This team is cursed. After we lose Ike Davis for most of the year, Wright for about half the season, a complete waste of a year for Santana... it sucks to be a Met fan. Now Jose is probably leaving. Probably the smart thing. At least he gave the Mets a batting title for the first time ever... big deal.

 

More evidence this team is cursed. JJ Putz, an absolute failure with the Mets, 45 saves and 2.17 ERA with 61 K's in 58 innings this year for the Diamondbacks. Thanks JJ!

 

Beltran gets traded at the deadline and still leads the team in RBI's for the year. Pathetic. Next year I will probably look at the collection of players and get excited again, saying "this is the year!" And they will commence to lose half the team to season ending injuries, and underperform yet again.

Evans and O'Day just miss the cut. Although, I till think O'Day might have a shot at the 11th hour to take Stokes' spot. I don't think Parnell is going anywhere, and personally, I'm anxious to see what he's going to do in real games.

 

I wish they could find room for Evans, but it's not going to happen until somebody gets hurt. I think Niese will be the 6th starter and they'll keep Redding as the long man for as long as they can.

acctually bro Nick evens did make the roster and sooo did O'Day.... redding is in the minors and i think Livan will start the year off in the minors if im not mistaken......but other than that i think the roster looks pretty good man im excited for this year.....

I have been reading and hearing about what a great off season Mr. Minaya has had do to his fixing of the bullpen, on paper anyway and I have to laugh because basically it was the Mets ability to take on a contract of one player that many teams did not want to pay and of course outspend the competition for this off seasons best closer available(much like he did in 2005 for Wagner). Anyway why do I find this funny?

 

Well, for all the great accolades that are given to Minaya for these moves remember one thing. It was 2 off seasons ago that he traded 2 guys in Heath Bell and Matt Lidstrom for nothing. Two guys who are exactly what Putz and Rodriguez are(not as proven I know)but hard throwing right handed closers. Are they as good as the current two? Obviously not. But they also cost a fraction of the other two.

 

So here is the question to ask yourself, would the Mets be better suited with the current situation they have or be better off with Bell and Lidstrom and say another 19 million in salary room to get another hitter that this lineup so desperately needs? Could they say have gone and gotten that guy Ramirez from the Dodgers, you know the dude who played for the Red Sox? Would they be better with that Manny guy, Belll and Lidstrom or what they have now?

 

Curious as to what your opinions are? Do you also believe Minaya has to take a hit for letting 2 guys like that get away and getting garbage in return?

Crazy talk! As amazing a 1-2 punch that would be with Santana and Lincecum or Felix, Reyes is too damn good. No way the Mets trade him. Shortstops like him are not to be traded. Only a couple of teams wouldn't give their top 3 prospects for Reyes. That being the Marlins, the Phillies, and the Braves. Reyes is the one guy in this lineup whose role is as critical as it is stable. If they trade Reyes, Minaya should be hanged out in front of Citi!
