Mini Camp Day 1: PM Report

Here is the afternoon report.

* Steve Smith was off on the sidelines getting his legs stretched out. I couldn’t tell if it was a hamstring or a groin, but whatever it was, it didn’t keep him from participating in the workouts, which is the good news.

* CB Aaron Ross (ankle) and LB Chase Blackburn (foot) were added to the injured list. I noticed this morning Blackburn had what looked like a rubber boot on his right foot, but didn’t think anything of it at the time.

* The rest of the injured for the afternoon practice included CB Corey Webster (shoulder), DTs Barry Cofield (knee), Fred Robbins (knee) and Rocky Bernard (shoulder); WRs David Tyree (groin) and Taye Biddle (finger); LB Clint Sintim (hamstring); and TEs Travis Beckum (hamstring) and Lee Vickers (unknown).

* Sinorice Moss, who has been having a strong spring showing, tweaked his hamstring near the end of the practice. It happened after Moss made a diving reception on a ball thrown by David Carr during the two-minute offense. With Kevin Dockery hot on his heels, Moss came up with the play, but then came up limp with the hamstring injury. Initially he was able to get up and jog around the field, we’ll see if Moss ends up sidelined for the remaining part of camp.

* Jay Alford made a nice stop against Brandon Jacobs, who was running behind Chris Snee on a pull. That was followed by Ahmad Bradshaw charging through for about six yards behind a lead block by Madison Hedgecock.

* Justin Tuck and Jay Alford led a jailbreak through the offensive line and would have had a sack on Eli Manning in live action.

* Nice job by Chris Canty in coming off the edge to apply pressure on Eli Manning. Canty really showed a quick first step in his quest to get the quarterback.

* Ramses Barden had a dropped pass on a ball thrown in front of him. He probably would have been out of bounds anyway had he made the catch.

* In the seven-on-sevens, there was one play in particular, in which there was some confusion between QB Eli Manning and his receivers, Sinorice Moss and Mario Manningham. Manning threw to an empty spot and in judging from the conversations that took place after the play, it appeared that Manningham was at fault for not running the correct route.

* Kevin Dockery came very close to picking off an André Woodson pass intended for Sinorice Moss.

* Back to 11-on-11s, Manning threw deep to Manningham and nearly had the ball tipped away by Stoney Woodson.

* Nice job by Dave Tollefson and Gerris Wilkinson to diagnose and blow up an end-around run by Domenik Hixon.

* Tollefson did a nice job getting pressure on David Carr, though on a similar play later on, he was lured offside by André Woodson’s hard count.

* Adam Koetsbotched a snap to Woodson. The problem is that Koets didn’t get the ball up high enough, so once after the miscue, he went off to the side to practice snapping the ball and getting into his blocks.

* Good job by Kenny Phillips on a safety blitz to “sack” QB David Carr. Phillips was simply a dynamo in the afternoon practice.

* Rhett Bomar and Mario Manningham failed to connect on back-to-back passes. The first one was a drop; the second, was overthrown.

Does anybody here remember a more bonded team than this one? Nearly 100% attendance to all activities/camps, nobody training out of state. This might be the easiest team for us to "route" for in a very long time.

So much for Coughlin "losing" this team.

I can't wait for the season to start.

What a difference three years makes. Remember before our Super Bowl season, Coughlin was a "dinosaur," who wasn't a "player's coach," and "couldn't relate to and win with today's player" because he was too much of a "taskmaster?"

"He's Bill Parcells without the personality!" (Because, you know... Parcells was just SO fucking good with the media).

Well, let's take a look at the new coaches in the league. Singletary? Taskmaster. Rex Ryan? Taskmaster. Eric Mangini? Taskmaster. Josh Mc Daniels? Taskmaster. Funny how everyone wants a Coughlin-type these days.

It took Santana a little bit of time for him to become a very good player.

Maybe Sinorice is in the same boat, no one has ever argued his talent...we all know

he has it. It's just that he needs to put it all together at the same time.

We knew he had speed, I'm not sure everybody thought he had the talent. Most of the camp info indicated how fast he was.

Hopefully he proves us wrong.
