The Official Judge Has Gotta Go Thread

The problem is, this can easily turn into a Marvin Lewis scenario.

Years of mediocrity and losing records simply because ownership believes they "have their man"

Also what I worry about is if/when DG gets fired, does ownership force the new GM to keep Judge? Do they let Judge go out and pick the next GM?

Either way it's not a great position to be in, coaches hiring their own GM has never worked out, and I don't think any successful team has forced the GM to keep the HC outside of maybe Bill in NE.

Lets focus on Monday night and not thirteen years later.  Not worried about Dave Gettleman getting fired simply because his job is secure.  Mara & Tisch are not replacing their GM at this point.  If they do move on from Gettleman, it will be a hire from within the organization and he will keep Judge.  Judge doesn't have the credit to pick the next GM, at best he gets notified before the media.

Next year however you have some big contract decisions to make and that would be a time to clean house and bring in another GM to take the team in a different direction entirely.

Season's not over yet, but barring a remarkable turnaround both DG and Judge have to go at season's end.

I think there's some short memories with Giants fans, and the fanbase overall is feeling pretty good after beating a team we were supposed to lose to... but looking at the total body of work over the past 18 months of these two guys, there's just not enough there to warrant keeping either one of them.  DGs roster is terrible and Judge appears to be pretty bad at game planning, management, conditioning, and identifying talent on the roster.

Hate to keep saying this but again... wake me up if the team hits .500

I'd take a Marvin Lewis scenario just so long as it doesn't come with all the other issues the Bengals had in those days.

Those cheap ass fuckwads didn't even employ scouts. One could easily make a case that Lewis had that team massively overachieving.

I'll take the glass half full approach on this.   As you stated, there's plenty of football left... and this team can turn it around (we could have easily had 2 more wins at this point...just dumb luck).   DG has had plenty of fuck ups but equally some good fortune.... maybe managing an organization in football is crapshoot afterall...  Judge on the other hand is a young coach who's never been an HC before... there's an argument that we as humans tend to get better at something the more we keep at it... I don't think most of the injuries we've had are necessarily related to conditioning but even then and to my earlier point... Judge needs to get better and I believe he will... With respect to identifying talent, I don't think anyone disputes the talents of players like Toney, but when you don't show up on practice day, it's hard to get you playing time (think of the psychology and how other teammates feel around him).

This.... been watching the Giants since 1968... this is a rebuilding year with a rebuilding team.  Get rid of both of them.  Like asshole Drumpf thought... DG and Judge are not the only ones who can "fix" it as in fuck it up more than it is now.  Bite the bullet and be competitive in 2023 and try to win it all in 2024-26.  The sooner we do a full rebuild the sooner we get back to games with meaning.  The longer we delay the longer it will take to get back to winning.

We all know what's going to happen. We're 2-5 now. This team is going to go on a 5-5 run or 4-6 run, and we'll go 7-10 or 6-11. Just enough to say, "Well, it wasn't a complete disaster, and they showed progress....plus all the injuries derailed us." Even though I personally would not say that, and still think the coach/GM should be fired. But the Owner would have enough to sell to the fanbase, and enough of the fanbase would buy into this.

Then we'll be back here in 2022 weeks one through seven in Sept-Oct suffering from giants losses, calling for the coach and GM to be fired.

I have had enough of this circus.  I will not buy into it until we have a playoff run in the cards.  Time to move on from JJ and DG.  Like you write... presto change-O next year the same thing if the same people.

There's a good chance I watch the game on Monday, since there's not much happening at 8:30 in November here in New Hampshire.

There's also a good chance I turn the game off halfway through the second quarter when we go down by 3 scores.

Stuff happens in New Hampshire besides snow?

Step 1: Watch the tapes

Step 2: Trust the process

Step 3: ???????

Step 4: Have multiple penalties in the final minutes of games resulting in losses.

Step 5: Repeat

how does one rank X in 'special teams'? Shouldn't this guy explain his metrics a bit?

not to say we have good special teams, but I don't feel like I see bottom 10% of the league specials out there. I see bottom third up to maybe average. Seems to be its a stronger group overall than the D or O.
