  1. I really hope the Giants were in behind the scenes talks with Cowher before Coughlin "stepped down". (should have been Reese "stepping down") Eli is 35 and would rather the Giants kept the coaching staff intact until he retired. Anyway, this is the best bandwagon in town.
  2. I get what you are saying but football teams tend to suffer more from outside distraction more than any other sport. It was bad enough that they were going to have to deal with the questions about the shitty clock management but to add to it that they have to answer questions about making a completely asinine decision not to score was avoidable. Eli should have taken the sack on third down. That's where he effed up. Eli is taking a lot a shit for covering for McAdoo and Coughlin for not wanting to score to put them up 2 scores and I'm sure everyone in the locker room knows it. They also know he is taking that shit only because Jennings opened his mouth.
  3. I believe Eli is doing what a good teammate does - taking the blame. The call most likely came from McAdoo, but Coughlin would have known. Between the three of them (Coughlin, McAdoo, & Eli) one of the should have realized that this was a bonehead decision. To be honest, I'm more mad at Jennings for letting this get beyond the locker room. I'm surprised nobody is bringing that up. I remember a postgame interview last year where he threw someone under the bus. I forgot who or what it was about I just remember thinking that he was a douche for doing that. I tried searching giants.com but their search feature was driving me nuts. If someone remembers or wants to have a crack at it - It was a postgame interview in street clothes not at the podium or in the locker room. Anyway, dude is a dooooosh.
  4. They better get him signed to a long term deal before July 15. Spags is going to find a way to use him this year, If he plays out the tag we'll be either letting him go or paying much more than if we signed him this year.

  6. I wonder what would have the Giants have done if JPP &Rolando McClain were both still on the board? Glad it worked out the way it did though.
  7. After seeing the 1990 Giants v. 49ers NFC Championship Game thread, it reminded me that I want to find footage of an old Giants game. I just don't know where to start. maybe someone here can help. Back in 1985 me & my friend both were at a game. He was sitting with his dad and I was sitting with mine (dad is a 53 year season ticket holder). We said we would me up at halftime, which we did. Before the start of the third, we decided we would try to sneak down and grab a couple seats. We were successful at grabbing a couple end zone seats. While there, a field goal kick goes over the net and right into my hands. What a rush! I wasn't sure if they were going to want the football back, so I took off my sweatshirt and wrapped it around the football. Now the yellow jacket security are looking my way and starting to point. We weren't very hard to find because everyone to our left is looking at us, as well as everyone to the right and in front of us. Now the "keep that ball" starts going it it's getting louder and louder. I tell my friend I'm outta here, I'm not giving this fuckin' ball back for nothing. The chant goes down but the security on the field is still looking my way. Now two guys come up and say these are their seats and asked "who caught that ball?" LOL. I said I did, and one of the dudes was pissed at the other for not getting back from halftime. The "keep that ball" chant starts up again and I take off back to my original seats. (which were upper tier 35 yard line on the other side of the end zone where I caught the ball) I get back & show my dad & uncles the ball. They were laughing & said "that's who they were chanting keep that ball to." That how loud it got. Anyway, I would like to get footage from the game. There might be a chance we were caught on camera & I think it would be cool to see me and my friend as teenagers snatching that ball. I wouldn't even need the whole game since I can pretty much narrow it down to the early third quarter. It must have been the opening drive because we weren't there long. Anyone have any ideas on how to get the footage from this game? Giants vs. Cards Sept. 22, 1985
  8. I still call it Giants Stadium. The Jet fans love it when I do that.
  9. Wow, This blows. I was always happy how Smith took over Toomer's role as Eli's dependable go-to receiver. I still trust that Reese knows what he's doing. I look forward to seeing how Cruz does this pre-season. Here's Cruz talking about being a slot receiver... http://www.giants.com/media-vault/videos/Giants-Insider-Victor-Cruz/c9b8f658-7314-4ab7-a90c-f571561e303a
  10. Hey NeM - I'll try to stop by more often. This is still my favorite Giants forum. I always like to check out the sigs you guys are making - lots of talent here. What happened to nesta?
  11. I believe you- It's the meeting of Harry Wayne Casey story that I don't believe. Who would anyone know what someone from KC and the Sunshine band looked like? Also, if you did know what they looked like, why would you admit it?
