  1. You can add a 1,2,3 inning against the likes of Sheffield, Ordonez and Guillen.

    Striking out ordonez and Guillen.

Fuck those who say he's overhyped. This guy is doing it and doing it against some great players.

  2. Good question. What do I base my decision on?

Careers? That wouldn't be fair to Reyes since he's just getting started.

Based on present day, that wouldn't be fair to Jeter, since Reyes is 10 years younger.

I don't who I'd pick, honestly, but I'm glad the Mets have Reyes right now.

    Great.

So let's compare Reyes to where Jeter was at the same point in his career. :)

    That is fair, right?

I bet you won't want to do that.

  3. LMAO.....I can't stop laughing. You put up a few wins (Nailbiters at that) against the already weak NL's WORST teams and you start a thread claiming "You're running away with it?"

I guess this is the type of confidence playing back to back series against the Pirates and Nationals will give you. Even most level headed Met's fans would agree with me.

Meanwhile. the Yankees go 6-1 against 2 of the top AL teams and it's just business as usual.

  4. Not true. Saw a stat during yesterday's game that said the Yankees' team ERA is higher post All Star break than it was prior to the break. The difference is, the Yankees are scoring 7+ runs a game.

And Joba may have been lights out for one night, but putting a rookie in an important role at this time of the season is a risky propostion.

I still think Phillips is a moron though.

One night? Try everytime he's been out there. I say about 3 appearances so far.

Sheesh, you guys just throw crqap out there just to see what sticks.

  5. According to YES, it was ruled a "walk off fielder's choice".

Even Jeter will tell you he got a break on that one. I'm sure he wasn't at the plate thinking, "If I can just hit it right back to the pitcher, maybe he'll misplay it and we'll get a victory."

Please tell me which player has the highest average with RISP?

    Your case is rested.

  6. First off, regular season record does not mean a thing. In 2000 the Yankees won 87 games, won a weak AL east and won the WS. That same year the Mets won 94 games, had to settle for the WC with 94 games and lost the WS to the Yankees. Point is getting there and what you do when you get there matters more than a regular season record. Anyone in St Louis care they won only 83 games or 14 less than the Yankees in 2006?

As for the Met fans, well here is how I see it. Its a what have you done for me lately town(as evidenced by the fact that the Mets were NY's first baseball team in the 1980's to draw 3 million fans to the ballpark)and if you consider that the 2007 season is not yet a completed story and all we can go on is what happened last year(much as I was always told from 1998, 99 and 2000 by Yanks fans)then those silly Met fans are correct, this is a Met town, as the 2006 Mets, as the Yankees did won 97 and a division, but the difference was the Mets won their first round series and battled the eventual world champion(who dispatched the team that smoked the Yanks in 4 in 5 games)to a 7 game thriller. So even though most fans(as most Met fans on this board in this here section do not)do not care about this, since you brought it up, we shall point it out, in technically based on most recent completed performance is a Met town, if you base this purely on team success.

As for the Daily News, well you keep reading that like all the intelligent Yankee fans that love papers written at a 3rd grade level. Unlike those airport people, rooting for the Yankees, reading their Daily news', we here will read a quality publication like the NY Times, one that requires more than a 7th grade education and does not cater to nonsense like this.

    Have a nice day. :)

2 days and this is the garbage retort you come up with? Who the hell says anyone reads the Daily News. I just enjoy the humorous front page and just happened to throw in that some airport passengers were reading it anonymously. I wasn't being literal, Mr. defensive.

Who knows? It could have been the Journal news.

PS: Paragraphs are your friend. Go on and read your NY Times Mr. Smart guy.

  7. Thats great, 1 day all season and it requires a thread in the Met section. :LMAO:

Does anyone remember that in 2000 the Mets had Ny's best regular season record? Thats how pointless shit like that is.

    Yeah, suuuurreee...It's meaningless.

When the Mets took 2 outta 3 from the Yankees earlier this year, a coworker of mine emailed something like this to me. Link All the Mets fans acted like 13 year old geeks all while chanting "We're the kings of NY". "Yankees are done" Grown men nonetheless.

As a side point, during that series I happened to catch one of the games at laguardia airport, standing outside one of the airport bar restaurants, you could see the game on the big screen from the outside looking in. Anyways, as you could imagine this drew quite a crowd outside of the entrance as the general public walked on by and stopped to catch a glimpse.

You had the geeky outcast Mets fans wearing there orange and blue windbreakers acting like pre-adoloscent children whenever the Mets made a decent play. Then you had the more reserved and confident Yankee fan casually watching as he sipped his coffee and finished his Daily News.

What does this all mean? Well, you're partially right. It means nothing to a Yankees fan but it's the world to a Mets fan.

Just an FYI. I WILL be bringing in this copy of the Daily News to work tommorrow.

  8. I hate the media. I knew thise whole thing was being blown out of proportion - along with the weak minded individuals who believe everything they hear and run with the he-said she-said.

Strahan is my favorite player of all time (along with LT), partly because even after 15 years of a wear me down position, you can tell he still loves the game and cherishes it like a rookie.

    Fuck you media.

  9. Again, why is this a conversation? Jeter is a MUCH better all around offensive player and I'm sorry, but a few fielding stats in favor of Reyes is not going to make me believe that Reyes is a better defender. The only ones saying Reyes is a better SS are Met fans. Oh, and one Wet Sox fan.

A few Gold gloves in Jeters favor only strengthens my view point.

  10. I know there isn't as much traffic here, but that board has been completely overun with stupidity. Has anyone here been there lately? I tried hard to battle but there are just so many of them. lockhart has won. I'm through with that place.

    :LMAO: Welcome.

  11. Jose is having a better year this year. But Jeter aint too far behind.

How so? In the exact same at bats (421) Jeter leads by far in almost ALL statistical categories. Not 2-3 years ago, RIGHT NOW in 2007! This is in Batting average, OBP, Doubles, RBI's, SLG Percentage, hits, homeruns, etc. etc. link

About the only thing he doesn't blow Reyes away in is Triples and Stolen bases. Which is why we all acknowledge reyes is a more gifted athlete. Just not even close to being a better player.

And that's not even taking in to account the intagibles that need not be explained. Please....Do not disrespect a HOF player like Jeter again by bringing up such a comparison.
