  1. Judging by the depth of this draft, I would imagine that doing such a thorough job of addressing team needs would implore the Giants to stay put rather than trade up. If need is not a factor, why move a few spots to take, say, Ernie Sims when you can stay at 25 and take a comparable LB (i.e. DeMeco Ryans or D'Qwell Jackson)?

Excellent point. However, for argument's sake....what about trading up for A.J. Hawk?

  2. No to Keyshawn, not now. Keyshawn is not a football player first anymore, he's a business man and he's won his superbowl.

The wideout we should have gone after is Jurevicius, but he's in cleveland now. I would have no problem bringing back Ike Hilliard as insurance as crazy as that sounds.

Jurevicius would've been a nice pickup. But we'll draft a receiver out of Joe's University in the middle of nowhere because he runs a 4.2. He won't be able to catch a cold and he won't have any field skills, but damn....he'll impress everybody in practice for 4 years while we pay him in anticipation that he'll actually learn the game of football.

Sound familiar throughout the years?

  3. I don't think Arrington is the malcontent that many do...I have a feeling that much of it was due to Snyder but Arrington is no choir boy either.

I'd prefer Peterson because I think he would fit our scheme better and wouldn't cost us nearly as much. What Arrington has over Peterson in rushing the passer and against the run, Peterson makes up in pass coverage (something we've been pretty horrible at, at the WIL).

  4. LOL, it's almost like when the ball is in the air he gets nervous that he could possibly get an int. In his head he is saying "Please don't drop it, come on catch it, here we go, just put my hands together...OH SH#$" then as all this is going through his head he gets turned over backwards and trips over his shoelaces as Moss goes in for the score.

That's only when he knows where the ball is! LOL That's about 30% of the time. The other times he's looking in one direction while the receiver is grabbing the ball directly over his head.

Unfortunately there's no cunning in Will Allen. There's no instinct. There's no field presence. No ball skills. So, so frustrating. Would have been much different if we had selected Smoot with that pick, as I wanted to. But I digress. :(

  5. I also agree to bring him back at the right price. That said, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him at the nickel by mid season.

The guy can cover receivers with the best of them. Then the ball is put in the air and he becomes one of the worst CBs in the league. One of the worst instinctive players at that position that I've ever seen at this level. That's a strong statement, but I honestly haven't seen a guy have more problems playing the ball in my life. It's atrocious.

  6. Decent signing. I like him as a return man...yes Morton is more sure handed, but I'm over Morton. He's nothing but average, that's why he bounces around every year. RW is a good guy to bring in and compete for a job. Push everybody. I don't see him winning a starting spot if Will Pete gets back, but if nothing else he adds some nice depth back there.

  7. Last year was damn good flash, contrary to what the Fab 4 thinks. Joseph played very well in 2005 before getting hurt, and the team missed him a lot, as evidenced by the decline in overall defensive performance. Last year was first time he had a full offseason program and training camp (rookie in 2003, torn pectoral in 2004), and he did very well. Now I'd like to see how he'd do playing next to another strong DT...

Part of being a successful player is staying on the field. He has showed flashes. Of course most of us understand that he played well last year, but 10 games of 3 years does not make a player.

  8. Alright, whatever you say. I don't do that, but I'm just saying regardless of how everyone here wants to view Madison, he isn't the INT CB they want. He's an older Will Allen who is better in coverage. And I don't judge CBs based solely on their INTs, you dumbass. Otherwise. I wouldn't be so pleased with the Jets cutting Ty Law, would I?

How would I know how you feel about Ty Law?

    1. I don't give a shit

    2. I don't even know who you are.

    Good point though.

  9. Giants were far from disappointed with Joseph's plat last year. He was a big reason behind the success of the defense, and if you put a competant DT next to him his skills would be evident (instead of having to compensate for a lesser player like Clancy)...

Are we talking about his career, or last year? I was talking about his career. I don't have much doubt that if he played all out--all of the time and actually stayed on the field....he'd probably turn into a pretty good DT. You, nor I, nor anybody has seen that as of yet. We've seen flashes. You can see flashes in any NFL player.

  10. you're easily confused. My point is I don't see him as a positive if he cannot stay healthy. I'm sure the stats on the Cin. Reds would show they are a much better team with Ken Griffey on the field. But if he can't get on the field, what good is he?

No need to be an asshole, it was just a question.

  11. When Patrick Surtain WAS with Miami in '04, how come Madison had zero INTs in a full 16 games? He isn't the ballhawk that Allen wasn't.

I told you I wasn't claiming this was the end all reason. I'm trying to inject some football common sense into the conversation, but it's obvious you're not hearing things that don't jive 100% with the way you think.

You're probably another guy who bases his opinions on CBs soley by their INT total.

  12. The most glaring fact is that he missed 44% of the games played. I would be surprised if he has played more than 10 games in a season yet. Let him come in shape and stay healthy and see what he can do.

Are you using that stat as an argument for him, or against him?

  13. Saying that his INT numbers were down because he wasn't thrown at is just ridiculous.

If a corner has less opportunities for INT's, chances are....he'll have less INT's. Why that is such a difficult concept to grasp is beyond me. I'm not saying it's THEE reason, but I feel what is ridiculous is to dismiss that very basic concept of football.

For the first time in 8 years, Patrick Surtain wasn't playing the opposite side of the field. Are you to tell me that as an Offensive Coordinator, you don't know that?? And since you know that, aren't you going to make a concerted effort to throw to the other side of the field? Isn't that just football common sense? Isn't it also common sense that if you have less footballs thrown to your side of the field, that very well might effect your INT total?

    Maybe it's me.

  14. For a #1 draft pick he's a disappointment at best. Right now he's a good rotation guy and a pretty decent DT. Again....very disappointing for a 1st rounder. We need to address the position through the draft, but will now have to look in FA as well to replace Clancy.

  15. If you guys knew your football like you tend to think you do, you would know that OC's go into games at times with specific plans to throw at guys (corners) and/or specifically not to throw at guys, taking advantage of matchups. If you also did your homework you'd realize that last year Madison was their best corner, you would assume he wasn't thrown at as much as some corners. Some simple knowledge about the game of football, not rocket science.

  16. The BIG difference in the picks fellas is that Will Allen was thrown at all the time, even more so when Will Peterson was healthy throughout their careers. If you were a QB or an O-Coord, wouldn't you?

Now especially last year, nobody through Madison's way.
