Nas
Seriously the NFL and the owners are fucking greedy. And it jeopardizes the safety of the players... imagine we lose on fucking Wednesday because of blown calls

Tempest
I can't see the replacement refs lasting more than a week and at worst a month
BleedinBlue
The refs will probably screw up quite a bit in Wednesday's game, but it will probably even itself out with bad calls from both sides. Hopefully, the crew will be a little better than what we saw in the preseason. Some of the worst calls I've ever seen in the NFL came from the "superior" refs who are on strike. JackStroud
Call me crazy but I like these Refs better.........they take more time and get it right......I do not hear O Line holding calls all day long, and every KO return is not a block in the back. They sometimes call the wrong # or have to restate the call but really who cares as long as they get it right The regular Refs are too influential on the games outcome...........Fkk Them......I have no love for those greedy bastadds. Maybe their Vegas handlers will give them a job at the casinos Let them sit home like us and watch the games

JackStroud
Yeah "I get you're Crazy" to quote Brittany Spears But what about the Refs?........based on the Calls themselves not the announcing confusion I think these guys are pretty good....I like them, and I'm not afraid of them being Dallas biased etc
Treehugger
Was it the third preseason game where it took them like 7 minutes to work out a call in the last 12 sec of the game and still got it wrong? I know I'm setting my DVR to run and extra 30 minutes as there will be a lot of long games.
JackStroud
Yes but they gave the Giants another play in the 1st Qtr as a result of that call......... If you have been a Giants fan long enough, you can well remember where the Refs NEVER EVER gave the Giants the benefit of ANY doubt
Gman329
That wasn't getting the benefit of the doubt, more like benefit of incompetence.
JackStroud
actually the rule allows for the agrieved penalty HC to ask for another play in that situation.........who knows what Coughlin said to the refs- do you?

JackStroud
the rule for the end of the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Qtr is that the agreeved HC can ask for another play with no time on the clock if they had a penalty called on the other team. believe it or not...........at the end of the game its automatic that the offense gets another play on a D penalty if the clock runs out

NFL rules stipulate that a game or a half cannot end on a defensive penalty, unless the penalty is declined by the offense. The refs, led by referee David White, seemed to understand that much. What they failed to understand was that the first quarter is not tied to the same rules. http://sports.yahoo....53266--nfl.html weird i think they are wrong. from nfl.coms rules: At the election of the opponent, a period may be extended for one untimed down, if any of the following occurs during a down during which time in the period expires: (a) If there is a foul by the defensive team that is accepted, the offensive team may choose to extend the period by an untimed down after enforcement of the penalty. If the first or third period is not so extended, any accepted penalty is enforced before the start of the succeeding period. (b) If there is a foul by the offense, there shall be no extension of the period. If the foul occurs on the last play of the half, a score by the offense is not counted. However, the period may be extended for an untimed down, upon the request of the defense, if the offensive team’s foul is for: (1) illegal touching of a kick;

JackStroud
no really who cares if you run the play at one end of the field or the other.........puts no time on the clock, and the distance to the end zone is the same Machts Nichts!

Yeah it's all relative. Every team has to play with them. I think we'll have the regular refs back sooner rather than later anyway.
gmenroc
The only thing that will piss me off royally is if we play with replacement refs, a deal gets worked out, and the old refs are reffing on Sunday/Monday. If there's anything they need to ensure, it's that the regular refs HAVE to come back at the start of a new NFL week....not in the middle of a given week's games in order to maintain competitive balance.
