Allstarjim
It's very slow on the boards lately, and as we anticipate the coming season, we need to do a little predicting just to pass some time. So let's play closest to the pin.... 2009 season edition. Here's how it works: I'll give you a variety of statistical measures by which you shall guess the final total for the 2009 season. At the end of the regular season, we shall review the thread and see who was closest to the actual performance. You can go over, this is not the Price is Right. I will pose the questions, and make my own predictions: OFFENSIVE NUMBERS Eli Passing Yards: 3986 Eli TD Passes: 29 Brandon Jacobs Rushing Yards: 1348 Ahmad Bradshaw Total Yards from Scrimmage: 1201 Hakeem Nicks Receiving Yards: 953 Steve Smith Receiving Yards: 899 Travis Beckum Receiving TD's: 3 Rames Barden Receiving TD's: 2 DEFENSIVE NUMBERS Justin Tuck Sacks: 13 Osi Umenyiora Sacks: 17 Chris Canty Sacks: 10 Overall Sacks: 59 Webster INTs: 8 Phillips INTs: 7 Team INTs: 28 Rushing Yards/Gm Allowed: 78.0 Passing Yards/Gm Allowed: 178.0 Total Yards Allowed: 4099 Discuss
BIGBLUE01
I predict a monster yr this season, but the INT prediction is a little out there. Heres mine OFFENSIVE NUMBERS Eli Passing Yards: 3153 Eli TD Passes: 22 Brandon Jacobs Rushing Yards: 1100 Ahmad Bradshaw Total Yards from Scrimmage: 1001 Hakeem Nicks Receiving Yards: 622 Steve Smith Receiving Yards: 850 Travis Beckum Receiving TD's: 4 Rames Barden Receiving TD's: 2 DEFENSIVE NUMBERS Justin Tuck Sacks: 17 Osi Umenyiora Sacks: 12 Chris Canty Sacks: 7 Overall Sacks: 62 Webster INTs: 4 Phillips INTs: 5 Team INTs: 22 Rushing Yards/Gm Allowed: 88.0 Passing Yards/Gm Allowed: 222.0 Total Yards Allowed: 4563
Allstarjim
Do you know why I predicted so many INTs, BB01? Because I predict unprecedented pressure on the quarterbacks from the Giants this year. This will be the best team in the NFL at getting after the quarterback provided some relative health of the first string players. With a ton of pressure, I expect a lot of rushed throws, and bad passes.
Allstarjim
So you predict 88 rushing yards per game allowed, and 222 passing yards allowed, but only 4563 total yards allowed? That would be a pretty good trick if they can pull that off! Just messing with you BB01, I knew I'd get somebody who didn't do the math! It was a set up. Slightly more yds rushing allowed per game, slightly more passing allowed and slightly more total yds given up........the math cant be any easier. I don't think you got the joke. I was saying that if you are predicting the 88 yards per game allowed on the ground, 222 through the air, then your total yards prediction would be (88x16)+(222x16)=4960. I guess you don't have to be consistent with your predictions if you don't want to be... but I wanted to make fun of your math skills, dammit! Treehugger
OFFENSIVE NUMBERS Eli Passing Yards: 3400 Eli TD Passes: 19 Brandon Jacobs Rushing Yards: 1100 Ahmad Bradshaw Total Yards from Scrimmage: 850 Hakeem Nicks Receiving Yards: 600 Steve Smith Receiving Yards: 1050 Travis Beckum Receiving TD's: 1 Rames Barden Receiving TD's: 2 DEFENSIVE NUMBERS Justin Tuck Sacks: 13 Osi Umenyiora Sacks: 10 Chris Canty Sacks: 5 Overall Sacks: 56 Webster INTs: 4 Phillips INTs: 3 Team INTs: 14 Rushing Yards/Gm Allowed: 78.0 Passing Yards/Gm Allowed: 178.0 Total Yards Allowed: 4096 I don't think our young receivers will be great this year and Eli's numbers will take a hit. Good but not great, higher comp. % though as we focus on a more basic offense. I can't see Canty breaking double digits for sacks from the inside. Webster will not have high INTs because they won't even throw at him. He'll be on shutdown duty.
