You're right, it's certainly not as 'mental intensive' as QB or LB, but have you seen an NFL playbook? If you have a serious learning disability, the subject matter is of no consequence, it's the lack of ability to retain information...or at least in part could be. If you can't retain the playbook, you will have problems. I think Jacobs has unlimited talent at this point. I truly hope it doesn't hold him back.

Let's see if Jacobs can win the #2 job first. I he doesn't, all this talk is moot. If he does in fact move into the #2 spot, I'd have to think he'd get as many touches as Ward did last year, which was very few. Yet at some point soon, Tiki will begin to need more rest. It's inevitable and if the coaching staff nor Tiki himself come to grips with that and give him a breather or two throughout the game, he's going to hit a wall quickly at some point and we'll be forced to use one of our backups. The learning problem is a huge issue. It doesn't mean that after a season under his belt, he'll "get it". If you have a true difficulty learning, you're going to find it extremely difficult to pick up an NFL defense and all it's intricicies.

I do think that we as Giant fans underrate both Jacobs and Ward. Jacobs gained 2,000 yards in college. I don't care if you're playing for the blind & death girls college....that's a huge accomplishment. Shows immense skill. His running style could cause him to have a very short career however, if in fact he gets 20-25 carries per game. I love the talent, but not sold on him being a feature back. Ward has skills, no doubt about it. I like him. Yet as has been mentioned, he's not a starting caliber RB. I need to see more of Jacobs. If he doesn't look to be the answer, next year is the year to draft a RB. Some VERY good backs coming out in '07.

Precisely. Call me crazy, but I think we're pretty well set at MLB. Not to mention that a first day pick for a 33 yr old LB is laughable.

Let's talk about the 2007 Draft!! It's a rainy day, what can I say. I'm just going to talk about a few RBs since the Tiki subject came up today. This will be a strong RB draft. I believe this will be one of our main focuses, perhaps first round pick...depending much upon what happens with Jacobs this year. Let's not forget that we went through enough Herschel Walkers, Ron Dayne's, Sean Bennett's, Joe Montgomery's, Gary Brown's, Lewis Tillman's, LeShon Johnson's of the world to last a life time while we were trying to find a RB after Rodney...up to Tiki. Let's also keep in mind that Tiki will not play forever and he was roughly 60% of our offense the past several years. Just keep these few kids in your memory: Michael Bush - Louisville 6' 3" 250lbs runs 4.5'ish I freakin love this kid! He's very similar in body type to Jacobs but is much more athletic imo. I've seen him play and you come away in awe when you learn how big he actually is. Run, catch, block, the kid has it all. Alley Broussard - LSU 6'0" 237lbs runs 4.5'ish Sometimes you can get caught up in watching mechanics and keying on certain skills and to be honest I can't break this kid down like that because I haven't seen him enough. Yet sometimes I just like the way a kid runs, period. He just looks like a RB. It's tough to briefly explain that, but I like the kid. Downside is that he blew out a knee last year and missed the year. Adrian Peterson - OU 6' 2" 235lbs runs 4.4'ish The most well known of the bunch. Just google him, you'll find more than a few sites that will bring you right up to date. I liken him to a RB of the recent past that I used to detest, but envy his talent....Ricky Watters. DeShawn Wynn - Florida 5' 11" 230lbs Had a breakout year last year with almost 1,400 yards. This is a big senior season for him because he can drop back into the 3rd & 4th round, or jump right into the mix of the "big" backs coming out next year. Somebody to definitely watch.

It's hard to argue anybody but Tiki here. Even with HotRod being my favorite player. Of course, different types of backs are hard to compare in different eras and on different teams but like I said, it's hard to argue against what Tiki has done.

Isn't that what people were saying about Greisen when we drafted him? I'm not comparing the skills of the two in general, but a guy who doesn't have a "great" 40 time and looks faster on the field in college, has much to do with the competition imo. When you move up to the NFL, that "field speed" doesn't translate 100%, especially when you're no longer just flying around the field and must adhere to your responsibilities in a particular scheme. I like Ryans, but just a thought on the speed thing.

I hear ya. It's not really my style to ridicule anybody, but I understand what you're saying. I might get pissed off once in a while as anybody does, but I don't take part in most of the crap. I think...as you did...most people realize that and people don't bother me. Some will disagree more forcefully than others, but I'm cool with that. Most often. lol As far as the Fab Four thing and that stuff....I've been around the Giants board for years and then this board since the CE implosiion and honestly, I don't even know who the Fab Four are. I have too much on my plate to get involved. If people don't bother me, they're cool in my book.

Look guys, as I said....all things being equal, everybody wants everybody in camp. There's no doubt about it. I'm also big on the concept of "Team" so it's not as if I like the fact that these guys workout in Miami. In addition, I often take shots at Shockey for his attitude when merited. I'm not a fluffy fan. All that said, it's not that big of a deal. I bet you most, if not all of the players have a very similar view on it. 'It would be nice for everybody to be here, but it's not the end of the world.'. Guys workout on their own and do pretty darn well, guys like Edge James and many other veterans. It's not the end of the world.

This is much to do about nothing. In a perfect world, everybody would be here for the workouts. This is not a perfect world nor is it for any NFL team in this respect. This is not a big deal. That's why it's voluntary. They're big boys, they'll work out and be fine when it comes time to play football at camp.

People would complain no matter what player(s) we sign. That's a fact. Another fact is that Ernie has been better in FA than he has historically in the draft. Well, maybe that's not a fact, but it's my view anyway. This year has been a nice FA season with the money we have. Madison fills a big need and nobody seems to want to notice that freakin awesome contract! We got this guy for a song!! We got a very good FS who I think will turn out to be better than we think. We've restructured the weakest part of our team which in turn makes us stronger. Now why are you so pissy? Because we didn't sign everybody YOU wanted with some ficiticious unlimited ability to sign everybody? C'mon dude. Give credit where credit is due. Not the most exciting FA season so far, but a very effective one. See New England Patriots and their "big FA seasons."
