A lot of interesting what ifs in the next few weeks.

I found that the other day, and have been playing with it since. The thing that pisses me off is that there is actually a lot of scenarios that will put Dallas in the playoffs. On the other hand, it looks very good that we'll have the 1st seed.

Right now it's in their hands. If they lose one more, it's in the hands of Was, Phi, Minn or Chi, TB or Car, and Atl.

Considering they're facing us, Bal, and Phi I don't think they're going to get in.

The way Carolina looked last night and given our schedule, I wouldn't take 1st seed to the bank quite yet. I've been saying for weeks - we'll have to beat Carolina in week 16 to get 1st seed. And unless Tampa losses in Atlanta Sunday, which is possible, we'll also have to win either the Dallas or Minnesota game, if we want 1st seed. If Tampa losses, then winning only the Carolina game will do it. Any way you slice it, the Carolina game will decide if all roads go through East Rutherford in January.

I don't feel good about that game at all.

One thing though - the 1st seed, while potentially home for two games, might get the tougher match up in Week 2. Assume for the moment Dallas is the 6 seed. They go to Arizona Week 1 and Tampa, the #5 seed, goes to Minny(or whoever comes out of that cauldron of mediocrity). I see both visitors wining there. That sets up a 3rd Tampa/Carolina game and Dallas comes calling on us. Personally, I'd rather be hosting Tampa that week.....but not more than I'd rather get Carolina here the following week.

Yeah, it looks like that Carolina game is the key. According to the calculator, the Giants can go 1-2, but as long as they beat the Panthers, the Giants wrap up the #1 seed, regardless of how Carolina and/or Tampa Bay finish out. It looks like if the Giants, Carolina, and Tampa all go 12-4, the head-to-head on the Carolina/Giants game will determine the final seeding.

Carolina looked pretty tough, but they still gave up points and yards to a mediocre Tampa offense. They still haven't smelled what the Rock is cooking in the East Rutherford.

So far this season, the Giants have shown me two things:

#1 - When they come out flat, anyone can beat them.

#2 - When they bring their "A Game" nobody can beat them.

Part of me wouldn’t be upset about the Giants going on the road in the playoffs again.

The Giants are built to play in poor weather, but if high winds make passing undependable, it narrows the talent gap a lot because the Giants have such a balanced attack. It also screws with Feagles directional punting skills, and with Carney’s accuracy.

One of the things I always admired about Simms was his superior ability to play in windy conditions. Simms really reinforced the home field advantage at the Meadowlands when the wind was swirling. But so far, I can’t really say that about Eli at this point in his career.

As long as the Giants get the first round bye, I'm happy. Having that bye is essentially winning a game without playing it. And considering that the Giants haven't had a bye since Week 4 (?), they could use the time to rest and prepare for their next opponent.

Agreed on the bye being the most important thing. Are you sure about the Giants having the tiebreaker over Tampa if we lose to Dallas & Minny but beat Carolina, and all three teams finish at 12-4? Obviously, we have it over Carolina off head to head but how do we have it over Tampa? If they win out, both the Giants & Tampa would have 3 divisional losses. What's the next tie breaker?
