Virginia Giant
Saquon Barkley became the 9th player in NFL history to reach 2,000 yards in a season. I'm not hating, just think it's worth mentioning. I'm honestly happy for him. Getting away from this Giants team is the best thing that could have happened to him. I think this locks up Mara firing Shoen after the season though.
gmenroc
I hope he shatters Dickersons record and tells Mara to suck his 2100 yard deek.
TaylorBanksCarsonVanPelt
This is hilarious... Schoen could be an assistant general manager but never the man. Overpay DJ and underpay Barkley. Way to go mang...
BlueInCanada
Still not worth 14 million apparently. lol Good for him, showing the NFL that the Giants are just a piss poor run franchise and he's still an elite talent. Wonder if they sit the starters against us or try to get Barkley the record. Could go either way.
BlueInCanada
Man that Hard Knocks offseason is really coming around like a bad case of heart burn for the Giants. Schoen really did come off as a complete idiot when it came to the Barkley situation not to mention the whole "we didn't pay Jones 40 million to hand off to a 14 million dollar RB" Meanwhile we are paying him 27 million to be a practice squad QB for the Vikings lol

I think they play the starters in the first half, run Barkley 20 times to get the record, then rest the starters in the 2nd and hope they screw us both ways. TaylorBanksCarsonVanPelt
Fuck the Eagles. Would play my second string guys on defense and sit down any guys who have a rug burn from the artificial turf. Nothing to prove and fuck the Eagles.I would have underpaid that second string QB and I would have paid more for the running back with poor vision. I would not have given him Dickerson/Payton money however I would have rewarded him for being a good soldier. It is a business and guys (players) need to stop crying and look to cash in. If you buy into the rah rah stuff that is on you. Your body is a commodity and football is a hard unforgiving game. Guys need to treat it more like professional boxing (mindset) than as a game to be played for "fun".
Sephiroth
I hope Barkley gets 250+ yards and this entire front office is fucking gone.

I heard a really great example on a podcast this week: suppose three years go by after a draft. As a fan, will you say, "well, these players are mediocre, but we had to fill a need at that time," or will you say, "man, we had two good LBs but good thing we didn't pass on this Pro Bowler LB when he fell to the third round." Schoen is not a prepared GM.
jranieli
He just needs 101 yards for the record. Too bad the game wasn't at MetLife in front of the owner.

jranieli
It's fitting. Against his former team. I hope he gets it. 40 year old record.
Herc
Happy for him. Its too bad he couldn’t be here to rush for all those yards on our 3 win team
gmenroc
Never wouldve gotten the record here. I would note the record is over 17 hames now. But hope he gets it easily.

Schoen really, really bungled the contract negotiations with DJ and Saquon something fierce. That was Schoen's entire career capsulated in three months of being a total neophyte coming to negotiations.

Schoen is not a prepared GM. The Young Formula is valid even today... you go for the best available athlete. I remember in 1981 every Giants fan was crying for a Otis Anderson instead of Lawrence Taylor. We ended up getting OT anyway and passing up the greatest player ever because we had good LB's in Brad van Pelt and Gregory... OMG I don't even want to think about it. Forget about LT as a human being... he is a rat filled piece of shit... but as a football player no one can match his intensity for OLB in any era. FYI - it might be 17 games now - but he is doing this at almost 40-45 carries lesser than Dickerson - so by any metric, its an incredible achievement.
