  1. Dr. Galea only treated ARoid with anti-inflammatories. They just have waaaaaay better anti-inflammatories in Canada than we have here in the U.S.

Looks like another asterisked championship. That's five and counting.

  2. Get a mirror Mickeef, you posted a similar rant yourself remember?

I think this is the point where you say, "Gee, you must really be obsessed with me to remember something I posted years ago. Do you keep a log of this stuff?"

What I actually said a few years ago was that I was no longer willing to sit every Sunday and watch the horror show that was the Jim Fassel/Jeremy Shockey/etc. Giants. I even admitted, within a week, that it wasn't possible for me to follow through on. I never said I was rooting for another team. Just a bit of a difference there, wouldn't you say? Now go back to shamelessly reminding everybody how important you are to Sportswrath, whether they recognize it or not.

  3. Remember when guys like Mickeef and other red sox fans were calling Beckett the yankee killer? It couldnt be more false...the fact is, the yankees OWN Beckett. He did pitch the game of his life in the WS, but he was on a tear the wintire playoffs...nobody was touching him that October..but since then, the Yankees have destroyed him.

    Jeter – 14-41 (.341), HR, double

    Damon – 13-38 (.316), 2 HRs, 5 doubles

    Cano – 12-36 (.333), 2 HRs, 4 doubles

    ARod – 11-34 (.324), HR, 3 doubles

    Melky – 12-33 (.363), 3 doubles

    Posada – 9-26 (.346), double

    Swisher – 5-14 (.357), HR

    Fool.

And for the record, I never called Beckett a Yankee killer (though last night he would've been more like the Yankee mutilator).

  4. I have to say that watching these games on tv, Met fans seem to be well represented at Fenway, and that never happens there. Probably a combination of Sox fans starting to get a little complacent, and Met fans being on top of the situation when the tix went on sale. Considering the way your last two seasons ended, I have to admire your dedication to your team. Two good wins for you guys, absolutely brutal loss for us last night. Hopefully we can take the finale today.

  5. Looks like A Rod brought treats for everyone when he came back. Mo's cutter has renewed life on it, Texeira's hitting again, and the bullpen is suddenly lights out. Who says Alex isn't a team player?

  6. batting average is almost as poor of a way to judge a hitter as fielding percentage is to judge a fielder.

Jason Giambi has a lifetime fielding percentage of 993, next youre going to tell me that Giambi is a great fielder

Oh, and Orlando Hudson, who is widely considered the best defensive second baseman in the game has a career feilding percantage of 985.

Retarded. .993 is not a great fielding percentage for a first baseman, and .985 is better than average for a 2B. I would think a self-described coulda-been-a-pro-baseball-scout would know that.

Cano is flashy and sometimes makes great plays, but is not smart or focused enough to be a great 2B.

  7. Swish should either be starting over Nady or just put his ass in CF. Gardener is having a great spring (so did Cano in 2008) but I take all preseason shit with a brick of salt. Swisher is not a good CF but his bat will make up for it and we don't need any more black holes in the lineup come April (3B Ransom). Of course Swisher not being on the bench makes our back ups even shittier but who cares, it's already not that good so fuck it. We need all the bats we can get right now since we dont have everyone's favorite gay athlete.

Swisher's too shitty an OF to be your everyday CF. They should just go with Gardner out there and eat his bat (unless he's actually gonna hit this year, based on his spring, which I don't put that much stock in- unless he's been on the "Yankee workout program" ;) this offseason).

  8. If he had just said "I wish he played for our team," I don't think it would be a big deal and you'd really have to be reaching to see it as an insult to Jeter (though the Post probably would've anyway). But to say "I wish he was leading off for us," is an insult to Damon, though I'm sure he didn't mean it that way. He should be smarter than that at this point in his career.

Guess he's still just a naive kid. :)

  9. Good article on the topic this week by T.J. Quinn from ESPN

    The most interesting points:

What A-Rod said: "Going back to 2001, my cousin started telling me about a substance that can be purchased over the counter in the D.R. [Dominican Republic]. In the streets, it's known as 'boli.'"

What he didn't say: That simple statement, apparently designed to satisfy reporters about how, where and with whom his steroid use began, sparked more questions than anything else A-Rod said. Where did he hear about "boli"? Where did Sucart learn about it? If boli refers to Primobolan (a brand name for methenolone), it can't be purchased over the counter in the Dominican Republic. So how did they get it? The black market?

The original Sports Illustrated report said A-Rod had tested positive for methenolone and testosterone. He says he never took any other drugs. But what caused the testosterone positive? And if the SI report is not correct that he tested positive for testosterone and methenolone, what is correct? Has A-Rod seen the test yet? Will he make a copy of the test available?

