I am worried that with all the signings and great players, we are going to be expected and favored to have a superb season, only to have the injury bug hold us back.
Specifically, I am concerned about RB.
Remember the Jets in 1999?
Remember the Jets last year?
In both instances, the Jets were coming off playoff seasons, and were expected to be serious contenders.
The problem was, both times they had serious injuries to skill players and bombed.
In 1999 it was Testaverde.
Last season it was Martin and Pennington.
The Jets had no suitable backup for their Qb and Rb.
Similarly in 2003 the Giants were coming off a playoff season and expected to compete, only to have injuries send them as well to last place.
I am worried in 2006 we are one Tiki injury away from being 5-11.
He is so important to our team, to both the running and passing game, sometimes special teams, he would be irreplacable, and further, we have nobody who has any record of being able to handle a full workload.
We use Tiki without much of a rotation, we barely use our backups to spell Tiki, I am worried ineffectivness, injury, or age to him could ruin our year.
