Patriot TE concerns

Hernandez being questioned about a dead body and a car rented in his name.

Police in Massachusetts want to question New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez regarding the investigation of a homicide near the tight end's home in North Attleboro, ABC News reported Tuesday.

Citing an unnamed source, SI.com reported that Hernandez was not believed to be a suspect, but a vehicle rented in his name appears to be a key piece of evidence.

ABC News reported that Hernandez has not been cooperative and investigators wanted a warrant Tuesday to search his home. The ABC News report also cited unnamed sources. SI.com later reported that police searched Hernandez's home Tuesday night, and two men were escorted from the scene separately, but they were not in handcuffs.

The homicide being investigated involves a body found about 5:30 p.m. Monday night in North Attleboro, according to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office. Prosecutors released no other information Tuesday night about the investigation.

When asked specifically about Hernandez, Yasmina Serdarevic, a spokeswoman for the district attorney's office, declined to comment.

Patriots spokesman Stacey James told ABC News: "I am aware of the reports, but I do not anticipate that we will be commenting publicly during an ongoing police investigation."

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Wednesday morning that the league would have no comment on the investigation.

A fourth-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, Hernandez has emerged as one of Tom Brady's favorite weapons. Hernandez will be even more vital to New England's offense if Rob Gronkowski is forced to miss time in the regular season after undergoing back surgery on Tuesday.

Hernandez signed a seven-year, $41.1 million contract extension with the Patriots in August 2012.

Also looking at the Pats WR corps no one jumps out at you other than the gnome and Amendola and they don't really jump out. could Brady be in for a rough season?

Watching Dan Patrick this morning... there are reports out of Boston that Hernandez will be arrested later today. The more details that come out, the more it doesn't look good for this guy.

The guy has the world on a string Jim........how fucking dumb does this guy have to be to piss away a dream like this.

I don't get it.

All these guys that screw the pooch at this level are complete fucking morons. Vick was one, this guy is another, and I'm sure without much trouble, we could create a long list.

I go back to the argument that these guys are put on pedestals from the time they're really little and it creates individuals who don't simply think they can get away with anything. But more and more, it seems that the players have regressed even further to folks whose conscience and whose general ability to think before they act are so limited that it isn't even a decision anymore. There's no active thought it seems to decide to shoot a guy or not...just the action.

It's truly sad and pathetic, but gets worse every year with high school football on ESPN, with social media parents putting their kids on youtube and facebook, with rating high school prospects, with college recruiting practices, with the announcement of the 'next big star' who's currently finishing up middle school. The pedestal is only getting taller and the ramifications are only going to get worse.

What's more startling than this is that some guys come out with a solid head on their shoulders.

Oh he's really dumb. So is Pac Man Jones. I don't get it either. How someone who is essentially living a fantasy and won't have to work another day in his life if he could just avoid being an asshole can be so cavalier and reckless with their opportunity. It pisses me off actually.

What's more is that these guys will actually admit to living their dream. And yet, the risk throwing it all away with a few selfish endeavors and/or thoughtless actions. I understand heat of the moment actions and all, but again it's a much, much bigger issue than that.

But where does the fault lie? Is it the consumer who's constantly looking for information on what players their favorite college is getting? Is it the media who's now ranking the players at younger and younger ages? Is it the parents who shamelessly promote their child as the next big star? Is it the stigma created by the NFL/NFLPA that these players feel they're untouchable that they can live a care free life due to their notariety and income?

You could argue that the media is giving the fans what they want and that it isn't their job to act ethically by eliminating the rankings and promotion of high school athletics. You could argue that parents simply want the best for their children, even if 'the best' is debatable. And you could argue that the NFL/NFLPA simply want to work out the best deals and best situations for the players they employ. So despite the negative impact to these players as people, there's really not any motivation for any of the parties involved to change the process.

I guess at the end of the day, it can be summarized as simply as this, that the fans/parents/media care about the player and couldn't give a fuck less about the person right up until the person side destroys the player side...then, and only then, it's an issue,

Looks like Tom Brady will start the season without his top 5 pass catchers from last year.

No Woodhead, no TEs, no Lloyd, no Welker... ol' Hoodie is gonna have to pull a rabbit out of his hat on this one.

The good news is you can still get Lloyd, Austin Collie, Steve Breaston, and even Randy Moss if you really felt like it right now.

Something tells me Tom Brady will be fine without those guys. He has the uncanny ability to make everyone around him better, not unlike Eli and Peyton. In fact, I consider him the best quarterback I've ever seen play.
