Allstarjim
Yeah, Nas, the catches were nice, but even better, he was mauling dudes as a run blocker, and that's something that Ballard was inconsistent with last season. Bennet's blocking should be a shot in the arm for our run game, and coupled with Wilson's explosiveness, we could see some huge plays in that area this season... something I'm really looking forward to seeing. Bigblue25
Whats funny.. Is Jack is referencing what? The Last time we won the Superbowl we started the following season 11-1 then Plaxico Shot himself and shit went to hell I said the same thing a page ago, apparently Jack is so far in his own world, he didn't notice either post. If the running game gets back to form I don't see anything stopping the offense other than ourselves. We're definitely a pass first team now and that's the way it should be with Eli peaking as a quarterback but a ground game defenses need to respect would open things up even more. Yes we went 11-1, and then fell off a cliff..........that was one of the weakest 11-1 teams in NFL history........it had no staying power, Plax or no Plax My point is unless we get this Defense in order...........we will struggle to 8-8...........Prince is a big problem.....and we need to bring Dion Grant back pronto

Allstarjim
Deon Grant is 74 years old. He was decent, not a liability, but they are trying to get more athletic. The only reason we had a "3 safety set" to begin with is Rolle was playing a lot of nickel corner. I read Hosley was practicing with the ones in the nickel slot yesterday... that's great news. I think that's what they want... let Rolle play safety and a younger, more true nickel corner take on the slot receiver. I think that makes the whole defense better. And it's not like Deon Grant made our defense so great last year... for most of the year we were pretty bad there, at least in giving up yards/long drives. Chase Blackburn was the difference, when he came back, not so much with Deon Grant, although I respect his contributions. But I'll say it again, we're a better defense with a 2 safety alignment that's Rolle and Phillips, with no 3rd safety coming on the field in the nickel. He wasn't as effective as years past. And we have the youth to take over.

What we should do is put Chase Blackburn in at both nickel corner and MLB, then maybe the refs will let us start 12 men on offense. I know at least ONE member of this board agrees with me. JackStroud
Blackburn has a steadying effect on the D but Having a guy like Grant to bring that "been around" experience the DBs is very important too. What good is Prince's speed if he is easily juked out of his shoes, and cannot break up an end run on his own? I look at Prince as weak, and green. He should not be a starter.......not this year

JackStroud
We have 3 pre-season games left maybe Mr Prince will show us I'm wrong......I hope so Thinking the Giants would ever cut a 1st choice is ludicrous I admit, but this was a doozy
