  1. That is freaking hilarious, C. I forgot about all that shit. The internet has ruined us.
  2. Damn... last active on this board 10 years ago... Apr of 2006! He was more active on Giants.com.
  3. Jim Nasium... old, bygone member of this board... I believe he wrote a long goodbye letter about leaving the board and never coming back or something.
  4. I don't think that's going to happen this time. For one, I think NFL defenses try to break tendencies and scout themselves to try and counter likely game plans against them. Of course they have to pay attention to Odell, but if I'm them I'm going to try and neutralize Shepard with their top corner in Xavier Rhodes, and then mix up coverage underneath as well as over the top safety help for Odell. They do have a great defense. What the Giants absolutely must do in this game is to run effectively. That's going to be a challenge. Otherwise, you might as well just go for a big play offense and try to hit on some deep balls, because I don't believe the Giants will have much success sustaining drives via dinking and dunking with short passing plays down the field. I think this will play into the Vikings' strength. They will need to hit on big plays downfield, play good defense and pressure Bradford, and try to get some big special teams plays to win this one. Because Odell is their best deep threat, I expect for him to get some downfield shots in this game. From a strategic standpoint, and this is a wild card idea... I would activate Jerrell Adams and have a package of plays for him to work deep and seam routes where his size and speed would provide some mismatches favoring the Giants. I'm looking for a big game from OBJ, though.
  5. This is a fair point... but I think the criticism that Odell is receiving far outweighs this relatively minor incident. I know there is no shortage of morons on the internet, but I've seen multiple people say stuff like, "if he wasn't a great athlete he would be in prison." Gee, I wonder what aspect about him would lead people to believe that OBJ wouldn't be a productive member of society otherwise? He's a young man with a lot of wealth and fame, he's enjoying himself, he's an elite competitor, dedicated to his craft, is a well-spoken man, and has not done anything to warrant such judgements. Meanwhile, Eli threw two horrible interceptions in which virtually every other receiver on those plays were very open, and you barely hear a peep. Instead it's everybody else... but here's the thing... Eli cost the Giants that game... all that other stuff was survivable, but not those two INT's, and both were mostly on him, without even mentioning the sure TD OBJ would've had if he had seen him streaking up the sideline all alone but instead threw it into a tight window to Shepard for a short completion.
  6. The Week 3 Hungriest Bench Trophy goes to Meadowland Maulers for benching Jameis Winston. Benching a top performing player can be a symptom of hunger. Try eating a SNICKERS next week before setting your lineup. Tue, Sep 27, 1:27am Hey, you're not you when you're hungry. Eat a snickers.
  7. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/0ap3000000709255/Week-3-Josh-Norman-vs-Odell-Beckham-Jr-highlights The play is at 1:40. He initiates contact with the ball in the air, it's beyond 1 yard anyway, and he makes the block very obvious. If he runs a route and positions himself to get in the way, and continues to run a route, a lot of times they will let that go. Odell grabbed on, even as the defender was pulling away from him.
  8. I honestly don't have a problem with him getting emotional. I think he could use it more effectively, but I'm glad he cares this much about winning. If it gets him penalties and ejections, then I have an issue. What I don't see is him publicly calling out his teammates, demanding he get the ball more, or questioning his coaches in the media. I don't see him brag about how great he is, I see him talking about how great he wants to be. He is a star... off the field as well. He enjoys his off-time and wittingly or unwittingly, is building his brand. I see no problem with him enjoying his life and embracing being part of the public eye. I don't know why so many want to criticize him. If you're the kind of peg that sticks out, society just wants to hammer you back down. He's going to go down as one of the greatest Giants to ever play (if they can keep him), and I don't think he really is the diva receiver in the sense of past divas that are negative influences to their teammates, organization, and those around them... see T.O., Randy Moss, Keyshawn Johnson, and OchoCinco.
