not sold on Bulger and best available player. Rams Qb situation is not great, Bulger is injury prone and with Jackson, Holt and Cutler they have a nice start along with Pace. Too good to pass up.

Bulger's fine. He might stay healthier if Martz drew up a scheme that involved pass blocking. I don't think the Cutler pick is all that bad for the Rams in this slot but I agree that defense is the greater need. Haloti Ngata as well as multiple defensive backs would've made sense here.

True but didn't Cleveland sign Ted Washington to play NT?? OLB is the greater need.... their outside pass rush last year was pretty innefective. Lawson can also play as a down lineman.... Tamba Hali was rated higher but fell in recent weeks with a poor 40 time & isn't as versatile as Lawson. I think this is a good pick given the other options/needs.

If I'm Cleveland I take Ngata over Lawson too. They needed a run stuffer. Ted Washington is a 1 year rental.

my thinking exactly and MOney will tell you one reason I said I wanted the Rams was because I wanted the challenge to build that defense. As Cutler was sitting there and I saw some good defensive players, I took the QB. IMO the potential franchise QB is worth more than any 1 player. I also pondered the past defensive picks of the Rams and how many have been busts. I factored in that they signed Witherspoon in free agency and although they do not have a great secondary they do have many players. I figured that Linehan would want to stamp this team and when you factor in an offensive nucleus of Cutler, Holt, Curtis, Jackson and vets like Faulk and Bruce, combined with the franchise LT in Pace I had to make this pick. I did not think he would be there and IMO the bodies that they Rams need on defense can be had in later rounds, but no one QB will be available later on to the caliber of Cutler.

Did you really shy away from taking a defensive player because the Rams have drafted busts on D several times? :TD:

See, this is what gets on my nerves.

I write the guidelines so that people read them. I don't write them for the sake of writing them. I don't attach comments like "READ CAREFULLY" (in large, red font) to those guidelines if I don't believe they carry significance. Can someone explain to me why I get questions like this???

To answer your question, yes I explicitly stated that there is no trading.

How about we trade Goliath for a stack of used porn?

Add my name to that list too. Justice over Cutler is a no brainer.

As soon as Goliath voiced his opinion against it I knew it was the right pick.

How about we trade Goliath for a stack of used porn?

I'm not sure we could pull that off even if the pages were stuck together.

Perhaps but the DT crop in next years draft is supposed to be deeper & more talented... I know that Ngata is a prototypical candidate for the nose in the 3-4 but how much time would he see behind Ted Washington?? Lawson can come in & play immediately.

I think that it has alot more to do with poor scouting & no attention to their defensive needs as far as why many Rams defensive picks have failed..... who was their last good defensive coordinator?? Lovie Smith?? When you have a coach that really exclusively focuses on his offense & doesn't care about the D then you wind up having poor defensive drafts & worse defensive play.

Stupidity fee for hiring Brian Billick.

:LMAO:

How about we trade Goliath for a stack of used porn?

Can we also trade Floyd & Co. for a hair dryer..... oh wait, it's the same thing.... they both blow alot of hot air with nothing to show except some noise.

I agree the Rams D has gone horribly downhill, although that fall started immediately after the Super Bowl title. Lovie was still with the team for a few years.

As much as I like to blame Martz for his general stupidity, I won't hang the defensive failures on him. The Rams have just had some shitty luck with their defensive draft choices. Team GM Charley Armey runs the draft and I assure you, he listens to Martz about as much as I do. This is simply a case of the Rams going through a run of bad drafts. However, before you label Armey a failure, realize that maybe 5 years ago his name was being mentioned among NFL GM elite. He drafted Torry Holt, Leonard Little and Orlando Pace. The Defensive Tackle failures have been his undoing although you can't blame him for the choices he made. 9 GM's out of 10 would've taken guys like Ryan Pickett, Damione Lewis and Jimmy Kennedy. They just haven't panned out.

I just think you can't shy away from a position just becuase you've been burned before. Ngata is widely regarded as the top Defensive Tackle in the draft. Having him fall all the way to the Rams was a blessing. I'm not down on Lawson but I still take Ngata in that slot.

Hey Hank, way to break Yao's foot

And do you not have the worst GM in the history of the NBA (Scott Layden) on your bench?

And I'm pretty popular on the GMB

I don't play for the Jazz. I didn't break his foot.

The worst GM in history is currently the GM of the Knicks. Layden used to be the GM of the Jazz and they made the finals, now he's the 3rd assitant coach I'm not worried about him. Also I don't play for the Jazz so he's not on my bench.

And you still are not a great poster no matter how many times you pat yourself on the back, I don't care that they like you on the Giants MB. The fact is you don't know shit and just usually copy whatever money says to make it seem like you do. But whatever helps you sleep at night.

Way to avoid the comments, it's like if you insult the Knicks, I'd have to agree with you but then defend them. But that's neither here nor there

You should talk, Hank. You hang onto Money, Speed and Hurlione like a 3rd testicle. You know your shit, no doubt about that but you learn from Money and Hound just like me...EXCEPT, my opinions differ from them.

And I never copy what Money posts, I learn from him hough. I used to say draft by position and by system, he says draft the best player available and now I say draft the BPA at a position of need.

Again, I don't think the Browns are playing to win now. They need a stupendous NT who can help them for the next 10 years and Ted Washington is just a guy who can fill up the spot for a year, and he won't even be that effective anyway.

I've seen mock drafts that have Lawson going in the second round to the Eagles.
