FLUSHING, New York (Ticker) -- Potential Cy Young Award candidates Brandon Webb and Pedro Martinez duel when the Arizona Diamondbacks face the New York Mets on Wednesday.

Webb (8-0, 2.18 ERA) is coming off back-to-back shutouts. Last Friday, he tossed a seven-hitter in a 3-0 win at Cincinnati.

The righthander is 1-4 in five games against the Mets lifetime, but has not pitched that poorly, allowing 10 runs in 34 2/3 innings for a 2.60 ERA.

Martinez (5-1, 2.79) is looking to rebound after taking his first loss of the season last Friday at Florida. Martinez pitched well, allowing two runs in seven innings with 10 strikeouts.

The debut of Lastings Milledge could not help the Mets against Miguel Batista in a 7-2 loss on Tuesday.

Eric Byrnes and Conor Jackson each homered for the Diamondbacks, who snapped a two-game losing skid. Byrnes has three home runs in the series and a 13-game hitting streak.

Milledge went 1-for-4 with a double.