  9. For the Giants to have let this game get down to the last possession was a real failure on their part. They have serious problems on offense and it goes back to last season. I think there are several frustrations: Eli not having confidence in his O-line to hold long enough to go through his progressions. I think if he did, I don't believe he would've made that final throw that was intercepted. Play-calling is terrible at times in key spots: a third and goal wheel route to Bobby Rainey (that was really an INT). The fact that Cruz was only thrown to three times... while Donnell and Tye got more targets. Team rushed for 5.7 ypc, yet only 21 team carries... could've committed more to the run, IMO. And I definitely want to highlight the first series: Run for 2 yards on first down, 2 yard pass to Donnell on 2nd down, and another short pass well short of the sticks to Donnell on 3rd and 6 that fell incomplete. That was a giveaway possession to start the game, a three and out there, and continues a trend of not taking enough shots on deep and intermediate routes. Later, after Eli got sacked and fumbled (recovered by Jerry), on 2nd and 22, they run the ball up the middle with Darkwa. Really? How about try to get at least 10 yards there and give yourself a chance on third down? Later, on third and 10, another throw short of the sticks to Beckham, resulting in a FG. Which leads me to my next point: Red zone execution. Was bad last year and not showing much improvement. This is how they were in the red zone yesterday: TD, TD, FG (pass to Rainey should've been ruled an INT), INT, and FG. More importantly, 2nd half red zone trips went FG, INT, FG. Too many possessions were given away. Great teams convert more often down there. That's the difference between a great team and a team that's just ok. They need to clean this up. Not utilizing your strengths enough. Through three games, I think that the best receiver in the NFL is getting a good amount of targets, but I think it should be more. I think Shepard and Cruz should get more, also. Time to open this offense up and really let it rip. Penalties were not as much of an issue last year but yesterday was awful, and they really hurt the team. Especially taking the blocked punt off the board and the OPI on Beckham.
  10. Victor Cruz: 3 targets.... and had 3 catches. Inexcusable, with the depleted secondary the Redskins had. Tye and Donnell combined for 9 targets, 5 for Tye, 4 for Donnell. Had 6 catches collectively. So both Tye and Donnell had more targets than Cruz.
  11. It could have been what he said. But the jaded part of me says if it was anyone other than Norman it's glossed over as routine gamesmanship/trash talk that happens all the time.
  12. If Bleedin' was here he would remind us about Pittsburgh's Jesse James, taken in the 5th round at 160 overall. The Giants' 5th rounder was Mykelle Thompson, taken 144 overall.
  13. Somebody please explain to me how Weston Richburg gets a penalty on that play, and how the fuck does the NFL think that ejecting a player in circumstances like this is good for the game? Shitty call, worse rule, and I haven't even seen how the hell he got the first unsportsmanlike penalty; what was that for?

  15. Truly one of the greatest pitchers in the game going. Such a tragedy. Baseball lost a phenomenal talent, a tremendous competitor, and by all accounts, got "it". One of the guys, as a Mets fan, would just give the Mets fits. When I saw he was slated to pitch against the Mets, my heart would sink a little, because his talent was so immense. Was supposed to pitch against the Mets tomorrow. Despite that, had so much respect for him as a competitor. Defected from Cuba, after 3 unsuccessful attempts. No doubt in my mind he would've won multiple Cy Youngs, on track to be a Hall of Fame pitcher. Sad day for the family, for the Marlins organization and their fans, and for all of baseball.
  16. Most important thing about that piece, "this is the Redskins' season." Now, 0-3 doesn't end a season, but not too many come back from that hole. They are going to be fight like madmen to avoid it. This should be a physical game and the Giants need to at least match the intensity. If w can get an early INT or two on Cousins, they might quit on him, with tge frustration with Cousins already seemingly at a boiling point. We've seen good Cousins and bad Cousins. Last year at MetLife, we got bad Cousins, so he will surely be bringing his best to erase the bad memories.
  17. Er, I went with Showin' my Fleener. Not too much longer, though, cuz he sucks. Another league is JPP's Flyin' Phalanges. I vote for the Tyrion one.
  18. It does work plenty, though... Shepard scored on a fade.
  19. They have former NFL coaches grading every snap. I trust them more than the average fan's opinions. More than beat writers' opinions for that matter. It's no surprise Newhouse got a good grade. The Cowboys do not have a legitimate pass rush threat on the field at the moment. Those will be the least talented defensive ends that Newhouse will face all season.
  20. My prediction: the Giants defense will outscore the Cowboys offense.
