Patriots' Wilfork fined $15,000 for finger-poking incident against Giants <_<

January 4, 2008

NEW YORK (AP) -- New England Patriots defensive lineman Vince Wilfork was fined $15,000 by the NFL on Friday for poking a finger inside the face mask of New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs last weekend.

League spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed the fine, the third this season for New England's 2004 first-round draft pick.

Wilfork was not penalized on the play, which came with less than a minute to play in the first half of the Patriots' 38-35 victory last Saturday as several players from both teams jostled after the whistle. After the game, Wilfork said it was an accident and that he did not make contact with Jacobs' eye.

Wilfork paid a $12,500 penalty for a low, late hit on Buffalo quarterback J.P. Losman during a game Sept. 23. The hit knocked Losman out of the game and caused him to miss two more games.

Wilfork was also was fined $5,000 for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty against the Dallas Cowboys

I am surprised Toomer was not fined $50,000 :brooding:

It's coming!

And Burress will be suspended the next game SHOULD the Giants beat the Bucs. <_<

And so the great NFL-Giant conspiracy continues on...really, don't you think that if a conspiracy did exist to this magnitude, that after years of ensuring that every official will only make calls that hurt the Giants, and every suspension will only hurt the Giants, that someone, somewhere would leak this...

nevermind, the Dog is pretty sure it's a big conspiracy...

Question:

Do you think that the fine for Woolfolk was just? And do you beleive that HE should have been ejected or at least flagged for that 'accidental' poke? If you gonna flag #81 Toomer for a 'tripping' on the sidelines...(replay shows it never happened) why not at least flag the poking? Smell that? ;)

And nowhere did I say 'conspiracy'. I believe my words were coddling the Football darlings...... :worshippy:

Dude, at the very least, that fine should be triple what it was... it's his third offense... THIS YEAR.

That guy coulda ruined Jacobs' career. Brian Williams' career with the Giants was basically ruined from an accidental eye poke... and no fucking way was this one "accidental."

No one says shit about that dirty ass Woolfolk....because this is the perfect franchise! As soon as us Giants fans complain about it....silly m-fers wanna talk about us 'whinning' and 'conspiracy theories'.

(shit, I wont even mention that Rodney Harrison....)

That guy coulda ruined Jacobs' career Should be the REAL focus. And based on the media, Patriot fans and some posters in here it wasn't anything to complain about. Our team should just get better and stop using this for an excuse.

Like I've stated in other threads....I've lost a lot of respect for the Patriots after the Giants game. They are dirty. The eye poking was the most serious of all their dirt. And they were doing shit in the game (i.e. holding, leg whipping and late hitting) that wasn't even necessary IF they are so 'perfect'.