He also never mentioned his relationship with Angel Presinal, the longtime trainer from the Dominican Republic who was banned from major league clubhouses in 2002. What is the extent of that relationship? How did they meet? Did Presinal ever provide him with performance-enhancing drugs or advise him about how to use performance-enhancing drugs? Was he aware that Presinal was considered persona non grata in Major League Baseball? And if he was aware of that, why did he work with him?

What the A-Rod camp says now: Sucart, according to the designated A-Rod representative, has had a long history of medical problems and frequently has injected himself with drugs over the years. A-Rod turned to him because he knew how to inject someone. The spokesman also says A-Rod told him that "everyone" from the Dominican works with Presinal, that A-Rod denies having received steroids or other illegal performance-enhancing drugs from anyone besides Sucart, and specifically said that he never received drugs from Presinal.

According to the spokesman, A-Rod has not seen the results of his test and does not plan to ask for them. He says it doesn't matter to A-Rod what the test specifically says because the player knows he did something wrong and has admitted it.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What A-Rod said: "I knew we weren't taking Tic Tacs."

What he didn't say: Why did he refer to Tic Tacs, which are tablets, when he said he only injected? That answer brought out the Oliver Stone in a number of viewers and readers. Why would someone refer to Tic Tacs if he had not used pills as well as undergoing injections? It might have been a revealing slip. It also might have been a poorly chosen metaphor by a speaker under a lot of pressure. (He also said, "I laid in my bed, and I'm going to have to sit on it.")

What the A-Rod camp says now: "It's ridiculous," the spokesman said, following up with his own question: Why would A-Rod admit to injecting steroids but not to taking them orally?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What A-Rod said: "I stopped taking it for several reasons. … After our voluntary test, the players voted for a major league drug policy. At that time, it became evident to me how serious this all was. And I decided to stop then."

What he didn't say: How that explanation is possible. The timing doesn't fit. Players voted in 2002 to approve two-tiered testing. First was the survey testing in 2003, which A-Rod admittedly failed. When more than 5 percent of those tests proved to be positive, punishable "program" testing automatically began in 2004. The players did not have a chance to vote on the policy again. But even if they had been able to vote, it wouldn't have happened until the results of the 2003 testing were complete -- after the season. MLB and the MLBPA didn't announce the results until November, but A-Rod said he decided to stop using during spring training.

What the A-Rod camp says now: A-Rod was referring generally to the idea that once players agreed even to survey testing, he and everyone else in baseball knew where things were headed and that eventually there would be punitive tests.

  10. You have an inferiority complex about the Red Sox. That's why you're posting on the Sox board.

I do hate that long term steroid use, though. It's what allows guys to win three MVP awards they didn't deserve (though it doesn't appear to help you hit in the clutch- in fact, it appears to turn you to mush in the clutch).

  11. Never really got into the Power Rangers when I was a kid. Loved LEGOs though, and now that my 5 year old son is into them, I have to confess that when he's playing with his LEGO town, and asks me to play with him, I join in.

You need to give yourself a great big pat on the back. You actually get down on the floor and play with your kids? Amazing. I wish I had thought of that when mine were still alive (I murdered them after a Sox loss back in '06).

  12. And for anyone hoping that Ortiz no longer has anything to do with the banned trainer, you might enjoy the following line in the article:

"Presinal was a guest at David Ortiz's celebrity golf tournament dinner Dec. 5 at the Cap Cana resort in Punta Cana, on the Dominican eastern coast."

Next time I attend a charity event, I'll have to remember that I'm culpable for the sins of everybody there. I'm sure the Reagans will be shocked to find out they're mass murderers because they had their picture taken with John Wayne Gacy. I see Mariano was there, too. Undoubtedly to buy steroids from Persinal- I mean, it's obvious, right Grounding?

Also found this pretty interesting. It would explain Angel's popularity with steriod users especially when his training program doesn't come cheap:

“He puts them through a cycle and then they flush the body out,” the former scout said. “If you're afraid of testing positive, this is the guy to go to.” He said players are afraid to discuss Presinal because they depend on his expertise as a trainer. It is also expensive to work with Presinal, according to the former scout, who says the trainer charges as much as $10,000 for an offseason session."

Of course you're looking to prove why A Rod would've had this guy staying with him during the 07 season, and prove it you did. Great job, Grounding!

  13. You pussied out...

:LMAO: That's because you're so tough and intimidating on the internet. Thrust out that cyber-chest, Rocky.

For future reference, if I don't respond to one of your running-around-in-circles posts, it's because your incoherent rambling has made it pointless. But if it makes you feel victorious to get the last word, have at it. As I've already shown, it doesn't matter to me.
