BlueInCanada
I bet Tyree would have caught him. Oh I see how it is, it's not that the punter was able to score it was because Moss was in there. So if it was lets say Tyree or Phillips or even the all and power 7th string Barden then the play was "Just a trick play that fooled us" but because Moss was in there it was his fault and hes a failure at life. Ok I see what this thread is getting at. By the way Moss caused the recession.

Ok I see what this thread is getting at. By the way Moss caused the recession. Not for me it's not. I'm objective. If I thought he really didn't have a shot at catching Smith, I would say so. EVEN IF he did turn around and make a play on Smith, I would still say, "nice play but he still sucks." The fact of the matter is that he's just not good. But that has nothing to do with this play. And I'm not saying Moss is good, he's our #6 WR and to be in that position you suck more then the five WRs ahead of you. I'm just saying it's funny watching people lay into him on a play that didnt really matter in the end and also I bet my account that if Tyree was the one in Moss's shoes everyone would be saying "Oh well that was good execution on the fake by the Redskins, we could of never really stopped it" But like some others have said,it really doesnt matter arguing it now, we won the game and should be looking ahead to the 'Boys. I'm confused...he replied to a comment that essentially was agreeing with what you said...are you both being tongue in cheek or do you both really think Moss could have made that play? Storm
Dude you keep exaggerating to try to make your point. Moss HADN'T run past the punter before the 'kick' or before the holder got up to run. He did NOT have his back to the play. He runs at the kicker AFTER the kick was already faked. Look at 0.11 on the video. And you can clearly see Moss wasn't going anything close to all out, the momentum shift and angle would have been doable. At the point they pulled the fake Moss had a great angle and distance to pursue Smith. He just completely missed the opportunity. Going full speed in the opposite direction of the direction the play is going would be tough for even the speediest and most agile of players. It's pretty tough to get your momentum going back to the other direction. All I'm saying. And it wasn't like he was within arm's reach as he jetted passed him. His one and only assignment on that play is to block the kick...if it wasn't, he would have dropped out of there... And btw, this is a speedy, offensive player we're talking about. Someone who most likely can't tackle and is only on special teams to either return the ball or block the field goals. Not even a defensive player with some experience against even playaction or any kind of ball fake...
CrazedDogs
For what its worth, BOTH Moss and Johnson were dogging it on that play. For one thing, when the kicker went to block Moss, why wasn't Sinorice clued in that it was a fake? ...instead he stands there and slowly looks around? Dude, for once in your life, get your head in the game! And then there's Johnson, who was just fucking lazy....if he goes dead sprint they still get the first down, but maybe they come up short of the endzone. Storm, I'd totally agree with you if that was the case, but the guy is bunny-hopping around in the backfield, not going full speed towards the point of the kick. He didn't see the fake and was unable to change direction, he's just completely unaware of what is happening. HAD he seen it I maintain that he could have made chase and MIGHT have caught him shy of the 1st down. That's all I'm saying. I don't agree with the 'just there to block' argument either. You see Clark & Canty react to the fake without even being able to see the play; they don't hear the kick and know to react to a run. They've clearly trained to do just that.
