Giants Coach Tom Coughlin: 'I'm Going to Try to Be More Patient'

tommy-vows-change.jpgGiants head coach Tom Coughlin has been on a mission this offseason. One of his main focuses has been trying to get his players to, essentially, shut their mouths. He has made it extremely clear that he's sick and tired of players airing the team's dirty laundry (see: Tiki Barber) to the media.

However, Coughlin also realizes that there are other problems surrounding the Giants; including himself.

"I think there's no question I can improve," Coughlin admitted to The Post recently about his personal relations. "I'm going to try to be more patient, I'm going to try to be someone who understands again the jobs and responsibilities of those around me."

We've all heard the saying: "The first step to solving a problem is admitting you have one." Well, Coughlin has now climbed that mountain. The next step is actually doing what he says he's going to do.

Does that mean letting players run wild? Absolutely not, but it should at least eliminate fines for being early to a meeting.

Why Tom Coughlin was hired.

1. Pledged he would stop penalties.

2. Said injuries were a "cancer" and "mental" more than anything.

3. Restore Giant pride.

4. He was Irish Catholic.

5. Boston College Connection (Thanks Admiral)

Coughlin hasn't done any of the things he has pledged to do

since his hiring in 2004, unless you guys call 1 and done playoff

apperances good.

The sad part? Tom even knows he is a lame duck coach, he just

doesn't want to admit it.

"14 years ago he was the man we wanted and today he is the

man we got....14th head coach of the New York Giants....Tom Coughlin"

The immortal words of then GM Ernie Accorsi.

14 years ago, Tom didn't want us. One year later, he wanted jacksonville.
