Remember when the Mets AAA were there? It's only going to be a partial sliding roof. $1.5B. It's going to sit on the site of the old Wild West Casino which has been shut down since 2020. It's a pretty famous truck stop, and an even more infamous place where the truckers banged hookers. Lots of hookers. I just drove past the spot today and it was loaded with 18 wheelers enjoying a little afternoon delight. Our minor league stadium was voted as one of the top 5 in the country, and it's a fully open regular stadium. I never understood why anyone would want to play baseball in 120 degree heat. Talk about a home field advantage... the Knicks always loved the Sunday day game to take advantage of players out enjoying NYC on a Saturday night.
