Whelp, it's time to talk quarterbacks.

Some of those receivers my mom could likely have thrown to.  Some of the competition at CB was lacking at best.

Running head first es no bueno.  Slide baby, slide.

Can't tell if he is staring down receivers or not.  If he is, that alone kicks him to 2nd or 3rd round for me.  Jones did that shit and defenses ate him alive, mocked him for it, and still ate him up cause he could not fix it.

That said, there is definite touch on his passes.  He is accurate.  He keeps his eyes downfield when pocket starts to break down.

Trading up from 3rd into late 2nd...maybe.

Dart's interesting. I like the idea of drafting a 2nd or 3rd rounder QB in theory, if we're not going in the 1st. I just hate watching highlight reels to judge players though, especially QBs.

What I tend to value most is how the QB plays when under pressure (i.e. when the team is counting on them), when they're in a tough/shit/crucial situation, and how they handle themselves, especially when they're being tasked with putting the team on their shoulders; not just composure but do they tend to come away making a positive play. Related, how many drives/sets of downs do they have where their offense goes nowhere, mainly due to QB play (e.g. check their 3rd down passing). Additionally, I also try to look at how much of the work their receivers are doing for them (e.g. the Texas system lends itself to lots of short passes and receiver YAC, one of the reasons I'm not sold on Ewers).

Starting to become a little intrigued by Jaxson Dart.  Kid reminds me a lot of Jake Plummer.  Not worth a high 1st but maybe a 2nd I think.

I like him.  Top 5, I dunno.  But I think he's the guy that shoots up draft boards in the closing weeks.  I have not watched a ton, but he looks good based on what I did see.

Good appraissal of him.  I like the fact that he stares downfield and has a feel for the pocket collapsing around him.  He is too quick to run and should SLIDE...SLIDE AND SLIDE again.  No head first runs for a QB.

There is just something a little, deliberate about him.  I can't place it.  At times it looks like his release is long/slow, and other times that looks fine, but it just seems to take him a long time to throw.  But I'm not football analyst, he just seems like things unwind a little slower for him.

I saw that as well.  The college game is not as fast as the pros.  Maybe that can be trained into him.  Unlike DJ I think he has the fundamentals and as a second or third round pick hugging the pine, carrying a state sheet or an iPad... following up behind a veteran.

In this 2nd-3rd round QB draft scenario, I'd still bring in Justin Fields on a 2 year,$20-25M deal.

I like this as well. Bring in someone that still has potential while the young kid develops. Hell, maybe Fields finally gets it together and we can trade him for a high pick when the youngster is ready to take the reigns.

I think the success of multi-team castoffs like Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield has shown that sometimes it just takes these guys a bit to figure it all out and the right situation.

It’s a good thing Eli won in 2007, because we probably would’ve given up before 2011.

I doubt he signs for anything less than 20 million a year minimum.

Sportstrac and OTC have him around 26 million avg annual next season.

Which is what teams are paying for middle of the road QBs.

Or in the Giants case a practice squad backup not on their team lol

What about Trey Lance? Hell bring in Kaepernick! TRADE DOWN AND GET A BOATLOAD OF PICKS AND DRAFT CAPITAL

Imagine the team SF could have if they hadn’t blown all those resources on Lance.

and that’s the model for what to do if we blow this pick. Obviously not the guy? Move on now, not six years later.

At the same time they don't pick Lance maybe it shakes up the draft and they never get Purdy.

Who knows how things would of went down.

Pats did this model this year... drafted Maye and still took Milton. Way small sample size but people were saying Milton was the better QB in camp this year.

I'd love if the Giants did something similar and actually took the QB position seriously.
