I think that's his cap hit, not what he's actually being paid. Supposedly his cap hit after the restructure is basically the same as if he were cut.

Right....$10mm cap hit for a backup OL on a roster with 9/10 backup OL.

Gettleman logic.

Correct.

With the restructure we are saving slightly more than if we cut him.

Plus we get to kep him on the team for another year.

heh, well.... your choices here are a $10 million cap hit for a guy who doesn't play for the team at all, or a $10 million cap hit for a backup/possible starter.

Given those two choices.... the latter seems the no brainer. Can't be mad at Gettleman about this one. (Signing Solder in the first place, well....)

I'm not sure how we pulled that off, but I'll take it!

I believe the dead cap hit would of been over 10 million like 10.6 million of dead cap.

I believe Solders cap hit is 10 million flat after the restructure.

So they saved an extra like 600k.

Just from reported numbers I've seen who knows how accurate they are.

It’s honestly the right move.  If they cut him it would’ve been same cap savings and then they have to spend more to fill the roster spot eventually

Yeah, I got it. We have a team of backup OLs on this team, when the main problem with the Giants offense the last 4-6 years has been the OL.

I didn't realize it was possible for this OL to get WORSE this year compared to 2020, but it looks like DG is managing that.
