*Roy E. Posner, a financial advisor to the Giants for the last 15 years, suffered a fatal heart attack about 90 minutes after Saturday’s game. He was 73.

 

Posner, who made every road trip with the Giants, was stricken at approximately 1 a.m. Sunday as the Giants were about to board their chartered Amtrak train in New Carrollton, Md. for the return trip to Newark. He was treated on the scene by the Giants medical and training staff before EMS personnel arrived and transported him to Prince George’s Hospital Center, where he died a short time later.

 

Posner was the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Loews Corporation, which is owned by the Tisch family, from 1967 until February 1997. Though retired, he had been a Director of the Company since Sept. 30, 1997.

 

"For decades, Roy Posner was a trusted advisor, co-worker and dear friend to my late father, Bob," said Jonathan Tisch, Co-Chairman of the Board of Loews Corporation and Treasurer of the Giants. "Roy's numerous contributions helped create the Loews Corporation of today, and his advice and counsel to senior management of the Giants has been invaluable. He will be sorely missed by my family and me."

 

Posner watched every Giants game from the 30-yard line, just outside the Giants bench area.

 

“Roy was a beloved figure and a loyal supporter of the team,” said John Mara, the Giants’ President and Chief Executive Officer. “He was someone everyone in the organization enjoyed being around. Roy very much enjoyed his association with the Giants and traveling with the team. He was a big help to our organization over the past 15 years and someone we will miss very much.”

 

Posner is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Peter Montano, and four grandchildren: Samantha, Parker, Jason and Sara Rose, daughter Sheryl Posner, as well as his former wife, Donna Posner, with whom he remained great friends.

 

Posner’s body will be cremated and his remains will be at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home on Tuesday. A memorial service is expected to be held at an undetermined date in the future.
