Why can't we be sellers this week?

So season is in the shitter after 1st quarter of the year again.  We have pieces every year that aren't gonna do a damn thing for us and are likely to be cut in offseason.

Every year, there is an article about guys that we could trade and there would likely be interest.

So why not?  Hyatt or Slayton could go for 4th/5th rounders somewhere.  Could we trade Daniel somewhere to be a backup in exchange for part of his salary to ease cap hit?

Talks about Ojulari might be a target for some teams.

We needed to be on the phones with kc about slayton or Hyatt before they made this Hopkins trade

Hyatt cracked his rib I thought?

Slayton isnt worth much to anyone really, we would probably have to trade a pick plus Slayton just to get a team to take him.

Which is the leverage problem the Giants have.

We arent going to trade anyone of real value because then Schoen and Dabs are asking for their pink slips at that point, for some reason and clearly due to the last number of seasons Mara/The Giants favor winning meaningless games over tanking for a rebuild.

The rest of the roster no one is really worth anything.

I wonder what Slayton can get. Maybe a 4th or 5th? Need more bodies for next year.

He's pretty much worthless from a stat perspective, not to mention he is on his last year.

Why trade for Slayton when you could get a guy like Hopkins for a fourth?

Like it or not, Slayton is the second best WR on the team. He's not going anywhere and we should probably try to keep him around.

Maybe you can get something for Ojulari, but I'm of the opinion that if he keeps playing well you tag him after this year maybe and pick up Kayvon's 5th year option. If the coaching staff comes back next year that's a pretty good pass rush.

There's no nobody else on the team that has value that we'd be willing to part with IMO.

I for one can't wait for Slayton to get buried on some teams death chart thinking he's a better player than he is when he hits FA.

Tagging Ojulari puts him on the hook for 20+ million a year, I doubt they do that for him.

Holy fuck that much!  If that's the case then yeah... see what you can get for him if there's no intent to re-sign him.

Zeitler too yeah?

Oh yes, I almost forgot.

So excluding Andrew Thomas, in sum if we look at the PFF grades on Zeitler, Bredeson, and Will Hernandez...all three of these guys have a higher PFF rating this season than the four guys Schoen added as starters in the last two seasons (JMS, Elumeanor, Van Roten, and Runyan Jr), and meanwhile we have Neal and Ezeudu on the roster who are apparently completely worthless.

I always thought Bobby Johnson was the problem, but he goes to Washington and they have a better Oline this year compared to anything he ever did with the Giants.

There has to be something fundamentally broken within the front office, guys who don't get replaced during the turnover of a new GM/HC.

When's the last time a FA signed here and actively got better? Maybe Leonard Williams? But even then he was nothing more than a garbage time stat guy.

After four HCs and two GMs, including the many positional/assistant coaches and front office personal we've been through these last 12-15 years, the only constant is the Giants FO who have remained largely unchanged in those years.

To what extent is this Nepotism and/or legacy guys still hanging around (e.g. Kevin Abrams). Or maybe Nepotism isn't the right word, but the Mara and Tisches just having too much influence over personnel decisions. Chris Mara anyone? Hello....he's the senior exec on player personnel.

It's not like these guys haven't had success way in the past, but so did George Young in the 80's yet by the mid 90's it was clear that he was cooked and needed to go.
