Locks

Jeter

Arod

Mariano

Ichiro

CC

Cano

Jones

That's 7 lock HOfers on out team. Assuming Cc and Cano don't crap out in the next few years.

Borderline

Pettitte

Teixera

Longshots

Grandy

Chavez?

Ibanez?

Soriano?

Pretty impressive group of ballplayers on the 2012 roster.

Thoughts?

I don't think CC or Cano are locks yet. Cano is certainly well on his way... When he gets his 300th homer I think then you call him a lock... and I'm sure he'll get there.

CC still has to hit some big milestones. He has an ALCS MVP and 1 CY Young. He needs to collect more hardware, and/or hit some big milestones.

The MLB HOF is probably the hardest to get into out of all the HOF's.

CC has been very good for a long time. He hasn't had a sustained level of GREATNESS for a long time, which is what the Hall requires.

Chavez definitely won't make it. Ibanez is very iffy, played on losing teams most of his career.

Andruw Jones is also borderline, certainly not a lock when you look at his career numbers. His 10 gold gloves will problem get him in more than anything else.

Pettite I would say is a longshot, because he's an admitted PED user. No way he's getting into the Hall first ballot, and who knows if they ever let him in.

ARod will make it eventually, but not first ballot, also because of PEDs.

But what stands out about your list is that almost all of them are OVER THE HILL!

agreed jim....though I think Pettite has a pretty string case, the postseason accolades look good to HOF voters..however CC has a good chance...his has an outside shot at winning 300 games. I think Mike Mussina should be in the hall of fame ahead of Pettitte though...one of the greatest pitchers Ive ever watched..Mussina was an artist.

I think CC is an auto hall of famer. Dude is just a horse.

How you feeling, bro?

Don't you think, GG, that when you're talking an automatic, or lock HOF'er, then it means if that person retired tomorrow they would have already accomplished enough to get in? One Cy, one ALCS MVP, one World Series title... I just think he needs a little more on the resume. I'm pretty confident he'll get there. But I think he's a good 70 wins away from being a lock. Or, a second Cy, an MVP, and/or another ring, and he's more of a sure thing. He's been a horse, I agree. Just don't think he's done enough as of today to make it.

CC's only put together one full season with an ERA under 3...great pitcher but not HOF material, IMO. I mean not that his stats couldn't hold up to some of the guys in the hall but when you compare him to other guy's who'll be going in soon, like Maddux, Glavine, Pedro, and Randy Johnson, he's not even in the same stratosphere. He's the type of guy who might get in on an off year when they have no one who truly deserves to be there but they have to put someone in

Z CC will win 300 games.

Nuff said man.

He'll need to pitch through 39 years old and AVERAGE 15 wins a season to get there. Possible. But he's just shy of 300 pounds and those knees on that weight, as they get older, it's not going to be fun for him. For the record, for his career he's averaged 15.5 wins per year. Easier to pile up wins on the Yankees, but you have to expect the same level of production for a period of time after his prime is long over. We're talking 7 to 8 more years of him, staying healthy, and getting a lot of wins. I wouldn't take that bet that he'll make it to 300. However, I think he doesn't need to get to 300 to get in the Hall.

Basically I agree with Z. Based on what he's done already, I don't vote him in. But I think he has a decent enough chance to do enough with the time he has left to get in.

CC has a pretty stress free delivery on his knees compared to others.

That guy Johny Cueto is bound for knee trouble. Same with Jared Weaver.

I do think CC should stay at 280-285, 300 is pretty big, but hey the man plays well when hes big, he's a rich mans David Wells.
