Ross to Start at Safety; Bernard Inactive

For the second week in a row, the Giants have adjusted their starting defensive lineup.

New York, who last week shook up its starting defense and unveiled several new wrinkles which successfully confused the Dallas offense, are hoping history repeats itself this week against the equally potent Philadelphia offense.

To accomplish that objective, Aaron Ross, who took snaps with the first team defense this week at strong safety, will make his first NFL career start at that position, in place of C.C. Brown. As mentioned earlier in the week, the move makes sense as last time these two teams met, Brown was torched by the Eagles' passing offense, leading to his eventual removal from the starting lineup the following week.

Regular starter Michael Johnson (groin) who on Friday expressed hope that he'd be back in the starting lineup, will see snaps in the Giants' sub packages as will Brown, who seems to have found a home in the nickel .

On offense, RG Chris Snee (knee), who was limited this past week, is active and will make his 77th consecutive start for the Giants.

Also, rookie Hakeem Nicks, who has seen his stock rise the past few weeks, is going to start ahead of Mario Manningham at receiver this week.

The rest of the Giants inactives include OL Guy Whimper; OL Adam Koets; WR Sinorice Moss; WR Ramses Barden; RB Gartrell Johnson; CB D.J. Johnson; TE Bear Pascoe; and DT Rocky Bernard.

Bernard's inactivity comes as no surprise as he has been ineffective in his role as a short yardage and run stopper.

Philadelphia's inactives include QB Kevin Kolb (third QB); CB Geoffrey Pope; RB Brian Westbrook (concussion), OL Stacy Andrews; RB PJ Hill; OL Mike McGlynn; and WR Kevin Curtis.

Fragile is a good word, we could have given up several goals. And rooney's shitty touch passes up front are killing me.
