I like both Ward and Sanders and hope we get one of the 2.

I realize if it was Shedeur Jackson and he was nobody’s son, or like Bo Jackson’s son I would have liked him a lot more.

It would probably help, I have a difficult time imagining that Sanders circus being positive for a team.

conversely, to what extent is his perception as a player driven by the Sanders hype machine? His dad is one of the great hype men of our time… and he just happens to have a Burrow-esque son? And so very tough — that’s Sanders’ standout trait, over and over in the most glowing scouting reports: he’s tough. Hey, you know who else fit that description as a prospect?….. I won’t even say it. And do you know what really creates toughness and the ability to handle adversity: growing up wealthy and having a tiger parent hype man as a father.

I’m so desperate to get out of this era that I’m going completely against my instincts and would welcome taking a shot on sanders—I don’t care if he brings Deion and Lavar Ball as co-parents.  Would love if he stopped the watch thing though, that shit is so cringe.

Sounds like Sanders is the #1 guy this draft.

I trust Daboll on the eye test, not so much Schoen.

I assume if Mara keeps the two then Sanders is the pick.

A new GM/HC might wanna trade back and reload for the rebuild.

Welcome to the team Deion JR.

Christ what a circus this might become lol

Also Pat Shurmur has the guys seal of approval.

All for nothing but he got the best out of Jones and Eli at the end of his career.

So I'm on the bandwagon.

Sanders is my stone cold pick of the week, of the century.

Pat  also liked Drew Lock and settled on Daniel Jones.  Shurmur gets the best out of people, but only for a moment.  I prefer a sustained high level of production.  Pat might very well be right about Sanders and I'm glad he isn't making that decision for the Giants in April.

I don't want a single one of these QBs with the #1 pick. I see "Pro Bowl alternate" as each one of their ceilings.

I can squint real hard and see it with Cam.

hey, those early game wtf moments, followed by a clutch 4th quarter, brings to mind Eli.

So what's the plan then?

Hope we get lucky in free agency or just tank again for a QB?

We sign two QBs in the offseason with the intention that they compete for the starting job. Maybe a Cousins and Fields, a Wilson and a Jones, etc. Some combination of competent vet and young guy with potential. The caveat to this is they need to be (relatively) affordable; easier said than done I know.

In the draft, we trade down as aggressively as possible. Tennessee is looking for a signal-caller, so I'd start there; the trade value chart puts our pick value as Tennessee's first and second this year, and next year's first and third. I'd be running to pull the trigger on that.

Next I'd look to trade down two spots with Vegas; our first and third this year for their first, and next year's first and third from them. We're only moving down two spots so we can't expect to get that much... but if Sanders is there I think they really covet that guy. I'd pull the trigger here too.

At six, I'm tempted to keep trading down, but if I can't put something together I'm happy rolling the dice on Milroe here. The caveat though is that he sits the first year... he's the best "skills" QB in the draft, but he is not ready to be a starter at all yet. Give him the Jalen Hurts treatment and maybe give him a start towards the end of the season.

So what do you have? A bridge veteran QB that can be a 1-2 year starter in a pinch, a developmental backup with starter potential, and a rookie QB with amazing promise. Most importantly though, going into next season you have OPTIONS. Milroe ain't it? Package your 3 firsts to get the guy you love. Milroe shows the growth you want? Whelp, get him a blue-chip Tackle, WR, and TE (or draft any of the other 8 or so positions where we need help). Maybe Milroe stays the backup because the light goes on for the Fields/Jones type on the roster.

Also... Vegas and Tennessee are not going to turn it around with just a QB. There's a great chance those extra 1sts you got are top-10 picks.

I know putting trades together isn't as easy as I'm making it sound, but that's the general strategy I'd use.

I am ready for the circus.  No hates Prime Time like I do... from the Old Broke Backs... however if he is the tea this draft... ride him and rein in the other draft picks with him.  He will be mediocre at worst and might account for something.  Like you I think Daboll can be a coach for the Giants... Schoen sucks as General Manager though.  Sanders' might be a poor man's Kerry Collins.

If he had Collins’ arm, he’d be a no brainer 1st overall pick. Dude had a CANNON.

very mediocre arm on Sanders, unfortunately. Accurate though, he does have that going for him.

When's the last time a team has traded for three firsts in one draft?

lol

We should just trade our fifth round pick down until we have eight first round picks in 2034 with the compounding trade chart.

Stall the clock and draft a whole new team then.

I mean it's an aggressive strategy sure but what happens in 2026 when the team you want to trade up for says they want more than those three firsts?

And then what?

You've wasted all of your firsts/seconds/thirds for the next couple of season on two high end QB picks and some bridge QBs while the rest of the team suffers.

49ers would be there today if it wasn't for Purdy.

I think this is probably the best plan. Might not be feasible to find multiple trade partners though, but if we could, this is a way to turn things turnaround.

still might not work if none of the QBs hit, but at least here we have options. I think if you stack the probability of any one of the potential QBs on the above scenario being ‘the guy’ vs just Sanders or Ward, it’s the retread + toolset prospect + draft assets to pivot if they suck approach that is the better bet.

it starts with a retread. Sam Darnold, feel free to shit the bed for a few weeks, let’s get that price down.
