Cold hard football facts - actually do analysis, instead of cookie cutter.

An interesting read on how the things the Giants did well at during the regular season: running offense and pass rush they have done poorly at in the post season; and things they did poorly at in the regular season: 3rd down defense, ints, & pass defense, they did well in during the post season.

  2. Burress is full of shit.

First, he is not even the tallest Giant, he is 6-5, both Boss, Kevin & McKenzie, Kareem are 6-6.

Second, Brady, Kyle & Seymour, Richard & O'Callaghan, Ryan & Britt, Wesley are all taller than him. The tallest player on the field will be Britt at 6-8.

    :LMAO::doh:

  3. I know, I was referring to GH.

I know the onion is satire.

Of course the media is blowing it out of proportion. The media blows everything out of proportion. How many stories have we heard about the Patriots filming the Jets defensive coordinator was filmed from the wrong location. The rule that was broken wasn't the filming, but the location of the camera. But if we don't blow it out of proportion there is no story. Same deal with Burress, Anna Grant (the Pats girl the Colts booed), Romo's trip to Mexico. etc.

  4. Plaxico Burress: 'I Am Taller Than The Patriots'

GLENDALE, AZ—In an apparent attempt to raise his morale and that of his team, Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress released a statement Monday saying that his own personal 6'5" height was superior to that of the New England Patriots. "I have successfully out-stood every other player in the league when it comes to tallness," Burress' statement read in part. "That is a fact. And I get taller when I raise my arms, and taller again when I jump. The Pats are good, but there is nothing they can do about me in the department of being full-grown." Patriots linebacker Junior Seau responded to Burress' statement by saying that, while Burress was a very tall player indeed and had displayed great height in the past, it remained to be seen whether he was taller than the Patriots defense when they were playing well.

  5. As you know every game takes a shape of its own. I think the Giants will start with their basic defense.. trying to pressure Brady with the front 4. If they don't find much success, then they will improvise.. although they won't wait till the 4 Qtr this time around.

Not sure about that analysis. If I was the coach of the Giants I would want to repeat the first three quarters.... the fourth quarter was the problem one for the Giants.

  6. Here’s the official Wednesday injury report, just issued by the NFL:

    GIANTS

    Practice Report

    DID NOT PARTICIPATE IN PRACTICE

    Wednesday WR Plaxico Burress (ankle)

    LIMITED PARTICIPATION IN PRACTICE

Wednesday CB Kevin Dockery (hip flexor), G Rich Seubert (knee)

    PATRIOTS

    Practice Report

    LIMITED PARTICIPATION IN PRACTICE

    Wednesday WR Jabar Gaffney (shoulder)

    FULL PARTICIPATION IN PRACTICE

Wednesday QB Tom Brady (right shoulder)

    -----------------------------------------------

So what do we learned from these reports, well that neither Bill nor Tom treat them very seriously. No we already knew that... so I guess nothing.....

  7. FYI - Here is Tom Brady's reaction. I said basically the same thing earlier. Nothing wrong with predicting your team to win. But the Pats will score more than 17, and the Giants will need more than 23 to win.

Brady Doesn't Think Much of Plaxico's PredictionPHOENIX -- Tom Brady scoffed. Plaxico Burress wondered what all the attention was about.

Brady was puzzled by Burress' prediction that the New York Giants would beat the New England Patriots 23-17 in Sunday's Super Bowl. The fact Burress picked the Giants hardly surprised the league's MVP. The score certainly did.

"We're only going to score 17 points?" Brady said Wednesday morning before chuckling. "OK. Is Plax playing defense?

"I wish he had said 45-42 and gave us a little credit for more points."

Considering the Patriots set an NFL record by scoring 589 points, Brady's 50 touchdown passes were the most ever for one season, and Randy Moss broke Jerry Rice's mark with 23 TD catches, Burress might have been a bit chintzy.

"I know they have confidence. They should have confidence," Brady said. "They are the NFC champions.

