Yeah but now it can be rescinded now. This is getting crazier by the day. If no one saw my thread in the Football forum, there might be an agreement and it is waiting for Tuesday for the owners to ratify it. Plus some other news.

this is not funny at all...if Kerry was signed by the NYG's (hypothetical, and not likely) he would expose just how bad Eli is...

this would stir all kinds of QB controvsery and dig up that ridiculous draft day debacle...insert Kerry back in our system, with our improved WR's, O-Line and up and coming defense and we are a cake walk to the Bowl...

of course we are speaking hypothetically, but Kerry would NEVER come back to the organization who shut the door on him after he resurrected the NYG's passing game and finally bought respectability back to the postion of QB in NY...prior to him, we suffered through the likes of Dave Brown, Danny Kannell, Kent Graham, Tommy Maddox...then Kerry came in and put us back on the map...

so what do we do ?? we replace him with a smaller, weaker armed hick and show him the door...after seasons of suffering with horrific offensive lines in front of him, he was shown the door...guys like Jeff Roehl, Tam Hopkins, Ian Allen ect. once attempted to protect him...these were the guys we intrusted in to sure up our front 5...what a joke...Kerry was never appreciated...when he was here, he was great, when he was let go, he always sucked...

brining Kerry to NY would expose just how weak Eli really is...could you imagine the revenge factor ??

I believe there were a few people that hated Collins when he was here. Although I agree with your sentiments about how he did play well here after years of misery at the QB position. One thing to keep in mind, Kerry Collins has never thrown more than 22 tds in his career and has ZERO ability to move in the pocket. Of course ELI is not a scrambler, but we have seen he has that inate ability to "slide" in the pocket and that was something he was praised for by most this season. Collins is simply, drop back and chuck it. If he has time he is great, pressure him and he has no ability to do anything. That is probably a reason why his career red zone numbers are near the bottom for Qb's the past 10 years.

I like KC, but his time has come and gone with the NYG. He will end up somewhere though, probably starting.

you make a strong point by stating that Collins was a drop back and chuck it passer...give him time and he is fantastic...that is true, but what QB doesnt have problems when pressured ?? Eli shits the bed when he sees defenders coming in at him...at the very least Kerry stood tall and took poundings trying to deliver balls to downfield receivers...Eli is surrounded by a much better line...Kerry NEVER had that cushion, perhaps in 2000 he did...we went with patch-work O-Lines for the majority of his tenure in NY...

contrary to what people believe, Kerry is a very very good passer on the run...he was just never utilized in roll outs...he sure as hell couldnt scramble, but neither can Eli...Kerry was a very strong and upright QB...he hung in the pocket, Eli is quick to take a dive or chuck the ball away...

either way, Kerry got the raw end of the deal...

smart money's in Baltimore for Fassel, but cetainly not back here, not to be an instant back up.

Also, not going to go to the Saints, same owner (I believe) as when KC had his last pit stop there...not a likelihood.

With Pennington being retained, I'd say he's en route to GB if Favre retires. He may also be asked to back up in SD or possibly even SF. Not much chance he'll be given a team again though.

Collins may have been released, but don't think for one second he thinks he should be a backup. I'd be surprised if he ends up in Baltimore, because no matter what Collins does in training camp, Boller will start the season as starter.

Collins will not be going to New Orleans, he had a bad time there the first time, he's not coming back here because we can't afford him. He's not going to Green Bay because they just drafted a kid 2 years ago to take over from Favre. I think he'll end up in Miami or Detroit. I know Millen and co said they are going with Harrington, but I'm sure now that Collins is available he'd be worth a look to them. Gus Ferrotte should never be a starter period.

I also read that collins wasn't released, so perhaps he's not free and clear. I believe it was a link on ESPN.com saying that he wasn't officially released.

If he does get released, he'll be competing, he doesn't walk into any job. I can see the Detroit thing. As for the other opps, he'd be a back up for Green Bay or anywhere else.

He'd take the right offer, he took the same one from the Raiders. I also don't know if Billick would accept him as a replacment or competitor for the healm of his team?

I was thinking in terms of Collins's mentality in that he believes he can start. He went to the raiders because they told him he'd compete for the Startign job and take it over, which he did. Detroit and Miami are 2 clubs that have questionable QB's to begin with and bringing Collins in would probably make him the favorite to start over the incumbents. No matter what Collins does in the future, he'll never be automatic first choice.

I don't see the Ravens because they have a hard on for Boller to succeed so he'll be the starter next year no matter what.

Don't underrate Sean Payton in Baltimore. KC loves Payton...

Money, New Orleans need to draft a qb and start over. How happy is Collins going to be knowing he's going to a losing situation and the minute the team turns the corner, he's out the door.

Kerry didn't have such a good time the last time he was there, not sure why he'd want to go back.

Just a thought but how much different is the "improved WR corps" from when Kerry left??

The recievers that you repeatedly bash are that much better just because Collins is back there?? How is that if to quote your repeated posts, "they give up on plays, make no effort to catch the ball & drop easy passes left & right", so exactly how is this "improved" reciever corps better with Collins under center?? There is only 1 different player amongst our recieveing corps since Kerry left (Burress) and you repeatedly flame him for being a "quitter" so how exactly is this group "improved" since Collins left??

You also forget that Kerry threw off his back foot so much that it made his passes very interceptable (is that even a word??) , he never went through his progressions, locking onto one reciever & never looking off. Collins also forced the ball in between 2 defenders to hit Toomer when there were several other options available if he had gone through the targets available.... not to mention what would happen if he was flushed from the pocket, did you fail to remember that he had a fumbling problem?

In the end the situation doesn't change much even if Collins were to come back to NY (which he won't) & get the chance to start (beit he or any other QB, they won't unless Eli gets hurt, which at this point as sad as you are you would probably wish injury on him), the problems with the offense won't go away they will just show themselves under a different face. Whereas with Eli there wasn't a propensity to fumble with Collins there is, with Eli & Kerry both you have the interception issue, while Kerry stands in the pocket & gets clobbered at least Eli has the atheletic ability to move (not Vick like but he's no Collins AKA a garbage truck with 4 flat tires).... in the end it's a pretty even trade, not much change would come from switching QB's.
