7 d'Arnaud C
8 Cabrera SS

This on the back of signing Bastardo to serve as setup man. Mets will theoretically get a full season out of Conforto, Cespedes, Matz, Addison Reed, Jerry Blevins, and get Wheeler back for half a season or so, get Josh Edgin back. New additions (upgrades) at SS with Asdrubal Cabrera and at 2B with Neil Walker. They signed Bastardo as a dominant set up man and de Aza for outfield depth.

This team could win 100 games.

This is a football spike on a fantastic offseason for the Mets. Now they just need to keep this group together and hopefully get some good luck with the injuries.

That's good- De Aza is not an every day player.

He wouldn't have been even if Cespedes didn't re-sign. He would've platooned with Lagares, played 4th outfielder. Now he's a fifth outfielder, which is good for the Mets.

It's quite unbelievable that he left 9 figures on the table to resign with the Mets.
