Plax 4 Prez
Mets try to solve Marlins' Willis Florida Marlins (1-3) at New York Mets (3-1), 1:10 p.m. ET The Mets' hitters have left no doubt about their ability to put together rallies, forcing 19 runs across the plate over the last two nights. New York will be asked to produce at a higher level in Saturday's southpaw matinee, with the Mets drawing Dontrelle Willis' card from the Florida Marlins. Willis is one of the last recognizable faces left following Florida's "market correction." The Marlins are centering their rebuilding efforts in part around the high-kicking lefty, and with good reason -- simply put, he needs little introduction as one of the Major Leagues' premier young pitchers. The Mets have never enjoyed seeing Willis around Shea Stadium; the Marlins are 5-0 with Willis on the mound in Flushing, including a three-hit shutout the last time he saw action here on July 3, 2005. "It's always a challenge when you've got Dontrelle on the mound," David Wright said. "He's a real competitor and always wants to win. He throws extremely hard. We're going to have to go up there and put some runs across." Tom Glavine takes the mound for the Mets, looking to build on his successful Opening Day start against the Nationals. Glavine ventured six innings in his season debut, taking the win in New York's 3-2 victory on Monday. Pitching matchup FLA: LHP Dontrelle Willis (0-0, 0.00 ERA) Willis makes his second start of the year for the Marlins, having pitched five shutout innings in his season debut against the Astros. NYM: LHP Tom Glavine (1-0, 1.50 ERA) The mark of a true veteran who has resided in the National League East for years, Glavine will be making his 41st career start against the Marlins. He is 15-18 with a 3.84 ERA in those outings. Player to watch First baseman Mike Jacobs was traded to the Marlins in the Carlos Delgado deal, and he hasn't lost his power stroke. After hitting 11 home runs in 100 at-bats for the Mets last season, Jacobs is up to his old tricks, having hit two in 16 at-bats this season. One of them came against Steve Trachsel on Friday night.
