  1. Dayne was drafted in the first round as a short yardage back. Running backs chosen in the 4th round are a dime a dozen. Jacobs is not and will never be an every down back. The Giants know this and will draft another running back this year to be the true replacement hopeful for Tiki. Jacobs has his uses but will never be Tiki's replacement. He will be moved to TE, and still do short yardage and special team duties.

Intellect like that would still have Tiki Barber returning punts. Lockhart may have been a gifted college athlete, but there his story ends. You can almost taste the bitterness. Oh, what might have been...

  2. I tend to agree that with Strah and Osi, we won't be changing any time soon, but I do like the 3-4 better. I think it creates more flexibility and confusion just behind the line.

Well, personally, I'd rather steamroll over the Redskins than confuse them, but that's just me. In any event, with four big bodies up front, there's less of a need for flexibility behind the line. Your tactical response to whatever the offense throws at you is different, as is your general plan-of-attack. That doesn't make one scheme inherently better or worse than the other -- don't confuse strategy with tactics. '85 Bears or '86 Giants, you go with what you've got, as long as it's working for you.
