I'll be honest.... all this time I thought he was just the guy who was paid to carry around Belichick's head phone cables.

Apparently Joe Judge is an actual football coach too, not just Belichick's sideline gopher. Who knew?

I imagine the conversation went like this:

Belichick: John?  Hi, it's Bill.  I see you're interviewing Joe.  If you decide to hire him, I'll take a GM position with you guys in a year or two.

Mara:  He's hired.

Just read Judge is talking to Kitchens about being on the offensive staff.

Great. The same guy who couldn’t get Odell the ball or more than two touchdowns and inexplicably gave Kareem Hunt touches over Nick Chubb. What could go wrong, there?

Also love that he said he's not going to be the OC or DC.

Just that he's going got do what a HC should be doing and keeping everyone in line and on the same page.

Getting players coached up.

Also love his bit about versatility and wanting the best players to play.

Someone had nick Chubb on his fantasy team.  Both running backs are top notch, they should both get work.

Chubb should have had the rushing title and Hunt won’t be on that team this year. Chubb is an every down back. Just as efficient at catching passes.

And I won my fantasy league.

Chubb is great, so is hunt.  Hunt won’t be on the team because he’s too good for the browns to pay his value while they have Chubb on the team.  He didn’t take a ton of carries from Chubb anyway, He was more of a passing option and they had a lot of sets with both guys on the field together.  If I had both guys I’d play them both too 🤷‍♂️

Congrats.  I’m just saying only a Chubb fantasy owner would ever have a problem with the browns not burying a top running back talent on the bench.

When I first read about the news I didnt know what to expect. I was hoping it was Rhule all the way.

But now - the more Ive read, researched, seen videos and interviews and other stuff - Im super excited as fuck about Joe Judge. Few things that got me feeling that this was the best possible hire in the current situation that the Giants are in -

1) Bellichick always spent an extended amount of time with Judge before EVERY NFL game going over the game plan and getting his inputs

2) Nick Saban has also given a very glorious report about Judge

3) Bellichick himself called the Giants and endorsed Judge in a very positive way - albeit this could also be him trying to take revenge on the Giants for kicking his ass twice :)

The guy is young - 37-38 - and has that no-nonsense detail oriented approach and also has a certain demeanor about him that makes people want to listen

Being a young guy - his connect with the younger players will be much better and they can relate better

Seems like a very intelligent dude.

Plus - Bill Bellichick, Tomlin and Harbaugh were all Special teams coordinators before they got their Head Coaching gig. Hell - we dont have to go too far - Bill Parcells himself was a no name until he got his HC gig with the Giants.

I for one was not excited about McCarthy (although he felt like the safest choice) or McDaniels (he might again pull some Colts type stunt if Brady returns for 1 more year which looks like it - that fucker isnt going to end his career on a pick-6). Garrett is definite NO unless its for OC.

Now that we have Judge as the HC, few things Id like this offseason -

Get Kris Richard as DC - he used the wide Cover 3 approach that almost all teams are adopting

Get Wink or the Chiefs or the Bills guy as OC and let them do their job.

Get rid of the larger contracts like Ogletree, Ellison and all the heavy contracts which will free up an addition ~22mill in cap space (I think may 7mill of dead cap money) which can be used to get someone like a Jack Conklin, an edge rusher.

Preferably trade back in the draft....maybe even multiple times with say the Raiders or Dolphins and grab a bevy of picks

+1

Glad he isn't saying anything about players right now.

Considering he doesn't know single thing about the guys on the roster and would want to sit down with his coordinators.

What makes you think he knows nothing about our roster?. Didn't we play them this year?

If I had an every down back, I’d never have even signed him.

Cause he said in the presser "I need to learn more about this roster before any decisions are made, but there's lots of talent..."

When he was asked about Jones.

Also trusts his coordinators to do their job and make the proper calls on scheme which means hopefully he gets an creative OC in here.

I don't know how anyone can listen to the press conference and not be fired up about everything this guy is saying.

Now let's see if he can actually pull it off lol

But so far hes 100x better at communicating what he wants out if this team then what MacAdoodles and Shurmer ever sounded.

Wants a winning team with accountability at every position and every coach. Wants the best player to play and wants a team first mentality.

Old school smash the other team in the face for 60 minutes football.

Sometimes they'll pass 40 times a game sometimes they'll run 40 times a game.

Honestly the guy sounds like Bilichek light.

I'm so fucking hard right now.  Still won't give the franchise a penny till certain family members/friends are given the boot, but I haven't been this excited about the team in years.   He gave all the answers I wanted to hear.   Hopefully he can pull it off.
