BlueInCanada
Hopefully we can keep this thread going throughout the year as the needs of the team progress. With only three teams making the playoffs after an 0-3 start, the last being the Bills in 1998, it's time for the Giants to start looking towards the future of next season. This isn't a thread to discuss who gets fired or hired in the FO/Coaches, as we all know Mara/Tisch never do what people expect them too, but more of a thread to discuss possible departing players, free agent players who can come in and contribute, and who in the upcoming draft the Giants should grab. Key players without a contract in 2018; Vereen RB Pugh OL Richburg OL Bromly DT Robinson OLB Of these five I see the Giants making a hard push for both Pugh and Richburg, the only two starting caliber players on the Oline currently. Robinson and Bromly both probably get offered modest contracts, but could leave for some team over paying for them. Vereen unless it's a heavily team friendly contract is gone. The Giants will also have to keep in mind OBJ is gone in 2019 who is basically the only thing making McAdoo's offense work, so expect them to be saving cap money for his eventual massive contract. The draft is filled with a lot of QB talent which means the Giants will not target a QB. They will most likely be picking within the top 15 (hopefully) which means a lot of top end talent is going to get pushed down with QB needy teams scrambling to grab guys like Donald and Jackson and Rosen. A guy like McGlinchey(sp?) would basically make the Oline a force, especally since Flower has regressed to the point of a PS player and we could be losing both Pugh and Richburg. Williams is another OT to target but from what I read he's the opposite of Flowers, no strength but his technique is ready for NFL play. I'd love to see a guy like Key fall to the Giants, talk about a natural pass rusher and a new toy for Spags, however the offense is in shambles and I doubt they go D round one. Lots of RB depth as well in round two, since Perkins is the new Andre Williams. Guys like; Wadley, John Kelly, Guice?, Freeman are probably all going to fall into round two and are starting caliber backs.
jranieli
I am hoping the Giants can pick somewhere in the top 3 and draft Barkley from Penn State.

Hell of a RB, gonna make a team very happy. I just can't see him doing much behind this Oline. I think they need to invest in the trenches, unless there is a FA fix out there. BlueInCanada
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkTe3NTR6PA If JR and McAdoo in their infinite wisdom let OBJ walk, James Washington is a guy who is gonna wreck the NFL.
Nas
I am hoping the Giants can pick somewhere in the top 3 and draft Barkley from Penn State. Drafting a RB without an OL won't do us any good... I don't care if we trade up to get more picks... we need at least 2 starting claiber OLs in the draft... and I know they won't pay dividends immediately.. but that unit needs to be built.. gmenroc
After watching the first 3 games of this season...how anyone could suggest anything other than offensive line help with all 7 fucking picks this offseason, I can't understand. Richburg and Pugh are the only guys worth keeping at this point...maybe Hart as a backup...that's it. The rest can go.

There will not be much left of that kid by the end of this season the way PSU is playing him....he had something like 33 touches against Iowa this past weekend......there will be HUGE miles on him coming out of Happy Valley just like Cappiltetti, Michell, Warner, Carter, Ennis and every other good back they had not named Harris. What they do to RBs should be against the law. Only one who had a great NFL career was Harris..and that is because he was mostly used a blocker for Michell. C. Wagon I saw Ennis play up close when I was in 9th grade. He was a senior and he was playing our high school team. I was working the chains because I was part of the JV squad. He must have had over 300 yards rushing against us. I never saw anyone leap over the defensive line for a TD before. He didn't fall forward, he just pretty much walked over everyone. I thought he was going to be an absolute star.

Blindgreed1
You guys are pretty much fucked as I see it and I'm not just being an Eagles fan dickhead. Eli is out of gas. You don't have an O line. Beckam is a liability, your defense is aging (granted your D is pretty badass) and your coach is dog shit. Your needs outweigh your means. Hold on to your memories of Lombardi trophies because you guys are looking at a long stretch of losses.

ODB is not liability... our problem is the OLine (The D should get it back together)...

I don't really see a way forward for this team, about the only guys worth keeping are Beckham and Landon Collins.
mastershake
Here's my draft for the giants in 2018 by round: 1 - OL 2 - LB 3 - OL 4 - LB 5 - OL 6 - LB 7 - I think we traded this away for Cockrell?

Snacks is great... OV and JPP are pretty good... our LB corp doesn't exactly suck... shit the entire defense is near the top of the league and any "weakness" they've shown is largely because the O doesn't let them catch their breath. ON the O side... we certainly have a lot more than ODB... Engram is showing signs... shep is pretty good... We're still grooming Davis Webb to be our Russel Wilson... I was thinking in terms of who might still be of age the next time the roster is loaded enough to compete for a championship. You could put Engram, Shepard, and Webb in that group. Goodson too. Snacks and OV, maybe. JPP, DRC and Jenkins are too old.

Sephiroth
They only have Munson and Goodson under contract next year Also Pugh and Richburg are hitting free agency. Almost makes you think we should have gone after Lamp and Cunningham like some of us on here wanted. Gonna be a great time getting a whole new interior line and LB corps next year. CrazedDogs
DRC is hurting, I think that's his problem. Great player though. Another one of those guys like Jenkins who I thought was overrated until I started watching them play week after week.
CrazedDogs
And Jenkins isn't quite as old as I thought either, and I think his style will age well, so I'd put him down as a keeper too.
mastershake
No RB? No, we need an OL. We have Darkwa, Gallman, and Perkins who are more than capable if we had a line.
