Giants making cap room.

got to be a CB, but who? Xavien Howard or bring back Adoree Jackson? Heaven forbid, Eli Apple? Jalen Mills is high on the list of available players, and we just cut him. I think half the available CB free agents have been on the Giants roster and bring to mind the phrase 'hard pass'.

I'm not familiar with any of the available established defensive linemen except Linval Joseph. He's a dude, but he's ancient.

Was not Linval Joseph here from the last Super Bowl era...?

According to the Schoen press conference we are riding with the young guys we have at DB.

So if we do sign anyone else there it will probably be someone low on the cap hit number.

I can see them targeting a DT and ILB before season starts though.

LBs and DT are suffering from dings already.

Or you never know, a QB with Lock being hurt.

There's no #2 CB on the roster. That has to be the target.

No one we bring in is CB#2 quality.

Jackson wasn't even a starting nickle corner by the end of last year.

The Giants know one of two things; the season is entirely dependent on what Jones does this and no CB FA agent at this point will change that fact.

Jones has a good year, we probably end up above a win or loss around .500

Jones has his normal type of year and we probably win four games again.

Which of those guys wins us a game?

Xavien Howard

Adoree’ Jackson

Patrick Peterson

J.C. Jackson

Ahkello Witherspoon

Keion Crossen

Eli Apple

Chandon Sullivan

Jalen Mills

Aaron Robinson

What gmen said. We can probably pick up someone decent and young from a team who can’t keep them on the roster. Crossing fingers, cause as is we are going to get eaten alive on that side of the field.

Is it ever a good sign that a team is scrambling after training camp cuts to find starters, particularly in your secondary?

The fact that this is happening is an ominous sign. Leaky secondary all season. Pinnock and Banks are okayish starters. For the rest of the secondary, it's a real crapshoot.

Hopefully the d-line and linebackers can make up for the deficits in the backfield. Another corner would be nice and hopefully one breaks loose. 18m is cap gives them some flexibility that they haven't had in a while. Seems like every year, there is barely enough room to make a move.

Unrelated, but is there anything more ‘Jets’ than celebrating like you just made a play in the Super Bowl against a mediocre at best team…. in practice.

Until they get that culture under control they’re not winning shit.

I always loved the Jets with their HS mentality.  It goes way back to the Gastineau years in the 1980's.  They just suck and have sucked for such a long time.
