Lughead
Brad Johnson ReleasedBy Gonzo Posted on Wed, 28 February 2007 at 19:49:16 EST I'm sure there will be a few more releases coming tomorrow (Smoot, Kleinsasser, possibly Wiggins, etc.), but here's the first one for now. Per the Minneapolis Star-Tribune: In a long-expected move, the Minnesota Vikings released quarterback Brad Johnson on Wednesday and made the 15-year veteran an unrestricted free agent. Tarvaris Jackson, who started the final two games of last season as a rookie, and Brooks Bollinger are the only quarterbacks remaining on the roster. No word as to whether or not the door hit Johnson in the ass on his way out. Thank goodness. I was afraid that the worthless lump was going to take up space on the roster for another year. I've made no secret of the fact that I thought Brad Johnson was the person that was the most responsible for the Vikings' demise this year. The Minnesota defense was the best its been in 15 years, and it went to waste because of Captain Checkdown and his inability to complete a pass of longer than 10 yards. On the bright side, there won't be any articles this off-season crying about Johnson being "underpaid" or "underappreciated" or any of the other garbage we heard last off-season. Now, about getting Tarvaris Jackson some guys around him that can actually catch the football. . .
