Reasons why the Yankees Won't Be in the World Series this year

1) Posada can't throw out a baserunner if his life depended on it.

2) Aceves is a project and is FAR, FAR away from what we need as a setup man.

3) Sorry guys but Mariano is not the Sandman anymore.....he's more like a quicksand now.

4) Wang is a long reliever at best. And we all thought he would have 8 wins right now.....

5) Hideki Matsui looks like Mr. Miagi out there.

6) They can't beat Boston.

7) How long can Tiexera carry the entire team on his back?

Sorry so negative. I see a new, different, and exciting clubhouse....but I see a hump that I don't think they could get over....unless of course we pick up a bullpen before the deadline! <_<

Fuck all you guys,

Reasons will we win

1.Sabathia,Burnett are getting comfortable being Yankees

2.Texieria may be the best player in baseball

3.And he hits in front of maybe the other best player in baseball whos just coming back to form

4.Giradi has this team motivated hes not falling asleep with Zimm in the dugout, telling old war stories

5.We will get over our Boston problems we are not in the least bit intimitaded by Boston and we still have them ten more games,7 of which are at home

6.Swisher is custom fit for Yankee stadium

7.We are still only two games out even after losing to Boston nine times

8.D.J is still D.J

9.We are the fucking the 26 time fucking world series champion NEW YORK YANKEES :yahoo:

  • 1 month later...

1) Posada has been ok behind the plate and brought his usual offense

2) Who needs Acevas for setup when Phil Hughes is pulling a Joba '07 imitation. And Acevas has been pulling his fair share of weight himself.

3) He's getting up there in age but 34/35 on the year for saves isn't anything to scoff at

4) Yeah..Wang sucks

5) 2 HR, 4 hits, 5 RBIs Thursday evening

6) 4 game sweep

7) The entire season. But Jeter and Damon are working out phenominally as the 1-2 hitters (best move made by Girardi this year), Melky has rebounded from the AAA demotion last year, Swisher is hitting better and almost always draws a walk, and even the bench/role players have been contributing.

8) A-rod has been hitting clutch HRs. Out of his 21 or so, something like 12 tied or gave the Yanks the lead. And of course he hit the game-winner in the 15 inning scoreless game against the Bosox

I like this teams chances. CC and AJ are two second-half pitchers, Andy is healthy so we shouldn't see a repeat of last seasons second half. Joba can be either outright nasty or terribly shaky, and the whole innings limit hurts him. But he's a pretty good #4 pitcher. Yeah the #5 spot in the rotation is very shaky but that is really the biggest issue the team has.

Gardner should be coming back soon though. I am sure I saw him without the cast after Wednesdays walkoff. He's going to take a roster spot because they need another CF and his speed off the bench is a needed tool. I'm guessing it is either Pena if they want to keep the pitching staff intact or Mitre if he has another bad start. I'd send Pena down right now to finish out the AAA season and come up after August 31st when rosters expand.

My only worry is facing the Angels in the Playoffs. For some reason, those guys have our number?

The one and only reason the Yankees are not going to the World Series. The entire Angels lineup is presently hitting over 300.

although that is impressive its deceiving...first of all Howie Kendrick is batting 275. Secondly, Hunter, Napoli and Vlad will not have enough at bats to qualify for the batting title as they all have missed significant time or in Napolis case, missed time and was a platoon player for most of the first half.

So yes, the Howie Kendrickless line up they had last night had every batter hitting 300 or better....but its deceiving. But, the Angels have a very good, blalance offense, but their pitching is not very good. Jered Weaver is not this good and if the Yankees get a chance to play the Angels (which will only happen if the Red Sox dont win the WC) then I fully expect the Yankees to sweep them.

yea and hitting wins championships!

thats why I dont see the angels going anywhere in the playoffs. Lets be honest, the angles starting pitching is...well, its bad, no other word for it. John lackey and Santana have been awful...they are not close to the pitchers they were before their injuries. And Jered Weaver is not nearly as good as his record and numbers would lead you to believe. he is the luckiest pitcher in baseball....his fly ball and strand rates indicate he has been very lucky....the luckiest pitcher in baseball...Jered Weaver =Johnny Cueto. Its only a matter of time...Weavers luck has been longer becuase he has a better defense behind him...but a line up like the yankees or boston will exploit him.

Sweep them? Dude, the last time we faced them, they murdered us.