"I learned a lesson early in my career: No matter what you say during the week -- and God knows we say a lot this week -- we're going to be focused on going out and winning this game. We're confident, but I don't think we share our thoughts with everybody."

Plaxico Burress' score prediction got the media's attention on Wednesday.

Burress did. And when he showed up 33 minutes late for the Giants' media session Wednesday morning, there was speculation the wide receiver was trying to avoid the spotlight.

Turns out Burress was spending time with his 1-year-old son and family at breakfast, claiming he was unaware so many people wanted to interrogate him about his prediction.

Nor was he aware, he said, that a hefty fine comes with missing a Super Bowl week media session.

"I don't understand what the fuss is about," Burress said, surrounded by at least as many TV cameras, microphones and notepads as Brady was two hours earlier. "Nobody wants to lose.

"All this is entertainment, It's sports and sports are entertainment. So 23-17 is the prediction I made, but the game still has to be played."

Told about Brady's reaction to that score, Burress said he wasn't dissing anyone.

"I'm not taking anything away from what those guys accomplished," he said. "They set all the records you could possibly imagine. They have a great quarterback, the MVP, who threw for a record (50) touchdowns. Randy set a TD record for catches. They had two receivers with over 100 catches.

"The numbers don't lie about what they have done."

Nor do the numbers 23-17 lie about what Burress thinks.

"Hey, look how much fun everybody is having with it," he said. "It makes national, international headlines. But the game still has to be played."

  8. please

Okay, some of that was just me trolling. And I don't expect either team to stink up the joint.

But if Brady goes out there and has the worst game of his life, throws 9 ints on 11 attempts -- he will be the starting QB next year. No ifs ands or buts. Welker could drop every ball thrown to him and he will be excused. The fans will be pissed, but 99.9% of the fan base is going to defend the team as having a bad game, nobody will be calling for anybodies head. Everybody has just played too good for too long, not to excuse one bad game.

If the Giants stink up the joint. Say Eli throws 6 ints. What will the NY reaction be? Will it be?

    a) The bum had 4 good games but he is still as inconsistent a piece of shit. Trading away Rivers was stupid.

    -or-

    b) It kinda sucks we lost, but heck everybody who has played NE has lost. Eli is coming along, he had a bad game, but overall he had a great post-season run. Couple or more years. Eli will be considered better then Peyton.

BTW: I hope it would be the second. I think he is a pretty good QB.

  9. That might be true, but I have difficulty thinking Bill would risk a loss for a personal record. The guy is too much of a competitor to do that.

If this game was must win, not on your life. But that game was just a record too. Pats had clinched the #1 seed weeks ago. So BB was probably a bit more willing to give his QB and #1 WR a little room to play and have fun.

Plus BB isn't the one who decides which receiver the ball is thrown to -- Tom makes that decision.

And had Tom and Randy broke the record, and the Patriots lost the game b/c Tom was forcing the ball to Randy, it would put BB in an ideal position to refocus the team. "Congrats Tom, Congrats Randy. Broke the [expletive] record. But lost the [expletive] game. Nice celebration in the end zone Randy. That only cost 7 [expletive] points. Look its not about records or an undefeated season, but we can't play stupid football in the post season....."

  10. Hopefully the improvement of the secondary will allow more time to get to Brady. With luck, Brady starts to feel an urgency, and starts making mistakes he hasn't typically been doing this season.

Of course, words like "hopefully" puts me square in the realm of fan. And I'm OK with that.

One difference between this game and week 17, is the Patriots only have one goal -- win. Week 17 they had two goals win AND throw two TD's to Moss. And the Giants knew that, which made it easier to defend. Actually late in the season, several teams focused on Moss because of the records and that did hurt the offense.

Once that record was broken, shutting down Moss has not been very effective (see Jax playoff game).

  11. The whole matching suits is way over analyzed. Could them dressing alike help slightly with team unity, yeah sure. But the Patriots didn't win in 2001, b/c the player ran out of the tunnel without the players being named. They won because they played better.

    And team unity is important.

And when Giant players are asked about a comment made by Burress and respond, "he said what?" that doesn't create team unity.
