  1. This kid is awesome. He has 42 homers and is just an unbeilevable force in the Indians lineup. With everyone else basically underacheiving there this year, Hafner has done exactly what has been expected. Two homers tonight and he just hit his second in the 8th to tie it at 2.

Retart voters didn't even put him in the All Star game. AJ Pierzynski won the Fina Man vote over him. Ridiculous. There should be a survery before the ballot to see if you're qualified to vote.

pierzynski over hafner, wut has this world come too

  2. as much as I hate to admit it, this is great move by the Eagles

He becomes the number one. I liked Reggie Brown as the number one before, and u have LJ Smith at TE who will have a monster year. I no longer regret taking McNabb in one of my fantasy leagues

  3. Hi, request from the only Dolfan on the site, but it would be appreciated.

Previously, I was using Chris Chambers wallpaper but it got deleted and so did the site so I can't get it again.

I am looking for wallpaper that would have Chris Chambers, Randy McMichael, Daunte Culpepper, Ronnie Brown, Channing Crowder, and Jason Allen. Any combination of them would work too, but I would at least like Chambers in there.

Thanks to anyone that can help me out

  4. A guy like Melky is gonna be a good player but is over achieving right now. the reason for much of melky's success is becuz he gets pitches to hit. pitchers must pitch around hitters in the yankee line up like Giambi and then r put in situations where they must pitch to hitters like Melky and Posada and Cano. I'm not dissin Melky but hes over achieving. i think the mets should've definitely traded heilman and Milledge to the A's for Zito when they had the chance

I personally do not like Zito. Since his 2002 Cy Young, he has not been the same pitcher. Although most AL pitchers that go to NL usually own, you cannot assume that will happen with Zito.

Also remember last season when the Yankes brought up Chien-Ming Wang. He pitched great during the first half, but then tore his rotator cuff or something. Many Yankees fans were begging Cashman to trade the highly touted rookie for great veterans at the trade deadline, but Cashman didn't budge. This season, he leads the Yankes in wins. Minaya made the right move in not trading Milledge.

Although, if it was Milledge for Dontrelle Willis straight up, you can't pass on that. Willis is about 25 and would have double the amount of wins of he pitched for a good team

  5. actually hes gone to about 16 out of 30 something practices not 5-7 at most

still a huge chunk of practices missing.

on another note, Steve Smith and Hines Ward has missed just about as many practices with the same injury. I barely hear a word about them.

  6. Honeymoon's over already?

Report: Cowboys fine Owens for absences

    NFL.com wire reports

IRVING, Texas (Aug. 27, 2006) -- Terrell Owens has finally pushed the Dallas Cowboys too far, drawing a $9,500 fine for missing a team meeting and a rehabilitation session and being late to an offensive meeting, The Dallas Morning News reported.

"That's our club business. That's going to be accounted for," team owner Jerry Jones told the newspaper.

The incidents occurred Aug. 24, the team's final day preparing for a preseason game against San Francisco. The Cowboys beat the 49ers 17-7, making them 3-0 this preseason without Owens playing any of the games because of a hamstring injury that's also kept him out of 19 of 31 practices since the start of training camp.

Neither team officials nor Owens' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, immediately returned calls to The Associated Press seeking comment.

During a postgame television interview, Jones did not mention the fine but answered several other questions about Owens. Jones said his only concern with the receiver is "injury, not all this other stuff you hear about."

Owens' past is filled with run-ins with quarterbacks, coaches and others in his own organization. San Francisco and Philadelphia got rid of him, but the Cowboys welcomed him with open arms and a lucrative contract in March, four days after the Eagles released him.

Owens vowed to be a better man and a better teammate in Dallas. While the fine is the most drastic, he already has done plenty to stand out.

He missed much of the offseason training program -- with permission -- and turned his hamstring injury into an attention-getter by flying in specialists to help him rehabilitate and wearing a cycling team outfit one day while pedaling a stationary bicycle.

After returning to practice for several days, coach Bill Parcells ruled him out of a Monday night game and Owens hasn't practiced since. He said he aggravated the injury because the club pushed him too hard. When Parcells said this week that he needs to see Owens on the field, T.O. responded that there's 10 years of tape to show what he can do.

Jones seemed to downplay the drama surrounding Owens' injury by noting that Carolina's Steve Smith and Pittsburgh's Hines Ward also have been slowed by hamstring injuries without drawing the same scrutiny as Owens. He also recalled Deion Sanders' ability to play well after flying in from baseball games and missing long stretches of practice.

