Giants signed Kelvin Sheppard.

 

Sheppard ranked 84th among linebackers in Pro Football Focus' grading system, grading out as a negative against both the run and pass. The Dolphins suffered injuries throughout their linebacking corps in 2015, but it's telling that they made little effort to bring Sheppard back—even on a discounted deal.

This is actually a really nice signing. We now have three linebackers in open competition at MLB position:

 

The player we know in Brinkley who started 9 games, Robinson is the upside guy if he is healthy and Sheppard is someone new with proven performance. This can only lead to a better linebacker group and maybe we'll contest the middle of the field this year.

It looks like giants also signed Bobby Rainey, according to his own instagram post.

Another guy who will be on the fringe of making the team. Rainey has a lot of speed, can return kicks, effective pass catcher out of the backfield. Not really a between the tackles runner. Has issue with ball security. But he's a shifty, quick, running back. But I don't see how he'll beat out Darkwa for 4th string RB and I expect we'll draft someone at RB, also.

If we draft a decent linebacker + Kennard, Thomas, Casillas, Sheppard, Robinson, Brinkley, Herzlich, Unga .........we might have a reasonable unit here in camp to choose from !
