Sure, but from a talent perspective, you're not getting a guy as talented in the 6th usually.  Guess teams just knew the Bears were over a barrel and had to get rid of him, they didn't try to sell the idea of them taking Harrison hard enough.

I felt so sure about a QB, both that he would be a star and that the Giants would pick him. 

Michael Penix is going to be a Giant.  And he is going to be a star. 

Saquon is an emotional and sensitive guy.  I think he genuinely wanted to be a Giants for life, and wanted to be fairly compensated for it.  His feelings were hurt by how he was portrayed ;ast year and how he didn't get a deal here, and the minute he leaves there's people like fucking Tiki saying "you're dead to me".  

I will never harbor bad feelings for him, he got drafted to one of the worst run teams in the league for a decade or more, one that consistently picks in the top 10 and has gone through multiple coaches and GMs - as a guy that if he landed in a better spot - and stayed healthy, was supposed to be that Barry Sanders type back.  He played his best, did some amazing things, and honestly he's like a Rodney Hampton for me - in that strata of Giants players, someone I will remember fondly. 

But seeing him actually playing in the uniform might change my mind.

Yep, for the draft.  The Plax saga built up so much, will he sign, won't he, multiple visits.  Would love to recapture that excitement for a FA period.  Between FA and draft, literally 6 "Ring of Honor" type guys came on board that year.

This time of year always gets me thinking about that 2005 offseason.  I was working nights and was constantly refreshing espn and GMB for updates.  Plax, McKenzie, AP.  Just a dream FA period that year.  

That was the most exciting offseason I can remember.  Top it off with the draft that year that produced 3 All-Time Giants out of four picks.  

Man that was a great off-season.

Penix is the guy.  Would not be mad if we took him at 6, the ONLY reason he isn't in the top 3 discussion is injuries.  Which, fair enough.  But he's proven he's healthy and can stay healthy.

Nah.  You just need to watch them.  Penix has every single thing you want in a QB.  You can bring up years old injuries all you want, Penix is the man - and he beat Nix head to head twice this year,.

In 3 years we’ll be sitting around looking at this draft wondering my we didn’t draft Penix. By that time he will have established himself as the best qb in the draft and one of the best in the league and the titans or Vikings are going to look like a genius. 

This is a sad day. Genuinely my favorite giant on the roster the last several years, and just a guy I always thought would be a giant.

Makes Shoen look real bad and desperate, and by the way it seems the Giants are desperately trying to announce to the world that they want to replace Jones this year either in the draft or FA, makes him look even worse.  

On the other hand, the Jones deal could very well have broken the market for guys like him and Baker - like a cautionary tale type of thing.  Say Jones goes off last year, Baker probablygets a bigger deal.

Someone will take the risk and grab him in round one and just pray he doesn't repeat his already plagued injury career. 

I would suspect him to be gone in that 10 to 13 stretch - Vikings/Raiders/Jets/Broncos. 

He’ll shoot up after the combine. Maybe work back into the top ten and we can grab him