"I know this -- when he's healthy, he's going to help us win these ballgames," Jones said.

The Cowboys play their final preseason game Aug. 31 at home against Minnesota. The opener is Sept. 10 at Jacksonville.

Even though it probably will not accomplish nothing, this is what needed to happen sooner than later. Everyone knows TO is really only playing football for the money. Just some specualtion, but I would assume that he would be happier catching 10 passes and losing a game than catching 2 passes and winning a game. How many practices has terrell even been in? I think 5-7 at the most. On the other hand, there is no way that Parcells cannot play him. Owens is arguably the best WR in the game and taking him out of the offense would be like suicide. Even though I believe they could get by with Terry Glenn as the #1, the Cowboys would not want to do that. I guess we'll just wait and see...like last year in Philadephia. Must feel good to be a Giants fan right now :TU:

  7. I haven't put my 2 cents into this Cabrera/Milledge comparison yet. So here it is.

Melky has shown that he is a more then a reliable fielder, a huscler, and a solid all around player. He came up last year and looked like he didn't belong, but he worked on his skills to fix up his game and as been a major component for the Yanks this year. His knack for the clutch whether it's on defense or offense is what has Yanks fans extremely excited. He started out with the Yanks relatively hot on offense this year but cooled down for a good month or so when pitchers figured him out. But he has adapted his game so he could manage to hit off of those pitchers and has progressed as the year has gone on. He has been moved a lot around the lineup going from literally first to last in a matter of a day. But he has proven he can hit in those spots. However, he certainly is helped out by batting where he does in the lineup and being protected by great hitters. That's the advantage of being in the AL, especially a team like the Yankees.

Now Lastings Milledge. I probably have more info to offer with Lastings then Melky because I watch him nearly every time he plays. Lastings appears to be a fine player in his own right showing some flashes of what he could be consistently in the near future. He had a somewhat rough first term in the bigs, frustrating Mets fans with his inconsistency at the plate, confusion in the field, and potential attitude problems. Even though one or two things that he may have done were blown out of proportion by the media (hi-fiving fans after hitting a home run was made out to be first degree murder by the media), he looked a little bit full of himself at times too. However lately it appears that he has tuned down a bit and looks to be more enjoyable in the dugout and is saying the right things. As for his hitting, when he gets the bat on the ball, he hits it extremely hard. In his first career at bat, he hit a frozen rope right at Craig Counsell I think it was. Even though it was an out, the pitch was on the outside part of the plate and he has the plate coverage and bat speed to pull it extremely hard. I remember on one particular hit, he hit the ball so hard that against the D'backs on the road, he barely got it over the shortstops head and then it rolled all the way to the wall just because he hit it so hard. He certainly has some pop in his bat. That's for sure. And his outs it appears to be that he is almost on the pitch, but he gets under it and hits it a mile high. So he needs to tune up his batting a little bit. Now his fielding. We saw in Fenway how confused and just bad he looked. It doesn't look like he gets a good read on fly balls either. I don't know what to say about that, I hope with time that will be fixed. But he has an extremely strong arm. He had two OF assists that come to mind, throwing a guy out running to third in his second career game and he made a big throw against the Dodgers for a guy trying to go to second. Like Melky, Lastings showed that he also has a knack for the clutch. He had that 2 out game tying solo homer off of Benitez early in his short career. True, it is Benitez but still a nice display of power for his first career homer from the kid. He also had a homer that wrapped up the game against LAA not too much longer later.

I think comparing these two is stupid to be honest. Lastings and Melky are in totally different situations with the pitcher behind Lastings and legitimate hitter behind Melky. I'd rather have Nick Green batting behind me then Pedro Martinez, or any other pitcher for that matter. Lastings showed that with protection (courtesy of blue jeans) from Chavez who batted 8th that night, Lastings teed off and had 3 hits including a homer. So time will tell with him. Melky is now an everyday player while Lastings has been in a platoon all season long.

What to add that Gateb didn't put already?

It's two different situations, and that is due to the leagues. As of now, Melky is batting with nick green behind him, although it used to be Damon (in the 9 spot) or Jeter (as leadoff). Melky usually has protection, while Pedro or El Duque won't do much for you when you're batting in front of them. Which brings up a good point:

Take the DH out of the AL. As a Yankee fan, I know this drastically hurts us. By removing the DH, leagues will be on an even playing field. All the talk of "The NL is a lesser league" will stop and it will make the game of baseball once again, the game of baseball.