  12. http://canadianpress.google.com/article/AL...UV7gCdqxUnjEfZQ MANAGUA, Nicaragua - The New England Patriots won the Super Bowl and ended the season with a perfect 19-0 record - at least it looks that way in Nicaragua. The NFL donated 290 Patriots hats and an equal number of team jerseys trumpeting the slogans "Super Bowl Champions, 19-0" to impoverished children from two small communities in southern Nicaragua. Thursday's gifts could not change history - the Patriots lost the Feb. 3 game to the New York Giants 17-14 - but they made a lot of youngsters in the communities of San Gregorio and Buena Vista very happy, said Miriam Diaz, spokeswoman for the humanitarian organization World Vision, which arranged the donation with the NFL. "They (Patriots) lost, but the children won," Diaz said. The only "football" most of the children know is soccer, but they were very enthusiastic about the U.S. version of the game once the rules were explained to them, she said. "They were very happy to receive the hats and jerseys," Diaz said. "They said they did not expect such a surprise." Neither did the Patriots.
  13. I got a Jacobs one off ebay for 74 dollars. You do run a risk that it might have a blemish, mine turned out to be fine. Last time I was in Modells they didn't carry them. I asked the guy working there why they didn't have them. He said they wanted to sell all the older style ones before they would start to sell the new ones. I see them alot in the mall. Just look for a sports store. Make sure it is Reebok EQT.
  14. If you go with a replica, spring the extra 25 bucks for the Reedok EQT Premier. The numbers are sewn on and the mesh thick and woven tighter. Nice jersey for around 100 bucks.
  15. Some of it goes back to the 80's. See NY Times article below. I read that 52% of season ticket holders are Jersey residents. The bulk of the remaining 48% are from N.Y. & Conn. Growing up, my friends and I have always claimed The Giants as Jersey. http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html...752C0A961948260 Published: January 3, 1987 LEAD: After years of watching New Yorkers flock to the Meadowlands in New Jersey for Giants' and Jets' football games, Mayor Koch says he has had enough. After years of watching New Yorkers flock to the Meadowlands in New Jersey for Giants' and Jets' football games, Mayor Koch says he has had enough. The Mayor said yesterday that he would not accept phone calls from other mayors who want to bet on games involving the teams and that the teams should change their names to include ''New Jersey.'' ''I believe in truth in packaging,'' he said. Mr. Koch said he wishes the teams success in their playoff games this weekend, but said he told Mayor Dianne Feinstein of San Francisco that ''she had the wrong telephone number'' when she sought to repeat their bet of last year. ''I told her to call Governor Kean of New Jersey or the Mayor of Moonachie,'' Mr. Koch said. He mispronounced the name, calling it ''mah-NOO-chee'' instead of ''moo-NAH-key,'' but professed to have great affection for the town of 3,000, a few miles from Giants Stadium in the Meadowlands. Mayor Frederick J. Dressler of Moonachie said, ''I'll take the bet - if Mayor Feinstein calls - but I'll make my own and not follow up what Koch did.'' The bet he proposes? ''I'll sing 'I Left My Heart in San Francisco' if they win, and she'll have to sing our town song if the Giants win.'' The song, ''Moonachie,'' was written by a teacher for the town's 75th anniversary celebration in 1985. Looking at a 'Pig in a Poke' Mayor Feinstein's deputy press secretary, Bill Strawn, said she decided not to follow through with the Moonachie offer after Mr. Koch turned her down. ''She was a little surprised because he agreed to bet last year and she sent him a dozen prime steaks after the Giants won,'' he said. ''She enjoys these wagers.'' Of his bet last year, Mr. Koch said, ''I was overly generous, but now I look at every pig in a poke.'' He said he has decided that what is in the poke belongs to New Jersey, not to New York. Mr. Kean said ''it would be nice'' if the Jets and Giants would change their names - ''Jersey Jets and Giants has a nice ring to it'' - but he added, ''I call them that anyway, and always have.'' The teams have removed the ''NY'' logo from their helmets and call themselves ''the Jets'' and ''the Giants,'' although they are referred to as New York teams by the rest of the league. That has rankled New Jersey officials, who placed a large decal on the 50-yard line in Giants Stadium that has a map of the state ringed by the words ''New Jersey Meadowlands.'' Mr. Kean said he is not looking for bets but he will accept them starting in the next round. ''I have to be careful; with two teams in the playoffs I might have to bet double or nothing.'' ''Someday we're going to have two teams in the Super Bowl,'' he said. ''If that happens soon I'll have to sit somewhere in the middle of the stadium.''
  16. Yeah, I believe that was Ed Koch's decision not to throw the parade. I was at the celebration in the meadowlands though. I remember it being REALLY COLD that day.