  8. I have no idea how he'll do overall, and especially against the run, but I like his attitude, and hope he's thrown right into the mix on a regular basis. He's my most watched newbie this season.

One question: Why would you want to break up the best tandem of DE in the league?

  9. giants roster still has him list yet to report

    im talking about

He's listed as DT on Giants.com. He played end last year

We had him last season and he backed up JT. Didn'y get much time. He was actually demoted to 3rd string when Taylor missed two games.

I can imagine he won't get any playing time this year with Strahan, Osi, Kiwinuka, and JUSTIN TUCK!

  10. i still find it funny that fellow Yankee fans want to trade the best player in baseball (you could make an argument for Pujols or even Papi now). The guy is about to enter the prime of his career and he has accomplished so much. He has the potential to pass Aaron on the home run list. I believe he is the 400-450 range. He is closing in on 100 RBI for the season. He drews alot of walks and doesn't swing at many bat pitches. Although his play at third has not been up to par this season, he almost won a gold glove last season. IMO, the only reason he didn't was because the voters were used to giving it to A's 3B Eric Chavez. Also, to criticize him because he as the highest paid player is bullshit. Sorry VG, but you have to blame the Rangers for giving him all that money. (coff coff Chan Ho Park, now on the Padres). He is such a bad person for agreeing to that contract. If someone offered you 250 million over 10 years, I think you would do the same. Every player experiences a season or two like this over a long career. What frustrates me is that next year when he is back to MVP status, everybody who jumped off his bandwagon this year will be right back on it saying "I never doubted you Alex. MVP 07!". because that is just being a fairweather fan and nobody likes them. I have not once made any comment about trading him or that he sucks major balls or any of that crap. So when he ends next season with 50+ homers, wins a gold glove, is in the top 5-10 in the AL in BA, and once again brings glory back to his name, you guys know who said it first, Torn084.

  11. hes out of retirement after 4 days he has indeed signed with the Pats greedy bastard just wants a little hard ware before he retires completley I hope the pats go belly up this year

    link

He just didn't wanna resign with us. That bastard. I hope he's happy when the Pats don't even win the division

  12. so as i first started to watch him i thought he did a good job, but relized he just sprints up field and tries to get around the corner (which he does well) he but some pressure on the QB that did not get to much attention from the announcers. On the Kyle Boller pass that was caught by Demetrius Willams one handed around 3 Giants that was Kiwi's pressure. The next series or maybe 2 he started to come out. He was beating that scrub at LT all day getting up field on him the first play to get .5 sack. Which set him up later for the spin move which he used to put pressure on. The following play he started up field agian and when the full back came to help out on him playing the outside he spun/moved inside for the sack

Guys dont forget he was playing a scrub but he was pretty impressive...

i just hope he doesnt run up field the whole day and get killed by a draw also hope he learns a few more moves

and he needs to put weight on!!!!

kiwi was very impressive. At least your first rounder is playing right now, we jsut signed Allen, jason that is

  13. Nascar isn't for everyone, well, it is the most popular sport in the US, races routinly sell out (and we're talking 170,000 seats, not 80,000), fans buy RV's for the sole purpose of driving cross country to watch every race, etc etc, but yeah it's not for everyone.

You didn't like Talledega Nights? Cool, I wouldn't imagine someone who isn't a Nascar fan to like (or understand) a movie about Nascar, likewise, since I don't like Hockey, i wouldn't like (or understand) a movie about Hockey. (never even seen miracle)

I never realized how popular it is. I am in Myrtle Beach for the first time and I saw signs and shirts all over the place.

As for Talledega Nights, I understood because I watch sportscenter everyday and have learned it the basics.

    Agreed about hockey and miracle

  14. Any list that doesn't have the Tigers, at this point in the season, at the top is retarded. That being said:

    1. Tigers

    2. White Sox

    3. Yankees

    4. Mets

    5. Twins, even without Liriano

twins are done. they were out of it before he started, and they will fall out of it again.

    1. Tigers

    2. Mets

    3. Yankees

    4. White Sox

    5. Red Sox

2,3,4 could flip flop either way

  15. Now you went too far.

    I'm sorry I couldn't resist.

In all honesty, I don't think it would be a blow out if it happened again. I don't even know which team would win. I think one team would win 4-2, but the Yanks only go as far as Johnson does in his start.
